$1.4 Million Bicycle Path Coming

The Valley will soon be home to another world class path for walking and bicycle riding. Last year, Chicopee, Massachusetts created a path for recreation and non-motorized commuting. Soon it will extend the riverside path by more than a mile, at a cost of about $1.4 million, almost all of which will be paid for by the federal government.

Valley Nuke Battle Is On

On December 12 in Brattleboro, protesters occupied a nuclear corporation's board room. Meanwhile, activists seeking to close the Vermont Yankee nuclear power plant are gearing up for a vote next month in the Vermont senate on whether the state's top nuclear regulator – who many say has been too friendly to the industry – will get to keep his job.


Vermont Yankee is three miles from Massachusetts and a stone's throw from New Hampshire.

Vehicles Kill Pedestrian, Seriously Injure Another, in Keene, Brattleboro

One of the best ways to prevent climate change, and to prevent some of the thousands of deaths that are caused annually by lung cancer caused by smog from cars and trucks, is to travel by walking or riding a bicycle. These modes of travel also reduce obesity. Obesity causes health problems that cost American taxpayers billions of dollars annually.

Labor Rallies Will Be in Northampton, Springfield

There will be rallies to support workplace justice in Northampton and Springfield. The Springfield rallies are on November 28 and 29 from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. The Northampton rally will be on December 2 from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m.
