Friday Dilemma

What to do? What to do?Fridays are usually reserved as a no-writing work day. I do other things like read, or sleep, or play cards. However, I've been away from writing for so long, I feel the need to 'catch-up,' as it were. I'm not sure what to do now. Should I write? Or should I spend the day in abject boredom, feeling guilty because I could be writing? There's no competition, really. As

Dude... Wait... What?

I'm away with the faeries right now, as my grandmother would say. My brain isn't functioning properly, I'm feeling tired, and more than a little vague. Luckily for you, this translates into a very short blog post.Writing yesterday went well. I got in the next 3 000 words. I even managed, later in the afternoon, to do around 49 pages of Beta Reading for my mother, who is working on a YA novel.

Reading and Writing

Looking back over this past week, I have to say, I'm impressed with myself. I read quite a few books in a short space of time. Granted, none of the books were overly dense, so they were easy reads.I really should read more often. Everyone should read more often. Ahhhh.... books. There is one thing I noticed while reading. Holding something in my hand, physically turning the pages, feeling the

Book Review: Remember Me?

Remember Me? by Sophie KinsellaMy rating: 3 of 5 starsDon't expect great things from this book. It isn't ground-breaking. It's horribly formulaic, predictable and, all in all, pretty silly. That is to say, this book is perfect for those once in a while reads where you just need something light and dopey to boost your mood.To be perfectly honest, I don't really read these sorts of books very

Book Review: Deception

Deception by Jaimey GrantMy rating: 4 of 5 starsOnce again in the interest of transparency, I will note that I know the author. I will also say that Romance is something I tend to avoid because it all runs more or less the same. Man sees woman. Woman sees man. For some reason (be it mutual loathing, social systems, or some other equally dull reason) they cannot be together. Love eventually

Book Review: Web Secrets

Web Secrets by Ronnie DauberMy rating: 4 of 5 starsAgain, in the interest of honesty, I know the author. Like others I've read, this book is typically out of my reading field, it not being Fantasy, and all. That out of the way, I really, really liked this book.I generally don't read these type of books because I find them terribly predictable. Indeed, in this one, I spotted the villain the

Book Review: Infidel by Ayaan Hirsi Ali

Infidel by Ayaan Hirsi AliMy rating: 5 of 5 starsThis book came to me at the right time. I have only this to say, this book was brilliant. It was so good it had me doing something I hadn't done since High school - I walked home with my nose pressed between the pages. In fact, I finished the book last evening as I walked. It was that good.Infidel was the first ever book by Ayaan Hirsi Ali I have

There's a Song for That

My foul mood has worsened. I'm not just down, I'm also really ticked off.Of course, that might have a lot to do with the stress of waking up to find you ought to have left the house 15 minutes ago, finding you have no bus tickets, rushing to the store to get some to find two people with baskets of groceries before you (at a Shoppers Drug Mart... really?), have the first one count out pennies

Cleverness Here

I really couldn't think of a clever blog post title today. I'm in a mood. The kind of mood that has me wanting to stay home and curl up under a warm blanket with a large bottle of some kind of strong spirit. Not gin, though. This morning, I was almost hit by a car. When I say almost, I'm praising air brakes, otherwise I'm pretty sure I'd be in the hospital by now. The thing was, it was
