By Greg Palast GregPalast November 11, 2016
Starting in 2013 – just as the Supreme Court gutted the Voting Rights Act – a coterie of Trump operatives, under the direction of Kris Kobach, Kansas Secretary of State, created a system to purge 1.1 million Americans of color from the voter rolls of GOP–controlled states.
The system, called Crosscheck, is detailed in my Rolling Stone report,
“The GOP’s Stealth War on Voters,” 8/24/2016.

White House Gives Up On Passing The TPP
By Vicki Needham for the Hill.
The Obama administration’s won’t pursue passage of its signature Pacific Rim trade deal, dealing a major blow to President Obama’s legacy. Any hope of passing the sweeping 12-nation Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) quickly faded after Donald Trump’s surprise victory on Tuesday and pronouncements by congressional leaders that the pact would not be considered during the lame-duck session.
We have worked to stop the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) and other trade agreements for more than five years. We were part of the movement of movements, the largest coalition ever opposing a corporate trade agreement, that stopped it. People told us stopping the TPP was impossible. Even after the election of Trump people still told us we could not win. But, after years of work, the impossible became the inevitable and the TPP is dead. . .

Drain The Swamp then Fill it with NEW Swamp things? – No Surprise: Trump’s Transition Team is Filled With Swamp Things
*

The corporate insiders who lead Trump’s transition team.
Finding Truth In an Illusory World
If there is one thing I reiterate to people over and over again about politics is, politicians are always going to disappoint you. Donald Trump has started the transition process of going from President-Elect Trump to President Trump. There is a lot of work to be done and to make the process as smooth as possible; it’s in Trump’s best interest to choose people who know what they’re doing.
So for those with fantasies of Milo Yiannopoulos, Chuck Johnson or John Nolte being on the transition team, you’re going to be disappointed. Sure enough, while often referring to “draining the swamp,” Donald Trump is choosing for his transition team (headed by insider Chris Christie), a bunch of DC insiders.
That’s not a criticism. It’s a good move on Trump’s part. Here are some on that list, according to CNN:
Leaders in his transition include former Rep. Mike…

Trump: I’m Reopening 9/11 Investigation
*
Apparently Trump plans to keep his promise to re-open the investigation into 9-11.
YOUR PERCEPTION IS NOT REALITY
Donald Trump’s plans for his first 100 days in office are raising eyebrows around the world, but of all the items on his agenda it is the reopening of the 9/11 investigation that will provide the greatest earthquake for the establishment.
Trump believes that 9/11 has not been properly investigated and he plans to get to the bottom of it. “First of all, the original 9/11 investigation is a total mess and has to be reopened,” Trump said.
The election of Donald Trump has rocked the establishment and things are only going to get rockier for them during his first term. There is a reason George W. Bush didn’t vote for Trump in the election, leaving the presidential line blank and voting Republican down-ballot. Trump has pledged to investigate 9/11 in a way it has not been investigated before.
For the first time 9/11 will be investigated by someone who…

Can We Stop Climate Change Without Dismantling Capitalism?
The Cross of the Moment
By Jacob Freydont-Attie (2015)
Film Review
Can climate change be addressed without dismantling capitalism? The current track record of world leaders suggests not – especially with the election of the world’s most prominent climate denier to the US presidency.
The Cross of the Moment is a documentary exploring the climate change dilemma and various options for limiting global warming and mitigating the effects of catastrophic climate change. It’s produced in a panel discussion format, with the filmmaker posing specific questions to prominent astrophysicists, climate scientists, political economists and climate activists (including Bill McKibben, Gary Snyder, Derrick Jensen, Peter D. Ward, Jill Stein, Bill Patzert, and Guy McPherson). I’m not normally a big fan of talking heads, but the optimism conveyed by this film – in stark contrast to the usual alarmist arguments – definitely held my attention.
I was especially impressed with Bill McKibbon’s elegant explanation of why changing light bulbs and other market-based behavioral changes aren’t going to end global warming. The climate activist lays out an elegant argument why systemic structural changes is needed to wean humanity off of fossil fuels and why fossil fuel companies aren’t going to allow this without a major global movement to counter their power and greed.
The other panelists present a range of views on the specific structural/systemic changes that are necessary to prevent climate changes from wiping out our ability to produce food. Most seem to agree that fossil fuels could be totally phased out – and replaced by renewable energy – by 2050. They estimate this could be done for a total capital cost of $15 trillion (which according to the IMF is less than we currently spend annually to subsidize the fossil fuel industry*).
The film offers a number of viewpoints on how to bring this about. One economist favors a carbon tax; another would totally ban wasteful industries such as packaging (the third largest global industry after energy and food) and junk mail (which produces 51 millions tons CO2 annually in the US alone). Two activists express the view that the political corruption exerted by the fossil fuel industry couldn’t be overcome without dismantling capitalism altogether.
* According to the IMF, fossil fuel companies benefit from $5.3 trillion a year in subsidies.

‘Sanders would have beaten Trump’

If not for Democratic National Committee vote rigging in the primaries (in Bernie Sanders won more votes and elected delegates), Trump would not be president.
This video from the USA says about itself:
Bernie WOULD BE PRESIDENT If Dems [Democratic Party establishment] Didn’t Have HEAD UP ASS
10 November 2016
TYT Politics Reporter Jordan Chariton reported on why Bernie Sanders would’ve defeated Donald Trump in the presidential election.

Who Lost: A Biased Media, Pundits, Pollsters, Political Parties, Warmongers, the Corporatocracy, Pay-to-Play Grifters, Neoliberals
By Charles Hugh Smith
washingtonsblog.com
Sometimes who lost is more important than who won. Let’s review who lost the election:
1. Let’s start with the Corporatocracy, which expected to once again wield unlimited influence by funding political campaigns with millions of dollars in contributions and speaking fees.
2. A biased mainstream media. My mom-in-law was watching CBS all night, so that’s what we watched. All the pundits/anchors spoke in the hushed tones of a funeral. For two hours, the only images of campaign workers shown were the sad faces of Clinton supporters; not one image of jubilant Trump supporters was broadcast until Trump gave his acceptance speech.
When one of the talking heads noted that Hillary never generated the enthusiasm of the Sanders or Trump campaigns, his comment was followed by a stony silence. That he had given voice to a self-evident truth was not welcome.
3. Mainstream punditry: they got it wrong from the start and remained close-minded and arrogant in their postured superiority.
The punditry applied a double standard to Trump and Hillary. Trump’s speeches and ethically questionable history were judged by moral standards, and he was declared unfit.
Hillary’s actions, on the other hand, were judged by strictly legalistic standards: well, you can’t indict her, so she’s fit for office.
Dear punditry: you can’t use double standards to promote your biases and retain any shred of credibility.
4. Pollsters. Having rigged the polls via over-sampling and under-sampling, they were laughably wrong. Here is a typical headline from election night, from the New York Times: Trump Takes Florida, Closing In on a Stunning Upset.
Only the pollsters and the MSM were stunned.
5. Political parties. As my friend G.F.B. observed, both parties ran 20th century campaigns in the 21st century. Both parties lost for this reason; both are hopelessly out of touch with a rapidly changing America.
Democrats upset with losing should look at their party’s system of Super-Delegates that squelched Bernie Sander’s bid.
6. Warmongers. . .

ACLU Issues Ultimatum Over Trump Campaign Promises
On Wednesday morning November 9, 2016, the American Civil Liberties (ACLU) published a personal message to president-elect on their website. It urges him “reconsider and change course” on certain campaign promises, going on to list some of the most troubling promises Trump has made:
Promising to force 11 million undocumented immigrants from the country.
Promising to ban Muslims from entering the country and heavily surveilling the ones who reside here.
Promising to punish women who have abortions.
Promising to reauthorize waterboarding and other forms of torture.
Promising to revise the nation’s libel laws, restricting freedom of expression.
It goes on to warn Trump he will have to face the ACLU if he presses forward and tries to make good on promises they view as unconstitutional:
If you do not reverse course and instead endeavor to make these campaign promises a reality, you will have to contend with the full firepower of the ACLU at every step. Our staff of litigators and activists in every state, thousands of volunteers and millions of card-carrying members and supporters are ready to fight against any encroachment on our cherished freedoms and rights.
