09.23.2012 #SixSunday with Last Call

Coming soon to FTMP!
Unsure of who–or where–their enemies might be, Nick took Rhys to the shelter of a nearby boat while he figured out his next move. He hoped talking to her would make sense of what happened, but there seem to be more questions than answers.
Nick’s stomach knotted with the possibilities, none of which were good. Had Rhys’s so-called death been planned all along, or was it a botched job? Either way, why would Rhys be involved with the cops? And involved or not, splashing her face across the news wasn’t the most prudent way to protect her or any undercover investigation of which she’d ever had a part. She’d used an alias, but there was no forgetting those deep blue eyes or the way her natural blonde highlights fell tousled around her face, as if she’d just crawled out of some lucky bastard’s bed.
His world felt uneven, and it had nothing to do with the random pitch of the boat.

Coming soon to FTMP!
Still working on the dratted computer issues. I’ll catch up as I can during the week. ;c)
Nick went to a burned-out warehouse because he was promised information about Rhys. There, he was greeted by a gun at the base of his skull and an offer he couldn’t refuse: Keep Rhys alive and hidden, or they’ll both die.
All the times he imagined her in his arms, and he’d only managed it twice–once when he’d shot her, and again when someone else had. Or so he’d heard, but the media obviously had this one wrong. She was very much alive, and his suspicions were more on point than ever. The entire situation screamed a cover up, but if the cops wanted to purport her death—something not unprecedented when it came to protecting a witness or an undercover operation—it made zero sense a thug with a gun would be the one handing her over to anyone, let alone Nick.
That last part had been a mistake. A big one.

Kellie Kamryn: Secrets and Desires of the Heart (Give@way – US/CAN Print or INT ebook)
A guest blog from Kellie Kamryn
Thanks for having me as a guest on your blog today Sarah! Today I wanted to share my poetry collection with you – Secrets and Desires of the Heart. Poetry is always personal to me whether it’s about something I experienced or events I witness in other people’s lives. Not all of it is factual! The erotic portion of the collection most certainly isn’t, but rather inspired by whatever it is that sparks the creative process, and a few poems were written as a challenge from other author’s to create a piece I hadn’t written before.
It is now available in paperback, ebook and in audio formats. I am very excited about that! Recording the audio for the collection gave it that much more of a personal touch. There was one glitch however, and the company distributing the audio version put up the wrong sample – it’s my voice, but it’s from another author’s book. Hopefully, they will have this fixed shortly! It is available for sale in all those formats at:
Amazon | Barnes and Noble | Audible.com
The Most Beautiful Thing I Wear
By Kellie Kamryn
Painted eyes and glossy lips,
or a beautiful dress that hugs me at the hips.
But the most beautiful thing I wear, you see,
is the arms of my man around me.
High-heeled shoes and a mini-skirt,
a tight fitting tank or a man’s T-shirt,
but the most beautiful thing I wear, you see,
is the arms of my man around me.
A little perfume and a black lace bra,
matching undies and he’s in awe,
but the most beautiful thing I wear, you see,
is the arms of my man around me.
Strappy sandals and tight blue jeans,
a form-fitting T — you know what I mean!
but the most beautiful thing I wear, you see,
is the arms of my man around me.
A couple of diamonds and the right accessories,
the right shade color of a revealing bikini,
but the most beautiful thing I wear, you see,
is the arms of my man around me.
Lacey, sexy pink see through lingerie
or flannel pajamas — depends on my mood today,
but the most beautiful thing I wear, you see,
is the arms of my man around me.
People always ask me where my inspiration comes from for poetry. For me, a poem is just something that demands to be written. An event, a sentence, anything will spark an idea and it will be like a runaway train. I have to find a pen and paper and write it down immediately. Poetry is always written in spurts for me. Sometimes I write a lot of poems at once. Currently, I can’t remember the last time I wrote a poem! When the muse strikes, I’ll have more!
Giveaway
Thank you once again, Sarah, for having me on your blog today. To one lucky commenter, I will give away a paperback copy of the book if you live in Canada or the US, and if you’re from overseas, I’ll email a pdf copy. Thanks for stopping by!

Indulge in this steamy contemporary romance by Amber Lea Easton, then find out how enter to win one of ten copies. Let’s check it out!
Riptide
Author: Amber Lea Easton
Publisher: Siren-Bookstrand
Length: 98,000 words
Genres: Contemporary Romantic Suspense (Adventure)
Heat Level: Steamy
One violent night shatters Lauren Biltmore’s life. As an anchorwoman, she’s accustomed to reporting the news rather than being the lead story. She escapes the spotlight by fleeing to her brother’s home in the Cayman Islands. Haunted by nightmares, all she wants is a distraction from reality.
Distraction arrives via sexy screenwriter, Noah Reynolds. His take-me-to-bed looks mask a past ripe with scandal. He knows he should stay away from Lauren, especially when the worst night of her life unlocks his writer’s block and while he’s dealing with a stalker of his own, but ethics are his weakness.
Attraction sizzles beneath Caribbean sunshine. As their relationship grows, Noah’s stalker intensifies her torment. Lauren wonders if her paranoia is justified or a carryover from her past. What’s real? What’s imagined? Tentative trust is tested as their love is swept up against a riptide of deceit, murder, and revenge.
Excerpt
Surrendering, she leaned her head against his shoulder and held on as if her life depended on it. When he wrapped his arms around her, she closed her eyes. He felt like a safe haven in a storm.
“When you look at me, do you think about why I’m here or what I’ve done like Larry does? Tell me the truth,” she whispered against his neck.
“No, I don’t. That’s the truth.” Fingers on her chin, he tilted her face up to look at him. “I see a beautiful woman who’s my friend’s sister and who I’ve been having elicit fantasies about for nearly forty-eight hours even though I know it’s a bad idea.”
“It is a bad idea.” She stared into his eyes as if trying to see his soul. She needed at least one person in this world who didn’t think of her as damaged. “You don’t know me. You don’t know what I’m capable of. I saw the way you looked at me back there. You were wondering if I’d snap.”
“Because a man had been shot next to you, not because of your past. Damn it, I’m shaken up myself.” He pressed his forehead against hers. “You tried to protect me, wanted me to tamper with evidence, that’s sexy as hell.”
She grinned despite the weight that had fallen on her shoulders. “I wanted to see what was in the envelope.”
“Ahh…so you were driven by curiosity.” His thumb traced the curve of her lower lip. “You’re one helluva woman, Lauren Biltmore.”
“You don’t know me.” She looped her hands around his neck and leaned closer. Damn, the man felt like heaven. “Is someone trying to hurt you, Noah?”
In the darkness, it was hard to tell if the shadows across his face were caused by clouds over the moon or unspoken emotion.
“No one’s trying to hurt me.” His grin seemed fake. “Let’s get you back to Austin’s.”
She held him when he would have stepped back. “You’re lying.”
He pushed his hands through her hair, gaze scanning her face. “Like you said, I don’t know you, and you don’t know me. Maybe it’s best if we stop this before it goes any further. You don’t need my kind of trouble in your life right now.”
“Maybe your kind of trouble is exactly what I need.” She kissed him because the adrenaline surging through her body needed release, and he was the perfect outlet.
He matched her intensity with a fierceness that weakened her knees. She sagged against him, hands clinging to his shoulders for support. Trouble or not, the man kissed like a porn star. Damn, he melted the skin from her bones with every stroke of his tongue against hers.
Her hands roamed over his shoulders to his back. She pressed closer, craving skin on skin. One thought and one thought only penetrated her mind…sex. She wanted him inside her. Now. Fast. To hell with the consequences.
Together they fell against the sand with laughter tangled between their lips. Somewhere between fleeing a crime scene and kissing, fear had transitioned to passion. She needed his touch, his mouth, his body heavy against hers. Desire consumed every cell of her body.
“We’re the most unethical people I know,” he said against her mouth. “I shouldn’t be proud of that, but strangely I am.”
“Take me back to Austin’s. Stay with me.” She caught his lip lightly between her teeth and stared into his eyes.
His hand slid beneath her skirt and up her thigh. “I don’t know if we’re good or bad for each other. I’m not thinking clearly at all around you, making bad decisions, dragging you along with me.”
“I’m going willingly.” She nipped his neck, her hands smoothing down his back before grabbing his ass. “We have too many clothes on.”
“And we’re on a beach within view of anyone who happens to walk by and look closely enough.” He laughed against the side of her face. “Let me take you home.”
“And you’ll stay with me?” She kissed him again, unwilling to let him go. He felt too damn good pressing her into the cool sand at her back.
His kiss softened and teased as his hand caressed her naked thigh beneath the skirt, his thumb moving over her panties. She hungered for him like a woman coming off a diet craved chocolate.
“I’m such a bastard,” he whispered before rolling off of her and covering his face with his hands. “I can’t do this. It’s not right.”
The abruptness of his absence rattled her. They laid side-by-side, their breathing labored and a sea of stars above them.
“Do what? Me? Us? What can’t you do?” she asked even though she didn’t want to talk. No, talking was the furthest thing from her agenda.
“I can’t be the man you need me to be.” He sat up and looked toward the ocean. “That’s just how it is. I’m not a good guy. It’s for the best. Trust me.”

Although she holds a BA in Communications & Journalism, she is a perpetual student of life who enjoys taking post-graduate courses on a wide variety of subjects when time allows. 09.09.12 #SixSunday with Last Call

Coming soon to FTMP!
Still working on the dratted computer issues. I’ll catch up as I can during the week. ;c)
An anonymous phone promising information about Rhys led Nick to an abandoned warehouse. At first glance, the dark building appeared empty. Then a distant noise crept through the space.
Tension prickled his skin as he closed in on the far corner of the warehouse, the quiet scuffle against the concrete floor leading the way. Through the darkness, a form began to take shape.
A body.
No. Nick shook it off . . . his imagination was working overtime.
Only it wasn’t.

“Only Scandal Will Do” for Jenna Jaxon (Give@way)
I adore Jenna Jaxon. I’ve followed her work through Six Sentence Sunday and Sweet Saturday Samples for some time, and it’s exquisite. Her voice and characters never fail to sweep me away, and I’m so happy today to have her here with an awesome book which you most certainly may judge by its cover. (Isn’t it gorgeous?) Y’all play nice with Jenna (or maybe she prefers it naughty?) and don’t forget to leave a comment at the end because someone is going home with a swag pack. Let’s meet her!
Welcome, Jenna, and congratulations on the release of Only Scandal Will Do! I’ve followed this (er . . . maddeningly delicious) book on your blog and I’m so excited it’s out. Can you share snippets from some of your favorite reviews?
Thank you so much, Sarah, for having me on your blog today! Wow! I’ve gotten so many wonderful reviews so far for Scandal. But here are a couple of my favorite quotes:
“The characters are well-developed and sympathetic, and Duncan, with the care and gallantry he exhibits toward his reluctant wife, is quite a dish. The writing and plotting are excellent. If you enjoy Regency romance, this one should be at the top of your reading list.”
“Only Scandal Will Do is a fantastic book! I say run, don’t walk, run, get it!”
“The writing was excellent, just the right amount of detail that I could decide for myself how to picture scenery and characters, fast-paced with awesome sword fights and an intriguing plot that will keep you guessing.”
“The historical accuracy is flawless and the prose is like eating a rich dessert.”
Those are uber-fab reviews! I am dying to crack it open, but for those who aren’t familiar, will you tell us about the book?
Kidnapped and sold at auction in a London brothel, Lady Katarina Fitzwilliam squelches an undeniable attraction to the masked stranger who purchased her, pits her wits against him, and escapes him and the scandal that would ruin her life.
Unable to resist temptation in a London brothel, Duncan Ferrers, Marquess of Dalbury, purchases a fiery beauty. She claims she’s a lady, but how can she be? No lady of his acquaintance in polite society is anything like her. Then he discovers she is who she says, and that this latest romp has compromised her reputation. He knows how that is. One more scandal and he’ll be cast out of London society, but he needs a wife who’ll provide an heir to carry on his illustrious family’s name. He seeks out Katarina, intending only to scotch the scandal, but instead finds his heart ensnared. He’s betting their future he’ll capture her heart, but does he have what it takes to win the wager?
*Swoon.* Okay, scoop us. What might readers be surprised to learn about the plot or characters of Only Scandal Will Do?
Most surprising, as I revealed in a previous post, is that the plot started out with a rape scene that quickly changed to seduction. And I had to make Katarina like Duncan sooner; she really didn’t want to at all. LOL
Seductions are delicious, and I’m certainly glad that one took a turn for the better. (Eeep!) Let’s have some fun with Only Scandal Will Do. What’s the first sentence?
“Put her back in the carriage, now!” Her assailant snarled the brusque command, sending a shiver of fear through Lady Katarina Fitzwilliam.
Wow, what an entrance! LOL. What’s your favorite line in the book?
That’s hard because I have a bunch I love. But this one comes first to mind:
“I can swear to you that I would not marry you if I were in Hell and you were my only hope of Heaven.” And Duncan’s rejoinder, “Is there nothing that would entice you to leave your Hell for my Heaven?”
I LOVE that! Tease us some more? How about an excerpt … three sentences long! Yep, that’s it. Three!
Wow. You drive a hard bargain! Okay. How about this, from the same scene as the above quotes:
His tone was soft, the sensuous, cajoling one he had used to seduce her that night in the House of Pleasure.
Kat trembled, recalling the incredible sensations of his hands, his mouth on her body. Damn it, he could not do this to her again–not just with his voice.
Oh, I’m sorry. Was I drooling? *sigh* While I try to make myself presentable, share with us which scene was most difficult for you to write. Why?
The scene in Kat’s bedroom just after their wedding. I re-wrote and re-wrote, trying to achieve a balance between the characters. I needed to show vulnerability in both, yet the strength that kept each one stubbornly believing they were right. Thank goodness, with the help of my crit partners, it finally achieved that delicate balance.
I love how they’re both “stubbornly right” in the bedroom after the wedding. Buahahaha! Which scene would you most like to experience for yourself? From whose POV?
Oh, now that’s just wicked, Sarah! There are several, but I really must admit the first love scene would probably be my choice, from Kat’s POV, of course.*fans self*
Yeah. I’m wicked. *nudges person to my left* LOL. I love the title. What inspired it?
That is an interesting story, because the title, up until I began to query the book, was The Marquess Makes A Mistake. I had the good sense to realize this was NOT a winning title. LOL So I sat down and started making lists of titles. I knew I wanted this to be a series, so I had in mind I’d like a repeated word or phrase, like Mary Balogh’s Simply or Slightly series. I wanted to focus on what the core issue of the book was, and I decided scandal was possibly the key. A great word for the title of a period romance. And thinking about how the threat of scandal is the catalyst for each of them, I came up with the phrase “Only scandal will do to bring them together,” and that was it. Search over. It works well for the rest of the series too. J
I love it. LOVE it! (Can I have it? No? Okay.) On what are you currently working?
I have several projects I’m working on at the moment, including revisions to the next book in the House of Pleasure (Scandal) series, Only Marriage Will Do. It’s Duncan’s sister, Juliet’s, story. But my next release, in edits right now, will be an erotic contemporary called 7 Days of Seduction. And in mid-October I’m hoping to release the first book of my medieval trilogy, Time Enough to Love. This novella is called Betrothal, and the remaining two books will be released in the following months–Betrayal in November and Beleaguered in December. That’s the plan, anyway. And my Victorian romance, As Long As You’re Mine, is currently out to agents.
*fell over in awe*
