I am a GoodReads author!
Although I had set up a GoodReads account a while back to catalogue my haphazard reading materials and try to get myself into the habit of writing up at least mini-reviews of the books I devour, I never really thought much about the "GoodReads author" designation until I realized that, duh! I could be one of those authors.
[image error]And now I am! You can follow me at GoodReads under the obvious name, lauraroberts, and write reviews of all my books.
Okay, so there is technically only the one (Naked...

Genre bending
I have been pondering my book's progress, as I sit down to write each day, and have come to the following conclusion:
Writing a guidebook is fucking boring.
Why? Because reading a guidebook, cover-to-cover anyway, is a terrible idea!
Now, even though my guidebook would be nothing like a mainstream, run-of-the-mill guidebook like something produced by those Frommer's, or even those Lonely Planet dudes, I still don't want to have to recommend places that the "average" tourist would enjoy. I mean, ...

Shoestring Montreal rides again
As I recently posted on my retired cheap-eats blog, Shoestring Montreal, I've actually revived this work in my book, Naked Montreal. While my focus has moved from exclusively profiling the city's cheap eats, and now extends into the romantic, the chic, the popular, and the "sexy," the same cheeky tone you'll find in my Shoestring Montreal blogs extends into my wining and dining profiles in the book. I'm not gonna give you the same old, same old you'll find in any typical guidebook...

Cover photographer found
STOP THE PRESSES!
(I've always wanted to say that.)
I've found my cover photographer, and his name is *safe solvent™. We are currently collaborating on what is sure to become the world's most awesome book cover EVER, based on an idea for an image that came to me while I was working at one of my two bill-paying day-jobs. I guess total drudgery can be inspirational after all.
In any case, he is currently rustling up some conceptual sketches to make sure we're both on the same page, contacting...

Cover photo wanted
Calling all photographers:
Naked Montreal needs a cover—something that conjures up images of sexy Montrealers doing saucy things, but without any actual nudity. (I know, bummer. Just trust me on this when I say that nudity has its place, but that place is not the cover of my book.) Something sensual, something sexy. Something suggestive. And definitely something shot somewhere in Montreal.
Preferably, someplace recognizably Montreal.
So I charge my photographer friends with this task: take the s...
