New Releases

I love Midnight and hope you will to. You can find it at Noble Romance.

This cover is special to me, as is the story. That's my mother in the portrait. Her name was Gladys Isabelle Sweener Martinson and she was indeed beautiful. We lost her in 1999 at the age of 70.
The story is loosely based on a real incident in my own family tree, with a major dose of artistic license.
Have you visited the Riptide Blog Tour? Check the side bar and come one along with us. Lots of prizes along the way.
Till next time,Luv,Brita

End of Gay Lit
[image error]
Oh, boy, did I have a great time at Gay Lit in New Orleans. Seeing authors whose work I love was amazing. The first was Bryl R. Tyne, who I feel so fortunate to have as my friend. He drove to my home, picked me up and drive us both to the Big Easy. The conversation was about writing and our favorite books. Of course, I talked about his work, from Tough Guy to Alipio - great pieces all. The pic at the left is Bryl and I at a book signing.
The atmosphere in New Orleans is addictive. There's fun on every corner, music wafting through the air at every hour of the day and food that no one has enough time to sample. But none of that held any appeal compared to what waited for us after we checked into the hotel.
The first author I saw and recognized was J.P. Bowie. I love his Early American stories and told him so. He's just a regular guy. He remembered me over the course of the weekend and I loved that.
I was thrilled to meet my fellow Riptide authors, Damon Suede (with me on the right), Rachel Haimowitz, and Cat Grant. Very nice people with tons of talent. Dinner with them, Bryl, Taylor V. Donovan, L.C. Chase, Marie Sexton, Heidi Cullinan (who I didn't have the courage to approach, I'm such a fan!!), Z. A. Maxfield and Cherie Noel was so much fun and I learned so much.
The author readings and spotlights made me a fan of several folks and the friendliness of others endeared them to me.
Readers were so special and I love meeting every one of them. To hear voices behind me saying, "There's Brita Addams," blew me away. Who, little ole me? Unreal.
Thank you all for a wonderful retreat. I'll be back next year and I already look forward to seeing everyone again.

Bryl Tyne and Betty Crocker
Bryl Tyne and I are in New Orleans for the Gay Lit Retreat. We went to the hotel yesterday and met some authors, but today is the big day. We've stayed in a hotel just outside the city for the last two nights, but we check into the Bourbon Orleans later today and we'll be amongst so many of those we want to meet.
Last night, we met my son at a Mexican restaurant that has been a fave of my husband and I for years, having lived in the area until three years ago. I hadn't seen Chris in a couple of months and I can't tell you how wonderful it was to spend a couple of hours with him over wine and some really good food.
Bryl asked him if he read any of the stuff I write and he said no. When asked why, he answered, "My Mom has always been Betty Crocker and to read the love scenes and know that the words the characters are saying are my Mom's words, is just more than I can handle."
We laughed about it, but it made me think. Yeah, I baked, A LOT, especially chocolate chip cookies with pecans, which were always a family fave. I did my share of the cooking and then some, too. Cleaned house and cleaned up after everyone.
How life has changed for this Betty Crocker clone. Now I write erotic romance and of late, erotica and I can honestly say, though I love my family more than anything, I do love writing much more than I ever loved the house frau I was.
Chris and his sisters are fine with what I write, but all share the same opinion. It's just a bit squickly that Mom writes about writhing and thrusting. However, I'll always hear Chris' words when Bryl asked him how he felt about my writing. "I couldn't be prouder of her." That, coming from him, means the world.
Time for a nap. Bryl is a VERY early riser and woke me at 4:30 this morning. With all that's planned for today, if I don't get sleep, I'll won't be worth anything later on.
So I leave you with his. My new novella, A Minute After Midnight, which just came out on Monday, is #33 on the Amazon Gay and Lesbian list and number one of the Noble Romance top 10 list. I love that story and hope you will too.
Over and out,
Hugs from Ms. Sandpaper Eyes.

A Minute After Midnight & Gay Lit
A Minute After Midnight, my m/m Timeless Desire novella, was released today at Noble Romance. I love this story, I truly do. It's one of those stories you write and wish you'd written it a long time before. I hope you love this one too.
I'll be posting the schedule for the the Noble Romance Timeless Desire Blog Tour, which starts on November 8th. There are a bunch of great stories as part of this tour. Touching, poignant and well worth reading.
I'm off to New Orleans for the Gay Romance Literary Retreat, which starts on Thursday, the 13 and winds up on Sunday, the 16th. I'm very excited, as I get to meet my good friend, Bryl R. Tyne, who's driving to my home as we speak. OMG! I've read just about everything he's written and admire his writing so much and he's coming to pick me up and escort me to Gay Lit.
There, we'll meet some of our fellow Noble Romance and Riptide authors. I can't wait. Damon Suede, Rachel Haimowitz, and Cat Grant, all fellow members of Riptide's First Wave. I'm excited to meet them all, and D.C. Juris and writer for Noble and other pubs.
I'll be blogging about my Gay Lit experience on Rarely Dusty Books later in the month. I've been to New Orleans many, many times, having lived in the area for *hand over mouth* years, but I don't believe I've ever looked as forward to the journey. Authors, readers and bloggers will congregate at the Bourbon Orleans for book signings, meals with authors and just good old gab fests. I can't wait.
Off to pack. Bryl will be here in the morning. I hope I sleep for all the excitement.
Here's the blurb from A Minute After Midnight. Enjoy.
A fateful decision haunted Logan Chalmers for years. A high school reunion brings Reid Wright back to the old hometown, but will Reid even remember Logan or has he moved on to the bright future they were to share?
Following the rejection of the man he'd loved for most of his life, Reid moved away to seek his fortune. The hurt and anger allowed him to move on, but years later, only thoughts of Logan could bring him back for the reunion – that, and timeless desire.

Oh, my, it's been a few weeks since I've posted anything new here. Not that I've lacked creating posts, but they've been for the upcoming Riptide and Noble Romance Blog Tours. I've written tons of blog posts and answered more interview questions that I thought possible.I've asked myself repeatedly, "Am I really interesting enough for anyone to want to know this much about me?" That's one question I haven't been able to answer.
I've posted my October schedule for the Riptide tour in the sidebar. We'll be some busy, but it promises to be great fun. For the full schedule, with all the authors listed, check out the party page on the Riptide site. I'll be posting the schedule for Timeless Desire Noble Romance Tour as well.
In other news, I found out this week that Serenity's Dream, Lord Decadent's Obsession and Her Timeless Obsession, which I wrote under Tina Ordone, are now available in paperback. That's exciting. Can't wait to hold them in my hands.
On September 27, at Amara's Place, you'll get a first peek at my Romeo Club #1: Surprises. Amara will have an exclusive excerpt and prizes for contests during my stay there.
Gotta go answer some more interview questions.

I got my cover for my m/m novella, A Minute After Midnight. The story is:
Logan and Reid were separated by circumstances beyond their control. Only their timeless desire can change what happened all those years ago at a minute after midnight.
I truly love these guys. That would be Logan at the top and Reid at the bottom. The cover actually depicts a pivotal scene in the book
A Minute After Midnight will be released on October 10th.
On a different note, we had Tropical Storm Lee hit the Gulf Coast, threatening tornadoes along with lots of rain and wind. Our town was predicted to have a tornado or two, but thankfully, we just got several inches of rain and lots of wind.
Fiona (puppy) and Stormee (cat), didn't take kindly to all the racket. They were fidgety for two days while Lee worked his way through the area. My plants were floating, but at least the poor babies aren't crispy with all the southern heat.
Off to order bookmarks to take to Gay Lit in New Orleans. Catch you next time.

Disappointments & A New Kid on the Block
Have you ever had such high hopes for something and anticipated wonderful things, only to have reality snatch those pipe dreams from your grabby little hands? Yeah, me too.
I must say, that for the most part, life has treated me kindly but, yeah, I'm greedy and want everything to go well, for me and everyone else.
This past week I had some writerly unpleasantness, stemming from some writerly unpleasantness a few weeks ago, and it made me realize that sometimes there is a glittery package and not much substance in the box.
This is all very cryptic and it will remain so, but suffice it to say that there is pettiness in the world that unbecoming the positions that some people hold. A writer has the right, nay, obligation, to fight for something they believe in, and they shouldn't face retribution because of their stance. It's all business and should never get personal.
That said, a lesson has been learned this week and no one has to teach this gal twice. I'm moving on.
A couple of months ago, I had the great honor to be invited to submit a story to Riptide Publishing, a new gay fiction press set to open this fall. The major enticement is that it's owned by Aleksandr Voinov and Rachel Haimowitz, along with their partner Chris Hawkins.
Aleks has been a friend since I signed my first writing contract, was actually the first person to welcome me into the writing world, so he's not someone I could easily forget. Couple that with the fact that he's my favorite writer, and well, when you get the invite, you accept, no?
Aleks and Rachel are savvy. They understand the publishing world, in many, many ways, much better than many up and running publishers. They also understand writers, as they are first and foremost just that. Their contract is author friendly - no Right of First Refusal clause, which basically ties an author to a publisher if that author writes a series. They can't take their characters and go elsewhere, without the publisher having the first right to accept or reject the continuing stories. I shudder to think how many wonderful stories haven't been written because of that dastardly clause.
The royalty percentage is more than fair and the editing is Manhattan-style, which is a breath of fresh air. There is no holds barred when it comes to making the story the best it can be and I have the bruises to prove it. At first I was angry and defensive, but Aleks talked me off the roof and through it all, I learned new things, always a plus in my book.
And so, the Romeo Club was born. The first of a series of shorts. They are contemporary m/m erotica shorts and a great deal of fun to write.
I have two contracted and almost finished with the third. I'm also working on an historical for Riptide, though it is subject to acceptance. One of the best things about Riptide is that just because you have one story accepted doesn't mean they will all be accepted. Quality for the reading public is paramount in Riptide's business model.
It's an honor to be writing at Riptide and join authors like Damon Suede, Cat Grant, Storm Grant, Bryl R. Tyne, Gileonnen, Rhianon Etzweiler, Andrea Speed, Kari Gregg, L.A. Witt, Aleks and Rachel, as part of the first wave of authors at Riptide. Long live the Wave.
Now I'm off to write blurbs. Someone pull my teeth now please - as that is preferable to the dreaded blurb, which is only slightly more preferable to the hated synopsis.
Hugs till next time,
Brita

E-Book Signatures, In HIs Arms and Secrets
A couple of fun things to say here, before I go off on my date day with my husband. Movie and dinner, some laughs and great company. I do love Fridays.
Do you like the new header? My good friend Bryl R. Tyne made that for me, just cuz. Not only is he a great writer, but he's a very talented graphic designer. The site has undergone a bit of an overhaul, spring cleaning, whatever, but I kind of like the neatness of it.
We're gearing up for the release of In His Arms, the sequel to Free Me. If you'd like to know what happened to Phil and Bryan after the cruise, then you'll want to read In His Arms. It hits the Amber Allure virtual book stands on August 7.
Are you an Aleksandr Voinov fan? If you remember, Bryan is too. With my friend Aleks' kind permission, Sir Voinov makes an appearance as himself in In His Arms and makes Bryan a very happy guy (mind out of the gutter, please. Much tongue clucking going on here). Great fun!
You can read the blurb from In His Arms here.
On the cover, that's Bry in the background, and Phil up close. Hunky, huh?
Today, I signed up for a bit of heretofore unheard of technology. I can now sign any and all of your Brita Addams e-books. All you have to do is go here, and request my signature. Now, you must have a Kindle, as the signature is sent directly there. I'll even personalize the message.
A very top secret project is shaping up nicely and we can't wait to spill the beans. Soon. I'm writing like crazy, so watch for more BA goodies before the year ends. Do you like erotica?? Ohh, I hear you buzzing now.
Hugs to you,
Till next time
