Japan 4-0 Spain: Women’s World Cup 2023 – as it happened

Hinata Miyazawa scored twice as Japan produced a classic counter-attacking performance to thrash Spain and win Group C

5 min Spain have started brilliantly. After another hypnotic spell of possession, Carmona drives a cross from the left that just evades the stretching Bonmati, arriving late in the box.

4 min “All seven in the Japan squad who also started in the 2018 U20 final win against Spain - Takahashi, Minami, Nagano, Hayashi, Endo, Miyazawa, and Ueki - are starting today,” writes Jerome Chiu. “Meanwhile, all of the three who also started in the 2022 U20 final defeat against Spain – Ishikawa, Fujino, and Hamano – are on the bench. Hasegawa and Sugita, who both started in the 2014 U17 final win against Spain, are also on the bench.”

Play abandoned as Australia chase England target of 384 on day four of fifth Test – as it happened

Stuart Broad hit his last ball in Test cricket for six before rain, the pitch and Australia’s openers frustrated England at the Oval

In a curious move, Todd Murphy is coming on to bowl. The crowd sing Happy Birthday to Anderson. It’s all gone a bit pantomime out here.

81st over: England 395-9 (Broad 8, Anderson 8) Broad survives the first ball, and the first over. Trying to mow the first few balls from Starc but doesn’t connect with any, he turns down a few singles in the process. Last ball incoming… STUART BROAD SMASHES A SIX AND THE OVAL ERUPTS! Has there been a cricketer with more of a sense of his own theatre than Stuart Broad?

Stuart Broad reveals retirement with England in charge of fifth Test – as it happened

After England motored to 389-9, a lead of 377, Stuart Broad announced he will retire from all cricket at the end of the match

Here’s yer TMS overseas link:

2nd over: England 16-0 (Crawley 5, Duckett 9) A quieter over from Hazlewood who is more accurate than Starc. On a good length for the duration, just a nurdled quick single. That first over was quite something. The crowd here are louder and more burbling than they’ve been all Test.

England v Australia: Ashes fifth Test, day two – as it happened

Steve Smith took advantage of a run-out reprieve to make 71 and help Australia to a slender lead of 12 at the Oval

The umpires are making their way down the stairs. The crowd around me are clapping their hands and making noise. The players are over the rope and on the field. There’s a great energy about.

Not long to go now. While I’ve got you, any overseas readers with the BBC’s TMS link? Would be a huge help. Ta.
