Okay, so, I totally forgot to record episode 19. (The LOST EPISODE! Oooooooh!) Actually, no. I wrote 6000 words yesterday, and totally spaced the podcast.
But here's the podcast for day 20.
Enjoy!
Go write.

Today, we rock it OLD SCHOOL STYLE, Baby.
And may I say, it felt sooooooo good to record this. So good, in fact, I recorded it again… and again… and again. Okay, part of that was because I was CONSTANTLY CRACKING UP because it felt SO GOOD to be doing that voice again. Big smile on my face.
I feel so good, in fact, I think I'll take a nap…
Enjoy!

Today, we talk about writing advice. That is, better advice than mine.
Here's those places I think you should go for writing advice.
murverse.com/isbw – I Should Be Writing
writingexcuses.com – Writing Excuses
And terribleminds.com – and here's that post I read today.
And here's today's podcast. Enjoy!

Four minutes to midnight… and cross posted at www.geeksurvivalguide.org
Competition. You're competing with yourself, yeah, sure. But it's much more fun to compete with other people! And beat them! Maybe.
Anyway, if you're stuck, throw down a gauntlet and challenge someone else to a word war (or sprint). Time it, and see how many words you can write than your competitors!
And have fun. Remember, this is just a first draft.
How is the NaNo Gaiden podcast doing? Are we helping? Hopefully? Let me know by dropping me a line.
And Enjoy!

If you are going to compare yourself to anyone, don't compare the quality of the work you're putting out. You may not be the best judge of your own creative output.
Compare the work and the hours that you put IN to your work. You'll never get Bruce Lee's (or Kevin J. Anderson's, or John Scalzi's, or Mary Robinette Kowal's) results without putting in Bruce Lee's (or KJA's, or JS's, or MRK's) hours. And I recognize that there are things like day jobs, families, kids, etc. The question is, how much time are you spending doing things that aren't that productive or, in the long run, worthwhile? How much time are you spending playing video games? (Yes, video games are fun, and I have sunk plenty of hours into Pokemon, Legen of Zelda, Arkham Asylum, and now DCUO.) Could you maybe be doing less of that, and more of the writing? Or whatever it is that you want to do, be it finger painting, music, exercise, etc?
Enjoy!

I think this is my 2nd favorite episode I've done ever in all three NaNoWriMo podcasts. Only the Black Friday Word Extravaganza of 2010 compares. (Eat your hearts out, Lolly Lolly Lolly.)
If you're behind, if you're not feeling motivated, I invite you to embrace your inner megalomaniac. Go Old Testament AND apocalyptic on your characters. Boo-yah!
But don't stand on your wobbly, pivoting office chair.
Enjoy!

Cross-posted at Geek Survival Guide. Late, I know, but still up within 24 hours of the last one.
And it's mid month, and the point is to get them all up and done and your 50,000 words done by the END of the month, right?
A little talk about taking the day off, about how NaNoWriMo is a metaphor for anything great or creative you want to do, and 10,000 hours.
Enjoy!

Day 12. You should be 20,004 words into your new novel. Yes, I know I said 2,004 at one point. I corrected it in the cast, you're not getting off that easy.
I believe that it's a fantastic idea to write a little extra each day and build in a cushion so when you have to, you can take a day off. Also, reward yourself for your good writing habits. I'm just sayin'. (Today, I found a Star Wars Roleplaying Game Core Rulebook-not saga edition, dagnabit, for $7.99. Hello, rewarding myself!)
Also, have the end in mind. Yes, it's good writing advice, as well as being one of the 7 habits of highly effective people. Have that ending in mind. Know where you think it's going. Build up to it.
Enjoy!

Day 11. You should be about 18,337 words into your new novel. No pressure. And if you're behind, no problem. I know people who have hit their 50k already, so you don't really need all 30 days to do this. And I write so that I can take at least one day off a week. You can do it, too!
Today's a riff off Thumper's Dad. Don't rip on other people's writing, and screw those people who may feel like ripping on yours. Find your audience, know they're out there, and write to them.
Enjoy!
And go write!

Feeling the 2nd week slump, hard core. But you can do it. Write the book that excites you. And try reading it out loud.
