Eva Shan Chou



Eva Shan Chou is a professor in the Department of English at Baruch College, specializing in Chinese literature, cultural identity, and the intersection of art and politics. She has written extensively on classical poetry, modern fiction, and ballet in China, with a dual focus on artistic creativity and the role of cultural production in shaping national identity.
Chou earned her B.A. and Ph.D. from Harvard University and was awarded a fellowship from the Bunting Institute at Radcliffe College. Her scholarly work includes studies of two literary giants— Du Fu (Cambridge University Press) and Lu Xun (Association for Asian Studies Publications)—examining both their artistic contributions and their political and cultural significance in China.
