Quest to See Oscar Nominated Movies

My sister and I (and our hubbies) try to see all the movies nominated for Best Picture before the Oscar Ceremony on Feb. 24. Here are the nominations and the ones I’ve seen so far:

1. Argo – Loved it! Alan Arkin and John Goodman were fantastic.

2. Les Mis – Some powerful performances but the movie as a whole didn’t do it for me.

3. Zero Dark Thirty – What a heart pounder, even though I knew how the story was going to end.

4. Amour -never heard of it till now.

5. Django Unchained – not excited to s...

One New Thing

My friend Karen over at FriendsFavz is starting a meme called One New Thing. She’s challenging herself to try or do One New Thing each week and blog about it on Tuesday. I’m going to join her. If you saw my post the other day about creativity, you’ll know why. She’s going to have a blog button made so we can grab the code and post it on our blogs. It doesn’t have to be a momentously big new thing either, just something new to you. I hope you’ll join us and get inspired to do One New Thing a w...

Sparking Your Creativity

(cc) amiefedora on flickr

I’ve always been fascinated by creative people and the creative process. Maybe it’s because of the new year and I’m thinking about what I want to accomplish, or maybe it’s because of my friend Karen’s commitment to do One New Thing a week, but I’ve been pondering it even more lately. This article on Creative Something about the link between creativity and intelligence (you don’t have to be a genius to be creative) really resonated with me.

In a nutshell, to nurture cre...

Thank You Thursday with Caridad Pineiro

Welcome to Thank You Thursday, where I invite an author to answer a few questions about his/her book’s dedication and acknowledgements. I LOVE reading these little snippets at the beginning of books and often wonder about the story behind them. So I decided to ask.

Today, I’m thrilled to welcome NY Times Bestselling author Caridad Pineiro. Although we both wrote vampire stories for the anthology A Vampire For Christmas and went on a mini-blog tour together, we had never met in person until the...

Winter Solstice aka The Night of Wilding

Winter Solstice in the Northern Hemisphere marks the start of winter because it’s the shortest day of the year. In Spain, they celebrate by lighting bonfires (Hogueras) and jumping over the flames three times. In Vancouver, there’s the Winter Solstice Lantern Festival. In the Sweetblood world, however, vampires celebrate the occasion because they’re weakened from sunlight and this is the longest night. Darkbloods (the bad guys) mark the occasion with the Night of Wi...

The Next Big Thing

My friend and very talented historical romance author, Kris Kennedy, tagged me in The Next Big Thing, where authors give the inside scoop about what they’re writing now. Check out her post from last week to see what she’s working on. It may surprise you. (It did me.) :-)

So now, onto my questions for The Next Big Thing…

What is your working title of your book?

ROGUE’S PASSION is the working title of the second novella in the Iron Portal series. This is Asher’s book.

Where did the idea come from for...
