Where the Devil Resides – Shockfest Official Selection
What does this mean? Well, I get to add another laurel to the poster below. Maybe on November 13, it will win Best Screenplay. Maybe if I get enough of these, the right people will pay attention when I call them.
Stay tuned.

Adventure Kids #6 – Preston and the Great Airship Caper
I just released the sixth book in my Adventure Kids series, Preston and the Great Airship Caper. Because who didn’t want to fly like Superman or Supergirl when they were a kid?
Look! Up in the sky!
Preston loves taking care his family’s farm animals, especially the little ones, like puppies and kittens.
But when all the animals suddenly disappear, he realizes there must be some serious skulduggery afoot!
Being turned into a superhero isn’t what he was expecting today, but a dusting of strange, magical powder is just the beginning.
Can Preston save all the animals from a terrible fate before the thief disappears forever?
The ebook edition is available all sorts of places for just $1.49. And the trade paperback edition has spaces for kids to draw their own fun stuff.
STRAIGHT OUTTA DEADWOOD Rides Again!
This time in mass market paperback!
I’m super-proud of my short story “Blood Lust and Gold Dust” in Baen Books’ weird western anthology, Straight Outta Deadwood, even more so now that the mass market paperback has hit the streets.
I was so happy to take part in the Baen Podcast recently with several of the authors from the anthology. When the episode goes live, I’ll be sure to post a link. Great fun with authors Charlaine Harris (I really enjoyed HBO’s True Blood and her Sookie Stackhouse novels), D.J. Butler, Betsy Dornbusch, and editor David Boop.
First there was Straight Outta Tombstone.
Now we venture to an even wilder frontier town: Deadwood and its creepy environs. And to do so, here’s an all-new posse of top authors to explore it with. Charlaine Harris gives us a glimpse inside her new series as a tormented gunfighter faces a true demon of her past. Mike Resnick reveals what Doc Holliday thought was so funny on his last day. Jeffrey J. Mariotte introduces us to a man who specializes in pictures of the dead who won’t stay dead. Meanwhile, Jane Lindskold teaches us not to underestimate a schoolmarm when her students are in jeopardy. And Shane Lacy Hensley cooks up a stew that threatens to send all the famous lawmen in history to their graves!
These and a dozen more stories of how the West was wilder than any history book could contain. The West that once was rides again—but this time with the West that could have been chasing after like a spitting hellcat on its tail!
