Ephiny's Big Day

Short form: Woooowwwwww.

[info:] tcastleb took pictures. Lots and lots of pictures. So this can be a Photoblog. :)

So this week all was well. [info:] tcastleb had a lesson first. Ephiny was totally with the program--right there and waiting for her turn. Interestingly, Camilla didn't push for a lesson at all. It was Ephiny's day.

S started by renewing h...

You Know It's Wet When the Grass Grows Here

Serious monsoon for the past week, and there's grass in the (still wet and muddy) arena. We haven't seen that in a couple of years. Everything's green and growing like mad.

I have been working like a working thing. Fiction fell by the wayside, but I am bound and determined to finish the last week of the Clarion Write-a-Thon with at least some new words. This past week racked up a mere 1854. Bad writer-a-thon. Bad.

Applewood-smoked bacon. Forget chocolate. Now there's a vice.

Pooka got a ride thi...

And the Rain Comes and Goes

More update coming, and some Beta stuff, too, but today is Flat Stanley Day. Last week I farmsat at Casa Corona, which is a gig I love--the drive to and from is beautiful and ponies and kitties and Volunteer Dog, oh boy. All four cats came out for me, which was rather amazing, because Cat Number Four is even more Invisible than his brother, my BT.

But a week-plus of mornings starting at 5:30 and me not sleeping because of the hot and the humid, then doing the trip again in the afternoons, kin...

Horse Neep, Writer Bits, and Other Delights

More randomosity from Fat White Pony Central.

There are winners for the steampunk photo contest at Book View Cafe. Lovely photos, and very much in the mood.

While this was going on, I finished my story for Shadow Conspiracy II. It's a mystery-thriller set in and around Cambridge (UK, not MA) in the summer of '42 (18, not 19 or, yet, 20), and among other things, features a mysterious mansion full of mechanical courtesans. SC II will be out in ebook form in December.

Steampunk is fun.

On the print ...

Signal Boost

Since I surely do know about last-ditch efforts to keep the rent paid, and crowdfunding is the Wave of the Future, here's a cause we can believe in: [info:] mizkit , aka C.M. Murphy, is doing a commissioned novella for her many fans. Looking for something good to read this summer? Here's something you can say you helped make possible.

Somewhat closer to home, Betas, stand by. After morning chores, I'll post to the filter. I may need to be wrung out and hung up to dry first, it's that hot and humid her...

Lo, We Are Mighty

For today, we wrote Exactly 1200 words of outline/story sketch/very very very very rough initial Stuff on Sekrit Projekt.

Camilla got a ride in the dusk, buzz-bombed by bat. She had happy ears, because she got her turn even though Ephiny got all the daylight, humph! Miss E wore saddle and bridle, did balance work, learned about weight in stirrups. She's been wobbling all over the place like a cheap folding table when she wears the saddle. Tonight she learned that when weight goes in the stirru...

New Horseblog at Book View Cafe

http://blog.bookviewcafe.com/2010/07/12/coevolution/

Our BlogGoddess put up a Share button. Look! It works!

And besides, hey. Neep.

I am going to die if this humidity keeps up. Sauna doesn't begin to cover it. Morning horse chores, GAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH. And precious little rain to show for it, though last night was beautifully cool (and damp) thanks to the storms that danced around us but barely touched us.

My brain, meanwhile, is soggy cottage cheese. And I have Work To Do.

Write It, Baby!

915 words of Horseblog for tomorrow. Maybe more fiction tonight? More fiction would be good.

More Write-a-Thon, and Various

The monsoon is finally here, after a brief tease and a blast of Dragon Weather. We had actual measurable rain this afternoon. It felt gooood.

And Pook is back to his normal, sound, full-of-himself self. He's been doing his homework and doing it well. Best Ride Ever yesterday--all wiggly and bendy and boingy and happy.

In the Literary Coolness department, Book View Cafe member Chris Dolley, who is one of the funniest writers I've read in ages, has a new ebook out: French Fried. Here's what the ...

Finito!

The Clarion Write-a-Thon canters on.

Quick update to mark completion of story draft. 1642 words since the last entry. Running a bit behind the per-day goal since Thursday, but it's still early in the day (and I'm still ahead in the overall stats). There will be more. Of something else. Yes.

Meanwhile, draft! W00t!
