Writing a novel is not as hard as it sounds. Seriously. But once you land your writing contract (a) don't expect to make it rich, (b) don't quit your day job, and (c) do expect to make less on royalties than you thought. Also, write YA novels and avoid writing science fiction! Last but not least: watch out for scam artists.

Hey Amazon: Talk to Hachette, not Us
Amazon (a) is trying to bribe us (Hachette authors) and (b) should discuss these things directly with Hachette instead of sending out letters to authors. To make things worse, they wrote a letter to only SOME Hachette authors and their agents. Some. I wasn't offered any protection, and I'm sure other Hachette authors weren't. Probably only the Stephen Colberts of the world. I'm pissed. Time to do a video explaining how Amazon doesn't give a damn about the talent, only about maximizing the amount of money they can squeeze from the talent. A New Assistant!

Operation Arcana
