A Problem With "The Keeper"

I noticed a couple readers remarking that the religious angle put them off the book. I'm not sure why. Not to mention, I didn't really view the book as religious. Yes, the main character is a religious icon, and the religion itself was the backdrop that allowed him to exist, but… I don't know. I'm [...:]

Time

I just don't have it. Well, one would think I did. I suffer from chronic insomnia (so much so that I have a nice group of meds prescribed to combat it). I haven't fallen asleep naturally in almost three years. If I don't take the meds, I wind up awake for days, but sometimes, even [...:]

Fanfiction and Copyright

Fanfiction is illegal. There is no gray area. It is derivative works made from source material that you have not obtained the right to make. It is not a parody. It is not fair use. Making a profit or not does not play a huge part in it. It is copyright infringement, plain and simple, [...:]

Review: Master Bear by Angelia Sparrow and Naomi Brooks

I read Master Bear recently, which is by Angelia Sparrow and Naomi Brooks. I went into this with a wary eye. As most friends here know, Roger and I are very much a part of the BDSM community. We have been for many years now. Very few BDSM stories I've bought have lived up to [...:]

The Joys and Pains of Writing

I was feeling like a heel for having neglected Catalyst since finishing Rachmaninoff. So, I buckled down and pounced Kris about it. I think what was keeping me from working on it was where we'd left off. We'd been in the middle of it in April 2009, and Kris and I had our argument/split thing. [...:]

Thoughts and Questions About BBWs

Kris and I have, once or twice, bandied about the idea of writing overweight female protagonists in a handful of erotic romances, especially since we're eager to open ourselves up to M/F and F/F writing. I'm not talking a 12/14 'overweight' protagonist, but women with large breasts, hips, butts, thighs, and tummies. I'm hesitant, though. [...:]

"The Keeper" Coming August 9th

March 16, 2009, Kris and I completed the first draft of the novella The Keeper. It took us a couple of months, and the draft was rough. But it was done. That was the highlight of our month. The novella was complete. It remained in its first draft stage until the beginning of 2010, when [...:]

The English Language

So, I did some editing to a piece by another author tonight. From 9pm until 4am. It was hard. It reminded me why, back when I wrote fanfiction, why I stopped being a beta reader. Too many authors think writing is just putting words to paper, but it's not. This is probably why I won't [...:]
