How to Write: My favorite writing instructor is teaching a class
I'm so excited to be taking another writing class taught by one of my favorite authors, Linnea Sinclair. She has a way of describing concepts in a way that really makes sense to me. At RWAOnline, she's teaching Prune Your Prose: 10 Tips to Tighten Your Fiction Writing starting August 16. You don't need to be a member of the chapter and I don't think you even need to be a member of RWA to take the class for a nominal fee. After taking a class last year, I ended up joining the chapter, so all these workshops are free to me now.
Although I'll be hip deep into my revisions, I do plan to participate as much as I can. At the very least, I'll have her lessons to read later.
If you've never taken an online writing class before, it's pretty much done at your own pace. You don't need to actively participate if you don't want to or don't think you'll have the time. You can lurk, read the lessons, read other people's examples and Linnea's comments back. No one is going to call you out and make you participate. But, if you can, shove aside your fear and post your stuff too. It's usually only a few sentences anyway or maybe a paragraph. She might have us do exercises that don't involve our own stories at all.
I almost forgot. The classes that RWAOnline puts on are done via a forum with threads. Not on a Yahoo loop. I love that format soooo much better. It's much easier to follow what's going on.
Come join me! You'll learn a lot. And if you can't, at least set your radar to take a class from her in the future. After using what I learned in one of her classes, I went on to sell my series to HQN.

Teaser Tuesday: THE DARKEST PASSION
My teaser:
"An angel isn't technically human, you know. An angel is something more." [image error] Page 39 of THE DARKEST PASSION by Gena Showalter
I heard about this fun blog meme from my friend Violet over at The Eager Readers and decided to play along too. Hope I did all the links correctly!
Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
Grab your current read Open to a random page Share two (2) "teaser" sentences from somewhere on that pageBE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn't give too much away! You don't want to ruin the book for others!) Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!
