New Release "Vibe Coding by Example"

Vibe Coding by Example by H. Peter Alesso
Vibe Coding by Example

"VIBE Coding by Example" is a comprehensive guide to AI-assisted programming that's transforming software development. This book introduces readers to VIBE (Visual, Interactive, Bot-assisted Engineering) coding—where developers collaborate with AI to build software through natural language instructions rather than writing every line manually.

Written for both beginners and experienced developers, this book explores the paradigm Andrej Karpathy described in early 2025 as "fully giving in to the VIBEs" of AI-generated code. Through practical projects, readers learn to harness AI assistants like Claude 3.7 Sonnet, GitHub Copilot, and specialized IDEs to build real applications.

While we focused on Claude 3.7 Sonnet for this book in order to be consistent, you could use an alternative AI such as Gemini Pro 2.5, or Open AI o3. In addition, we show you how to set up GitHub Copilot and Cursor.

New Release: By Any Other Name

Sometimes, the right man in the wrong uniform can make all the difference.

By Any Other Name by H. Peter Alesso

Ethan, a lowly recruit with an oil-stained uniform and a spirit worn down by disappointment, finds his life forever changed by a twist of fate. Squinting at his reflection, he sees the sleeves of his borrowed jacket bore captain’s stripes. A grotesque emblem is embossed over the jacket's breast pocket—a roaring lion's head surrounded by a cluster of jagged broken bones—the symbol of the Special Operations Service.

There is no way out. The ship is taking off because they think an elite SOS captain is on board to take command—him.
His choices were brutally simple . . . act like the officer everyone thought he was or be found out as a fraud. One was survival, the other . . .

The consequences sent a wave of panic through him. He was a mouse in a lion's skin. He had to become that lion until he found a way out of his cage.

Ethan's path intersects with Kate Haliday, the leader of the dark matter project in the Cygni star system. A subtle dance of glances and half-spoken truths begins. But the threads of connection are fragile as they are tangled with the ambitions of Commander Varek, a skeptical officer.

The emergence of an unknown alien race casts a long shadow that shifts the cosmic chessboard of a space fleet and a galactic empire. Their interest in dark matter and Earth's colonies weaves a layer of mystery and suspense.

Writing Styles

Ernest Hemingway is a literary giant whose writing style has had a lasting impact on the world of literature. His simple, straightforward prose and use of dialogue and symbolism have made him a household name and a revered figure among writers and readers alike. Compared to a well-known modern author, we can see how Hemingway's style differs from that of J.K. Rowling.

Hemingway's writing is characterized by its brevity and its lack of unnecessary flourishes. He believed in conveying the maximum amount of information with the least amount of words, a philosophy exemplified in his use of short, declarative sentences. This style creates a sense of immediacy and realism, allowing the reader to experience the story's events as if they are happening in real-time.

In contrast, J.K. Rowling's writing is known for its attention to detail and its rich, immersive world-building. While Hemingway's writing is stripped down to its essentials, Rowling's writing is filled with descriptive language and extensive backstories that help to create a fully realized and vividly imagined world. This difference in style is exemplified in the vastly different worlds of Hemingway's "The Old Man and the Sea" and Rowling's "Harry Potter" series.

While these two authors have different approaches to writing, they both have left an indelible mark on the world of literature. Hemingway's simple, straightforward prose has inspired countless writers, while Rowling's immersive, detailed storytelling has captivated readers worldwide. Both Hemingway and Rowling are a testament to the enduring power of the written word and the many different ways it can captivate and inspire readers.

EXCERPT:

“How do I look?” asked Alaina twirling to show off the rich folds of her formal evening dress.

“Perfection,” beamed Gallant. “You’ll be the most attractive woman there.”

His reward was a kiss on the cheek.

He caught a flash of his own reflection in the mirror, startled at how distinguished he looked.

I look older. Am I any wiser?

Alaina said, “Full-dress suits you.”

He felt a rush of pleasure at her praise.

He liked wearing ‘blues.’ Full-dress was like service dress with the exception that full-size medals were worn above the left breast pocket instead of ribbons.

For the finishing touch, he buckled on a ceremonial pearl-handled sword. “Shall we go?”

“Yes, Dear,” said Alaina, linking her arm through his.

Soon they were flying from the Melbourne spaceport to the Constellation. They were accompanied by elegantly dressed dignitaries from all over the Solar System.
