The Viscount Who Loved Me by Julia Quinn (Review)

I first read this novel years ago and recently decided to reread it again, given all of the current Bridgerton hype. And just as much as I loved it when it first came out, I found myself falling in love with this story all over again.

By far, author Julia Quinn, is one of my all time favorite romance novelists and "The Viscount Who Loved Me," in my humble opinion, is one of her best works. After "Pride & Prejudice" by Jane Austen, "The Viscount Who Loved Me" remains as my personal favorite and one of the first romance novels that I read as a teenager that eventually, came to inspire me to later go on and write romance novels of my very own.

The story itself is a retelling of William Shakespeare's "The Taming of the Shrew," which is another one of my personal favorites by Shakespeare. It's a classic love v. hate relationship, in which both stubborn and headstrong characters eventually come to not only tolerate one another, but actually fall in love. And in the process, the readers are sent through a wild ride through their many adventures.

But apart from the spectacular storyline, the main couple themselves are both equally likable in their own separate ways. The pairing of headstrong Kate with stubborn Anthony were always my favorite couple in this series and together, they both shine in this novel.

If you're looking for a good enemies-to-lovers read, then this is the perfect romance novel to pick up. Highly recommend.

Also, side note, the book is very different from the television series, so if you do decide to read this, please keep an open mind. Personally, I do think the book far exceeds the television version. Although the television series was great too; however, I find the book to be a fantastic stand alone, all within itself. A true gem.

My Life is a Soap Opera by Kristina Stangl (New Release!)

Dear All!

I’m excited to announce my latest release, My Life is a Soap Opera, which is the third installment to the Sex, Lies & Politics Series and is now available for purchase on Amazon. However, please note, that this novella is a stand alone, so it can be read in any order in this series.

Here’s a sneak preview:

Shakespeare’s The Taming of the Shrew meets the world of politics, in a romantic soap opera-like modern fairy tale about a woman starting afresh amidst the disastrous aftermath of a lost election.

Known as the Shrew, Katherine Sharp is a strong, witty, determined and merciless up-and-coming politician who bows down to no one. Except this time around, her life-long dreams of reaching the senate’s floor have come crashing down into the oblivion. Reeling from the devastating loss of her unsuccessful campaign, Katherine must come to terms with her life moving forward. Can she forge a new path, outside of the gruesome world of politics? Will she have the courage to end her sham of an engagement to her philandering fiancé? And most importantly, will she finally take notice and a liking to her trustworthy assistant and sidekick, James Petruchio, the man known in the press as the only person who can tame her?

Enjoy!
