Top 100
The Portal Between
is at #92 in UK Kindle Store > Kindle Books > Fantasy > Contemporary. I'm in the top 100 of something, how cool is that?
The Kindle store for Amazon UK is so new that these initial sales are the time when a few sales will rocket a title up the charts more than they will in a month or two when it's all settled down. So I know these figures and rankings are a little unrealistic and do reflect the time in which they stand.
But I was still number 92 for a while and that...

The Map and The Stone
My first book aimed intentionally for younger readers, after the demands of my children who protested they aren't allowed to read my Adult Portal Series.

The Map and The Stone
THE MAP AND THE STONE is so close to release now. I'm just waiting for a couple of images to come in and I promised to hang on til the end of July. But the story is formatted, dedication written, acknowledgements and thank you page all done, copyright page sorted and ISBN attached. The cover is done and the interior is littered with fabulous artwork from a variety of artists.
Which reminds me, I do need to update THE MAP AND THE STONE Artwork page to reflect the artists properly and if you...

Dedication vs Acknowledgements.
For the first time I've just dedicated a book to someone. I've given it a whole page to itself, separate from the Acknowledgements.
I've thanked people in previous books, I've given special mentions – but those are simple acknowledgements that I'd not have finished the work without their support and friendship.
This is different, this is a proper "This book is dedicated to.." It feels very different.

Who likes ebooks?
There are so many good things about ebooks, even for those of you, like me, who love proper printed paper books. In no particular order….
ebooks tend to be cheaper than printedyou can load loads of books onto an ereader and take them ALL on holiday with you.ereaders tend to be lighter than paper books so easier for those in hospital, ill or with wrist problems. (I know my wrists ache if I've been reading a heavy book!)it's all eco friendly – think of the trees used to create those paper...June 25, 2010
The Map and The Stone – Illustrator(s) wanted.
I have a kids book in the pipeline – close to ready in fact and I think I want some illustrations. The book is a fantasy aimed at kids aged 10/11 and over. I'll want 14 black and white images for the interior, and also looking for a cover if anyone fancies giving that a go.
I can email the book to whoever wants to have a go.
Bartering:
I'd like to make this a bartering/cashless transaction if I can.So I'm not going to pay anyone for their work, but am happy to credit the artist(s) with a...June 24, 2010
Sage and the car.
A dream.
I like dreaming my writing. It's somehow really connected and visual like watching the film, or being in the story.
Sage leaned back in the seat and waited for the sensation she knew was coming, knowing she had to hide any reaction from her passenger.
There, the movement on her back, a soft tickle on her lower spine at waist level. Then the sharp stab. She barely flinched.
It's a fragment and I have notes for the rest of the scene, including an explanation, but that's for November…
Well,...

Almost there.
The Map and The Stone has an isbn and there's a cover being developed. I'm on a round of editing that should be one of the last, although I suspect you can never be properly "finished". There's always something else to change and tweak. I just have to find a place where I can balance the "I think it's done" with "I never want to see that book ever again"I'm planning on releasing this one in two stages. The first phase will be a site exclusive where the only place you can buy it will be...

Blog upgrade.
In the process of tinkering with the website and blog I've upgraded to Wp3.0 I think it's all gone in smoothly but as always, please do leave me a note to let me know if you find anything broken or odd.
Thanks.
