Denver Comic-Con

This year is the first ever Denver Comic-Con and I will be there, signing books, hanging out with some Big Shiny Robot!s (two are covering the convention as press), and I will find some way to put my skills as a raconteur on display.

I will be at booth 104 in the Artist's Alley, which is the biggest I think I've ever seen. Maybe it's just the San Diego's seems so overwhelming, this looks like they've crammed more comics, art, and writing talent into half the square footage. There are a ton...

Deseret News Review of Operation: Montauk

In advance of my signings this weekend (at The King's English and Dr. Volts (more to be announced possibly)), the second largest newspaper in Salt Lake City ran a review of Operation: Montauk.

It was written by a gentleman named James Joy, and you can read the entire thing on their website here. He really seemed to like it.

Here's the big poster quote from the piece:

Readers will be on the edge of their seats from start to finish as they meet futuristic scientists on a spaceship to Wor...

Origins 2012 Panel Schedule

I had a fantastic time at CONduit and met a lot of fans, new and old, and sat on some very interesting panels. The publishing panel I was on was particularly enlightening, but it proved to me that no two people get into the world of publishing the same way.

As many of you know, I'm doing many more panels at Origins this week, and I wanted to drop my schedule on you.

The topics always lead to fascinating discussions and I hope to see plenty of you there.

Thursday:

1:00 PM: Publishing 101 - Wh...

Operation: Montauk Release Schedule

The first print run of Operation: Montauk has arrived and the pre-orders will be shipping out over the weekend. (It's not too late to still pre-order.)

From Friday, May 25 through Sunday the 27, I'll have a table at CONduit in Salt Lake City. It's being held at the Radisson downtown on 215 S. West Temple. The special guest is Tim Russ, who played Tuvok on Star Trek Voyager.

I'll be appearing on at least three panels:

Saturday: 10am - Web Based TV productions

Sunday: 10am - Getting Your...

A Sigh of Relief

There comes a time in the life of every project where it has to just be done. You've worked diligently and consistently toward your deadline, and then suddenly that deadline is tomorrow and you're still looking at 20 or 30 hours worth of work left to do at the bare minimum. And there's also a birthday party scheduled for your son. And other work obligations.

I haven't pulled an all-nighter since I working on Killer at Large. Not because I haven't had deadlines in that time, it's just that I...

Operation: Montauk reviews and posters!

I received the first proofs of Operation: Montauk yesterday, as well as two new reviews of the book. I can't tell you how good the books look. Lucas and Blain knocked this cover out of the park. I can't wait for you all to get your hands on it.

There are two people who have got their hands on it, though, and they've written reviews.

The first, is Troll in the Corner's Glenn "Naked Hobo" Buettner.

After a hilarious after-life exchange between Michael Crichton and H.G. Wells, Buettner wro...

Signings and publicity...

As many of you know, I'll be premiering Operation: Montauk at the Origins Game Fair. I'm a guest in The Library and will be on all sorts of panels about writing. But I have yet to book an event here at home in Salt Lake City. That changed yesterday, actually, and I am pleased to announce that my very first reading and signing in my hometown will be at The King's English.

The event is June 8, 2012 and starts at 7:00 pm. There will be a reading, light refreshments will be served, and I will th...

Final Cover and First Review of Operation: Montauk

Lucas Ackley from Ackley Design has been responsible for every single one of my print covers. For Operation: Montauk, he took Blain Hefner's incredible painting and turned it into an amazing vintage book cover, front and back.

While this looks fantastic, I have even better news.

Operation: Montauk has had its first review, and it's a doozy. [insertgeekhere] gave it some high praise indeed. Here's an excerpt:

The book grabbed me from its opening words. I was thrust so quickly into...

Two New Collections

There are two anthology collections that my work is appearing in over the next couple of months. This is me telling you about them.

The first is a very exclusive, limited print run anthology that features my story alongside stories from Timothy Zahn, Aaron Allston, Michael Stackpole, Janine Spendlove, Sarah Hans, Steve Saus, Don Bingle, RT Kaelin, and I could just keep listing them. This is a collection of short stories by authors who are guests at "The Library" at Origins Game Fair. This bo...
