Giveaway Winner

Congratulations to Heather Garcia!  She won the Gift Certificate Giveaway!

There were 32 entries in all, and according to Randomizer.org, Heather is the the one.  She has been contacted via email.  I also promised to announce the winner via Blog, Facebook & Twitter so everyone can celebrate with her!  I'd have a parade for her, but the fish won't fall into formation, and the dog is snoring, so instead I'll throw cyber confetti and drink a cup of coffee in her hono...

Sweet Saturday Sample - Just Dessert

Welcome to my blog!  For today's Sweet Saturday Sample, I am sharing an excerpt from the twenty-first chapter of Just Dessert.  Summer is over, and Grady is returning to Texas.  This is his good-bye with Mary's younger brothers and sisters. (The boys are 13 & 14, and the girls are 9 & 10.) Don't worry, though…this isn't where the story ends.  The novel is complete but still in editing, so please forgive any mistakes.  Any and all feedback is welcome and...

I love all things Idaho.  My son has a blue and orange bowling ball.  Go Boise State!  When I long for extravagant coffee, I don't think Starbucks.  I think Moxie Java.  If I'm writing a frontier story and have questions about what cows eat or which types of crops grow where, I contact my agricultural guru at the University of Idaho in Moscow.

I could go on, but I'll try to restrain myself and...

When in Doubt, Toss the ‘Apology Flag’ - Guest Host Jeff Salter

I recently read a book about two people who, thanks to some spiked punch, found themselves in an awkward predicament that began a chain of events beyond their control.  Add to that some hysterically funny scenes and the exquisite use of a football metaphor, and you've got the recipe for a book well worth the read.  I enjoyed the football metaphor so much, in fact, that I asked the author to guest host my blog today and expound on that scene a bit.  Don't worry.  You don't...

Sweet Saturday Sample - Broken Beauty

Thank you for stopping by!  I'm sharing an excerpt today from my Work-In-Progress, a contemporary Christian romance called Broken Beauty.  This scene picks up right where last week's left off – As usual, Sophie was hoping to escape out the back of the sanctuary at church before anyone noticed her.  She had clearly not evaded notice as well as she'd thought, though.  A "behemoth of a man" blocked her exit and tried to speak to her…

Seasons of Life: Summer

If life is in seasons, then I'm in the summer of mine.  The sun is blazing down relentlessly, there's no shade in sight, and lizards, scorpions and snakes are everywhere.

So maybe that's a little extreme, but go with me on this.  I'm taking this analogy and turning it into a reminiscence of bygone years.  A hopefully entertaining rumination.

I spent some of my growing up years and young adulthood in the southwest.  The hot southwest.  Not the pretty mountainous...
