2011 Hope Chest Reviews Best Sci-Fi/Fantasy Romance Series
BLURB: It's 2011 and compressed natural gas has taken over from the coal producing steam machines of the Victorian Age. Alice Windsor, Princess of York, follows her mischief-making cousin, Edmund of Wales, back to 1851 where Prince Albert is hosting Britain's Great Exhibition.Alice soon finds herself over her head in trouble. Edmund is determined to help Prince Albert build a dirigible and the prime minister appears intent in preventing her from stopping Edmund. Alice knows it's too early for the massive flying machine to take to the air. Complicating matters is the passionate Grayson Kentfield, Earl of Swinton. Alice can't stop her pulse from pounding when she's near him.Can Alice give her heart to a man from the past while working to stop Edmund from changing history?BOOK TRAILER: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7IUYj2...
ENJOY THIS EXCERPT: A look of befuddlement crossed Alice's face. "Prime Minister?"
Grayson's companion, Sir John Russell, crossed his arms. He was just as tall as Grayson with salt and pepper hair around the temples and weary brown eyes, made so by the exertion of day-to-day politics.
"Yes, I'm the prime minister and this is Earl Swinton. Why are you here at the palace?"
Alice paused, pursing her lips, and tried to quickly think of an explanation. Then her eyes lit up. "I'm here to see Prince Albert."
Sir John raised an eyebrow. "Really? What business do you have with him?"
"I'm here to discuss an exhibit for the Great Exhibition he's planning."
"Um, no doubt it's a fashion exhibit," said Sir John.
Alice beamed from ear to ear. "Why, yes, it is."
From the playful look in Alice's eyes, Grayson couldn't help but wonder if Alice was serious about her reply.
"Well, I will help you. Swinton, take this young lady to one of the reception rooms while I meet with the prince's secretary."
"Of course, Sir John," said Grayson. He turned his full attention onto Alice. "Come with me, Miss Windsor."
She flashed Grayson a devastating smile and fell in step next to him as they passed through the entrance. Curious. Her position implied equality. Proper etiquette would have her walk behind him. He said nothing, keenly aware of the warm sensation she caused fluttering in his veins.

Goddess Fish Book Blast: Meredith Schorr & A State of Jane
Meredith has 3 stories in one. I'm featuring A State of Jane today.
A STATE OF JANE:
Jane Frank is ready to fall in love. It’s been a year since her first and only relationship ended and far too long since the last time she was kissed. With the LSAT coming up, she needs to find a boyfriend (or husband) before acing law school and becoming a partner at her father’s firm. There’s just one problem: all the guys in New York City are flakes. Interested one day and gone the next, they seemingly drop off the face of the earth with no warning and no explanation.
In her misguided belief that life doesn’t really start until you get married and have kids, Jane jumps from one extreme to the next trying to force a happily ever after until she breaks. Will she ever find her path, and can she do it without alienating her friends and family and risking her career in the process?
ENJOY THIS EXCERPT: [image error]
“How did you leave things?”
“He kissed me goodbye and put me in a cab.” I narrowed my eyes at her. “What’s with the interrogation, Lainie?”
Ignoring my question, she asked another one of her own. “What did he say?”
“I don’t know. It was kind of fuzzy. Too much wine. He had to get up early the next day.”
Lainie snorted. “What? To drive his sister to the airport or something?”
“His roommate actually. What’s so funny?”
Lainie stared at me. Waiting for an answer, I stared back. Finally, she said, “He really said he had to take his roommate to the airport?”
I nodded.
“And you believed him?”
“Yes. Why not? You think he was lying?” Please say no.
“I don’t know. What happened on your date?”
“What do you mean? We had dinner, drank some wine, smooched. Randall wanted me to go home with him but totally understood when I said I wanted to take things slow.”
Lainie pushed away her plate of sushi, reached across the table, and put her hand over mine. She shook her head. “Sweetie, I don’t think Randall will have the pleasure of seeing you in your sexy new underwear.”
I felt my muscles tighten and swallowed hard. “Why not?”
Looking at me in disbelief, Lainie raised her voice. “Girl, you’ve been blown off. Randall the Great is really Randall the Rat!” Lowering her voice, she said, “Don’t feel bad though. You didn’t do anything wrong aside from refusing to do him. I applaud you. He’s a slug.”

Hearts & Flowers - Valentines & Cards
Roses, free image, Credit: DreamstimeTomorrow is Valentines Day! It's a day filled with warm hearts, lots of chocolate, romantic dinners, foil balloons, cards, and yes, roses. Why do you give roses? Or why do you like to receive roses? For me, receiving roses is how I can tell the person giving them is truly thinking of me. Mainly, I like how roses smell -- divine.
I hope you have a great Valentines day. Here are some facts about roses:
Roses have been with us over 35 million years.
Napoleon's wife, the Empress Josephine, was a well known rose breeder.
Rose water is used in baklava.
Roses are a minor source of vitamin C.
The Rose Bowl is the oldest bowl. It was first played in 1902.
Cleopatra used roses to seduce Marc Antony.
The oldest blooming rose bush is in Germany. It's over 1,000 years old.
Question for you: How do you like to spend Valentines Day? This year, I'll be sharing cards with my boys and sharing Lindt Strawberry Crème truffles with them.
Enjoy this short romance: Journey of the Heart:
Blurb: Set in Sonoma, CA in 1946, can James help Rachel save her winery or will he drift out of her life the same way he drifted in?
13, 5 Star Reviews on Amazon
The story was compelling and not boring, which is often a stereotype of sweet romances. I would recommend this short sweetie of a story. Good job, author. - Angel E
Excerpt: "Your case threatened to run away, so I bribed it." Her sweet expression was an arrow through his heart.
"Really? What did you bribe it with?" He wiped the sweat off his brow with a handkerchief, caused from a combination of the summer heat and lifting the heavy cases.
"A job."
He hooked his thumb toward his chest. "Are you offering me a job, Miss Santori?"

99 cents young adult romance: Young Witchcraft #kindledeal #99cents
3RD PLACE: Young/New Adult Short Story, International Digital Awards 2015
BLURB:
Rachel's secret would have Cotton Mather rolling over in his grave. She's been raised from an early age to use magic for good, despite her temptation to cast a spell against Phil the bully who can't stop teasing her.
Joe thinks Rachel is cool, especially when she weaves her healing magic spells on him, but he's got his own problems. It's not easy keeping Rachel safe from Phil's constant threats.
When Phil poisons Rachel, can love and little young witchcraft bring Rachel and Joe together or have years of Phil's bullying ruined their relationship for good?
EXCERPT:
Suzie bumped into Rachel's shoulder. Rachel nearly lost her balance, extended her leg, and regained her bearing. Thank the broomsticks Suzie's contact didn't start a bleeding episode.
"I'd be careful if I were you. Don't cross me."
"What you did was mean and you know it." Rachel squared her shoulders, despite the knots in her stomach.
Suzie narrowed her eyes.
"Is there a problem?" Joe approached, his arms crossed.
"You two losers deserve each other." Suzie rolled her eyes and walked off.
Rachel swallowed hard, pushing the hurt from Suzie's comment aside for now. Rachel glanced at Joe. "Anna's ankle is swollen. Can you help her out to her car?"
"Sure."
Rachel smiled her appreciation at Joe. He'd grown tall, over six feet and his green eyes sparkled like gems when the light caught them a certain way. His blond hair had darkened a bit to sandy blond, but he kept his hair in a nice neat cut. He often had a five o'clock shadow that she found incredibly attractive on him. Joe was lean and with thin muscles, and not an ounce of fat on him. He could tear up a refrigerator. Fruit, pizza, and celery were his favorite foods. He was as picky as a black cat about what he ate since he had a peanut allergy. Joe played on the football team as a tight end or a running back. His practice must have gotten over early tonight.
A part of her wanted to reach out for his hand like she did when they were kids, back when life wasn't so complicated, but something held her back. Hurt? Doubt? Lack of courage? She sighed. Her self-esteem had taken a big hit today, but she wanted to be a good friend to Anna so she brushed aside her anxiety. Now that Joe was here, Rachel could do anything.

Book Review: Unsinkable by Debbie Reynolds #bookreview #debbiereynolds
Book Review: UnsinkableWritten by: Debbie Reynolds and Dorian HanaawayWilliam Morrow Publishing/Harper CollinsISBN: 978-0-06-221365-5
I read: the ebook
4.5 Stars
A warmhearted, engaging memoir
Debbie Reynolds tells her story in a very endearing manner with "Unsinkable." The book focuses on the latter part of her career and life. It starts with Debbie marrying her third husband, Richard Hamlett.
Debbie's kindhearted nature shines in this memoir. Her desire to create a museum to house her Hollywood memorabilia is genuine, but poor personal choices threaten to derail her. Debbie enjoys working and entertaining her fans. Throughout her challenges and disappointments, her children, Todd and Carrie, help to steady her.
The writing is easy to read and engaging. The chapters are well organized, and I enjoyed reading about the movies she made. What touched my heart was how Debbie dealt with hardship. Her third husband proves deplorable and bankrupts her. Debbie looks adversity right in the face and picks herself back up with class. Nothing can sink Debbie's resolve to start new chapters in her life when she has to.
I was motivated to learn more about her story after hearing of her tragedic death. I discovered Debbie Reynolds was a gifted entertainer, funny, charming, and kind-hearted. How she carried herself in the face of adversity is to be admired. I didn't want to put his book down. Even if you're not a fan of Debbie, her story is compelling and will touch your heart. She's truly "Unsinkable." I highly recommend this book.
Question for you: Have you seen a Debbie Reynolds movie? Which one?

3.99 steampunk romance: A Princess is Always Right #kindle
BLURB:
Sophia may be the youngest Windsor, but she knows her mind. A Princess of York, she's committed to do her duty – prevent Jonas Byron from finding Nikola Tesla and decimating the time line.
Jax Ruston is a rugged metalsmith with curly hair and dimples to die for. A resident of 1855, he's pledged to help Sophia find Jonas. Together, they journey across continental Europe in pursuit of Jonas.
Despite her duty, Sophia's attracted to handsome Jax. However, he's committed to living in 1855. Can Sophia keep her focus on her mission, or will desire interfere with her task? Only one thing is certain: a princess is always right.
EXCERPT:
She wrinkled her brow. What did she want? To go home and train horses and pray the press leave her alone? To support charities? Sure, the task was noble, but not...fulfilling. Would she be dispatched through Great Britain as a goodwill ambassador? Did she want to seek higher schooling like Richard had? Was there a balance to be found between her personal life and her royal obligations? Richard and Alice seemed to find that balance, but Sophia felt almost rudderless in this moment. Did she want to remain a princess or enjoy the anonymity that Edmund possessed? She ran a hand over her hair. She'd never felt so directionless before. Why was that? Because she wanted Jax in her life? They had discussed visiting each other using the time machine before Augustus' uncle passed away, but Sophia believed travel wouldn't be approved just for dating. "You're a Windsor. Duty first. Love second. That's what I did and the nation benefited because of it." Liz's voice filled with pride. "I had no idea it was such a thought provoking question." He kept his voice light in an effort to put her at ease. She placed her hands in her lap. "Surprisingly, it is.""How so?""I have some very serious decisions to make regarding my future." She drew in a breath. "And the direction I want to take it in."He chuckled. "Remember -- a princess is always right."She sighed, realizing she could only think of one major problem at a time and her future would have to wait. "I have to be right when it comes to Jonas. I have to catch him."REVIEWS:
5 Stars, Joy Cagil, Amazon Reviewer: "The writing, word choices, and the storytelling are executed with mastery and precision."
5 Stars, Liz Gavin, Amazon Reviewer: "A Princess is always right’ is a very well-written story with likeable characters and lots of adventure. I recommend it for fans of fantasy and/or good books."
5 Stars, A. Brantley, Amazon Reviewer: "I don't read a lot of time travel romance, but I really enjoyed this one! Stephanie Burkhart has an amazing ability when it comes to creating realistic characters and detailed scenes."

99 cent vintage romance: Journey of the Heart #kindle #99cents
JOURNEY OF THE HEART
Blurb: Set in Sonoma, CA in 1946, can James help Rachel save her winery or will he drift out of her life the same way he drifted in?
Opening Line: James hated wandering.
EXCERPT:
"Your case threatened to run away, so I bribed it." Her sweet expression was an arrow through his heart.
"Really? What did you bribe it with?" He wiped the sweat off his brow with a handkerchief, caused from a combination of the summer heat and lifting the heavy cases.
"A job."
He hooked his thumb toward his chest. "Are you offering me a job, Miss Santori?"
