Dollhouse

Dollhouse*
by: J. Danielle Tauscher
The children were not afraid
Though they should have been
But children weren't burdened by the same fears as adults.

Children embraced the shadows
Children made friends with the unseen
Children learned the names of ghosts

Voices Within

When the voices within speak, I try not to listen.
When the voices within scream, I cover my ears.
When the voices within preach, I start believing.
When the voices within sing, I do not cry.
When the voices within tell me I'm no good, I try not to listen.
When the voices within tell me to quit, I cover [...:]

And his name is Grim.

He stretches out on the bed, resting his head in his hands like he belongs there. I stare at him. I should be scared. I should run away. I should kick him out. I should ask why a fictional character that lives inside my head is resting on my bed. Instead, I stare.
His eyes are [...:]

Lions and Tigers and… Zombies?

I realize I've become a bit relaxed on my blog, but I have been writing! I entered a short story contest after deciding to try to write a zombie story. People Like Me is about an angry zombie named Boone who wants to destroy the ones who made him this way.
I had so much fun [...:]

Upside down in the land of kangaroos.

Greetings! I made it safely to Australia at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday morning. Besides the few hours I hung out at LAX waiting for my flight to depart, the trip was uneventful which is the way you want a flight to be. I was lucky not to have someone sitting in the seat next to me.
I'm [...:]

When Death Takes a Holiday

Me: Please get off my bag.
Grim: No.
Me: And why not?
Grim: I don't want you to leave.
Me: Oh?
Grim: No.
Me: That's sweet.
Grim: I have a lot more to share with you. My story isn't finished.
Me: Oh…and just a little bit selfish.
Grim: I have good ideas.
Me: Oh yeah right. The last idea you had was horrible.
Grim: You have [...:]

Dad FTW!

"I've got a good father and his strength is what makes me cry." ~Jann Arden, from the song "Good Mother"
I often talk about my mom being my number one supporter when it came to my writing. I shared with her all my writing and sometimes now feel lost because I don't have her here to [...:]

"I Don't Know Much, But I Know You."*

*The opening lines from the Holcombe Waller song, Risk of Change make me think of Grim.  They're absolutely the way I see him. You can hear the song here: Holcombe Waller: Winter Songs
From Risk of Change
"I don't know much, but I know you
You are the kind of magic always breaks my heart in two"
As you [...:]
