High School? Already?

So, Thing One left for halls of high school this morning with her cousin and friend by her side.  And while I didn't cry, I did feel like I needed to take a few Xanax, knowing how difficult the high school years can be, and how many things I forgot to tell her before she started.

We've already had the drugs/alcohol/sex talk.  But her father and I both failed to have the older-boy-with-a-car talk.  Meaning, we forgot to tell her they were off limits.  And she's a very VERY cute girl, so it's on...

How young is too young, DWTS cast, and Justin Bieber's hair.

Just some random bits this morning.
How young is too young?
A thirteen year old motorcyclist died when he fell off his bike and was run over by a trailing motorcycle.  Though he was already a highly accomplished racer, he was also only 4' 11" and 81 pounds.  I mean, is this really old enough and big enough to be competing professionally?  I mean, these kids aren't even old enough to have a driver's license, yet they're allowing them to compete on bikes that can go up to 120 miles an hour?  It s...

The "D" word

Okay, I'll try to get back to the blog yet again.

So life has hit hard lately, as you probably grasped from my Facebook, blog, and whatnot.  My marriage is joining the statistical majority by being a victim of the Big D.  Divorce.  The reasons behind it are unimportant, what's important is that my husband and I are getting along famously, my children seem to be adjusting, and life just may be getting back to normal now.

This means of course that I've joined the ranks of the working class also. ...

To Anonymous...

Please stop posting your SPAM in my comments.  The people who read my blog don't care what you're selling.  You're an annoying nuisance that probably needs to go out and find a real job.  And I mean that in the nicest way possible.

Yours truly.

Megan

And for my REAL readers, my friend and fellow writer Cat and her family are in a video karaoke contest.  Please vote.  It's the Singing Roberts-Hit the Ground and Run.  Click here to vote.

It's very funny.

Thank you.

Ciao.

Things Megan has done the last month...

Moved

furnished a house using garage sales, craigslist, and the side of the road

Worked at a wine shop twice with a third time coming Thursday.

Looked for and found a job

spraypainted three tables, a dresser, a nightstand, and four chair

Erected a shelving unit and mounted it to the wall (for me, this is big)

Organized and placed orders for a soccer team as well as signing them up to a tournament.

Ordered cable, wireless, electricity, and pizza.

Figured out how to connect to her own wireless service...

Like a beating drum in my ears...

That line is from one of my poems, but it seemed apropos after I posted as my Facebook status update that I feel like an Eminem song.  Not so much in content, but in style.

Life seems a bit loud lately.  Kind of chaotic, irrational at times.  Sometimes it leaves me thinking what the hell just happened? It's moving so fast I can't keep up.  I'm angry, I'm scared, I'm confused, I'm frustrated, I rage at times.  And I don't know the words to my own life.  The music starts, and I begin singing, an...

Waiting for the cable guy...

Since I have some time to kill while waiting for the cable and wireless network guy, and since life is calming down a bit, I thought I would try to get back to the blog.

Much has happened the last few weeks.  I find myself embarking on new challenges that include moving, finding, a job, and working on revisions for my editor.  Life changing challenges.  And though at times things have been hectic, chaotic even, in the end, everything always seems to work itself out.  They work out not because ...

yet again...

Sorry to say I have to go on another hiatus.  Not sure how long this one will be.  I'm hoping to be back to it by the end of summer, but I have to get caught up on some personal stuff.

I'll keep reading your blogs.  Write well.

Megan.

Behind

Time to make myself accountable for the things I've fallen behind on during this busy, crazy, frustrating summer.  Of course, these are only my writing goals for the near future, the life stuff will have to fit in there between the cracks.

Three book reviews

Writing on the dystopian, Finding Nirvana, and another edit of Cheesy

Catching up in my critique group

Reading a couple more books for review

Filming a new author video

Sad to say that after I finish these last few book, I will only be doing re...

Muses

A lot of friends have mentioned their muses the last couple days, so I thought I would really sit and ponder where my motivation comes from.
I've always said that my craft mostly reflects life.  Sometimes I get story ideas from my own experiences, or base characters on people I know, myself included, but I need more than that.
The weather.  I know, it's crazy, but the weather has an effect on my mood.  I've always said I write better when I'm my most angsty, but thinking on it, that's not...
