Weekly Dynamic: Professional Service Tools 1099 Modifer

One of the cooler tools in the now free Professional Services Tools Library is the 1099 Modifier. The common scenario is that a vendor was not properly setup as a 1099 vendor and now there are transctions not marked as 1099 transactions.

The 1099 Modifier tool allows you to fix this by updating vendor 1099 amounts after setting the vendor 1099 flag.

You can also choose to just print a report showing what changes the 1099 Modifier will make when you run it.

Weekly Review: Copy/Move SSRS Reports Between Servers

If you need to copy or move SSRS reports between servers there is a great,
free utility called Reporting Services Scripter. It allows you automate the
deployment of SSRS reports, grab RDL files off of an existing server, including
the datasource and directory structure, and transfer the reports to a new
server. All of this without requiring BIDS or Visual Studio.

This tip was courtesy of Dwight Specht. Feel free to tell him that he rocks.

Dynamic Future - Vote - Payment Terms

While Dynamics GP has pretty flexible payment terms they aren't infinitely flexible and there are lots of situations that come up where improved payment term flexibility would help. With that in mind, suggestion 670856  is for improved Payment Terms.

If you want this, you have to vote.

Weekly Dynamic: Professional Service Tools Help

Now that the Professional Service Tools Library is free there is a lot of interest in the various tools. But if you want more information about a tool where to you? Certainly there has been coverage in various Dynamics GP blogs including this one but not every tool is covered in detail. You might be tempted to open the tools and hit F1 for help. Alas nothing happens.

There is no help file for the PSTL utilities but there is a very good manual. It installs by default in C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Dynamics\GP2010\ProfServicesToolsLibrary.pdf and it's really a very good base reference for the tools.

Reduced Posting Until July 1

As you read this I'm getting on a plane to Nairobi, Kenya to do missions work in and around the Kawangware slum until July 1. The blog is all setup with Weekly Dynamics, things to vote for and Weekly Reviews so you won't miss any of the big stuff. My internet access will be sporadic so you won't see the same level of posting that you're used to but I'll try to get all the big stuff and catch up once I'm back.

Weekly Review: Fast Access to Integrations in Dynamics GP

A common scenario with integrations is that
some users only run them on a periodic basis and it’s tough for these user to
remember how to access Integration Manager. Conversely there may also be a set
of employees who regularly run integrations and would like fast access to IM.

A simple solution for both scenarios is to add IM to either the Shortcut Bar
or the Menu Bar. On the Shortcut bar, add an external file and find IMRUN.exe to
add the ability to run integrations. On the menu bar, right click to customize
and Run Integrations… from the Dynamics GP | Tools tree.
