What's Happening?
It's been a while since I've posted an entry here that's not a New Release promo for another author. As I've mentioned before, it's hard for me to talk about myself. I love to talk about my books, but I really suck at talking about my daily routine, how I write, the life of a writer, and those other good things other authors post. I'm trying to get over it. There's no need to have a blog, which isn't anything more than a web diary, if I'm not going to share on a regular basis. Right?
Well, the release of Born To Be Wild was wonderful. Release month (June) sales met my expectations. July and August were very good, but I've been wrestling with myself about my expectations. Although I am so thankful for each and every sale, I wonder if my expectations have been too low. Selling one thousand copies on Amazon during a release month seems like a dream to some indie authors, but compared to what big name romance authors sell during the first thirty days after releasing a new book, it's just a drop in the bucket.
My problem(s) is that I have no desire to work like a maniac to get those numbers. I do some paid advertising and lots of free social network promotion, but I'm so not interested in going out and doing signings, traveling to literary events in other states, doing blog radio shows, cable TV, etc., it's not even funny. Thank God for the Internet. I do quite a few online events to interact with readers online without having to go through a whole lot of aggravation. In fact, I'm doing one on Saturday. The majority of my writing colleagues are younger than I am, and they get a real charge out of doing this stuff. When I see pictures from the events, I feel as though I missed out on something wonderful. Yet, it's still not enough to drive me to participate. Perhaps if I did, my sales would increase. Maybe not.
That being said, let me tell about what I've been doing. Hubby and I are getting ready to do two local events in September and October. He's an artist who paints beautifully but has never offered any of his work for sale. Most of his work is landscapes and other settings.
I've already ordered our table banners, racks and stands, and I've checked out how other authors decorate their tables for events. So I'm stepping out of my cozy little author comfort zone. I'll post about each event once it's over and let everyone know how it went.

, Book Two in The Lake Series. This is Breelyn's story. If you read
Born To Be Wild
, you know that Bree is Tangie's best friend. She's the waitress with the purple hair and a singer whose dream is to become a recording artist.
I always need to start with the visuals of my characters, and this is the one I put together for Book Two.
Originally, I'd considered having Spence be Bree's love interest, but after brainstorming with a few of my author buddies, I needed to present her with a challenge. She and Spence are too much alike - rebels who delight in going against the expected. So I decided to use gorgeous model/actor Travis Cure as the character role model for the man who comes into Bree's life.
Tangie left Eufaula, Alabama, the small lake town that my husband and I visited last summer, at the end of Book One. I didn't want Bree leaving too, so even though her career will be centered in Atlanta, I came up with a reason for her to stay. After all, the series is about Eufaula.
In keeping with the titles of my other books, this one has a theme song. A Song For You was made famous by the late Donny Hathaway. I'm sure you've heard dozens of contestants on American Idol/The Voice/America's Got Talent use it as their audition song. Donny's version is my favorite, but since this is Bree's story, I wanted it sung by a female. This cover by Christina Aguilera is wonderful!

Status Update
Sales of Born To Be Wild have been wonderful. On Friday morning more than 600 copies had been purchased, and it hasn't been a month yet! Thank you to everyone who bought the book. Your support is appreciated more than you know.

Peeling his eyes away from her chest was not easy, but he tried. With the black skirt suit plastered around her body so tight, she looked like a bomb waiting to explode.
Electric currents flashed through his body and he laughed to quench the upsurge.
Up close, she looked a little older than he’d thought, still, she was a raving beauty.
“And what was it you wanted from the dancer?” Ronke asked with her arms folded beneath her busts, pushing her breasts further out of her top.
And for a fleeting second, he wondered if she wedged her full breasts with a lacy bra.
“Are you kidding me, Ma’am? You’re not going to deny the fact you’re an erotic dancer over the weekend and a learned woman during the week?”
With her butt perched against her curved walnut desk and her legs crossed at the ankle, she looked like a sexy model about to strip off her clothes for the camera.
And as long as he was the photographer, they would have an album of perfect shots.

Teaser Aize raised her eyebrows at the insane assumption she would even consider going anywhere with Theo – a man she had just met.
‘You will be in good hands,’ the doctor carried on. ‘Theo has assured me he will drive you home and make sure you follow my advice. I understand your car is quite a wreck at the moment.’ Doctor Garrick emphasized the word, wreck as if she needed a reminder. At least she was not dead, a damaged car could be replaced.
Narrowing her eyes at Theo, Aize whispered, ‘Are you a doctor or a nurse? And why do you think I’ll go anywhere with you? I could always take a taxi.’ But the idea of getting into a taxi in her condition made her want to puke.
Shaking his head with his brow furrowed, Theo spoke gently in her ear. ‘Although I’m neither a doctor nor a nurse, there’s nothing a week’s rest, good food and tender loving care can’t put right in your situation. I will look after you if you’ll allow me.’
Theo’s heated breath blew her skin hot and her body trembled. Not to mention his vibrating voice in her ear. Pressing her lips to keep from moaning out loud, Aize nodded. There was no point exchanging words with this man, he just did not give up.
‘Okay, you win,’ she conceded just to get Theo off her back.
Her self-imposed caregiver for the next week stretched to his full height and shook hands with Doctor Garrick. ‘Thank you, Doc for all your help.’
Theo’s grin, which was not even aimed at her, left a honey feeling inside her stomach.
As soon as Doctor Garrick left the room, silence took control, heightening the slowly building tension between Theo and Aize.
To ease the edgy moment, she looked up at him, and he winked at her with a cute grin on his lips. Again, she lowered her lashes, but not before a small chuckle raced out of her mouth.
One would think they were flirting, but Aize was doing no such thing. At least that was what she believed.

“What I do with my time is none of your business,” Ronke snapped as she swivelled around. But a sly grin wired her full lips as she got up on her feet.
Gone was the dark gown. And so was the funny wig. Now, her silky white ruffled top fell wide open, enough for him to see the swell of her cleavage.
Peeling his eyes away from her chest was not easy, but he tried. With the black skirt suit plastered around her body so tight, she looked like a bomb waiting to explode.
Electric currents flashed through his body and he laughed to quench the upsurge.
Up close, she looked a little older than he’d thought, still, she was a raving beauty.

Teaser Aize raised her eyebrows at the insane assumption she would even consider going anywhere with Theo – a man she had just met.
‘You will be in good hands,’ the doctor carried on. ‘Theo has assured me he will drive you home and make sure you follow my advice. I understand your car is quite a wreck at the moment.’ Doctor Garrick emphasized the word, wreck as if she needed a reminder. At least she was not dead, a damaged car could be replaced.
Narrowing her eyes at Theo, Aize whispered, ‘Are you a doctor or a nurse? And why do you think I’ll go anywhere with you? I could always take a taxi.’ But the idea of getting into a taxi in her condition made her want to puke.
Shaking his head with his brow furrowed, Theo spoke gently in her ear. ‘Although I’m neither a doctor nor a nurse, there’s nothing a week’s rest, good food and tender loving care can’t put right in your situation. I will look after you if you’ll allow me.’
Theo’s heated breath blew her skin hot and her body trembled. Not to mention his vibrating voice in her ear. Pressing her lips to keep from moaning out loud, Aize nodded. There was no point exchanging words with this man, he just did not give up.

Theo’s grin, which was not even aimed at her, left a honey feeling inside her stomach.
As soon as Doctor Garrick left the room, silence took control, heightening the slowly building tension between Theo and Aize.
To ease the edgy moment, she looked up at him, and he winked at her with a cute grin on his lips. Again, she lowered her lashes, but not before a small chuckle raced out of her mouth.
