Pleasures Untold teaser

Happy Wednesday, peeps!

Song of the day- Who's That Chick by David Guetta featuring Rihanna (LOVE this song!)

Because the release if Pleasures Untold is just around the corner (a short 6 days) I'm forgoing my usual WooHoo Wednesday post and offering up a teaser instead. Nothing to spoilery, just something to wet your whistle while you wait :D

Yay!

So, without further ado, I give you teaser numero uno :)

The faint memory of my great-grandmother's voice popped into my head. Close your mouth, Peanut, before you catch a fly. I slammed my jaw closed. Drooling over the hot bartender wouldn't do me a damn bit of good. Guys like him didn't go for girls like me.The heavens broke out into song when he opened his mouth, and I was sure I'd never heard a more perfect voice. "What can I get you to drink, beautiful?" His tone was deep and rich, with a hint of an accent; Latin maybe, though I wasn't sure and didn't really care. I was sure, however, that I wanted him to speak again, regardless of what he said. He could recite the alphabet in Cantonese for all I cared, just so long as he spoke.

Woot!

If you get a chance, head on over to My Five Monkeys. Julie was kind enough to do an interview with me and I'm so grateful! Lots of fun!

Take care, everyone!

Pleasures Untold blog tour kickoff!

Happy Tuesday, peeps!

Song of the day- Wild Horses by The Sundays

7 more days! Woot! One more week until Pleasures Untold releases!

I'm a little excited. Can you tell?

Actually, I'm excited, nervous, and giddy all rolled into one shaky, quivering ball. And I wouldn't have it any other way :)

Today is particularly special as it's the kickoff for the Pleasures Untold blog tour. Over the course of February and some of March I'll be visiting different blogs to spread the goodness that is Martha and Xan. There will be giveaways, interviews and a whole lot of good times. Hope you can join me!

The tour kicks off today at Novels On The Run with an interview, a couple of reviews and a giveaway. These ladies are absolutely fabulous, and if you're not following them, I highly suggest you remedy that. Sweet, funny and very well read, their blog holds a mountain of information and is oh-so-pretty! I enjoy chatting with them and know you will too!

Take care, everyone!

Happy Monday, peeps!

Song of the day- More by Usher

As promised, today the authors participating in the hop will be showing you their workspace. Should be very interesting!

I'm a simple girl and am all about comfort. When I sit down to work, I plant myself in my large comfy recliner with my laptop. My Chi usually sits at my feet, or if she's feeling particularly snuggly, will situate herself on my thighs, right behind my laptop.

Check out those crazy alien eyes! ROFL!!!

Spirit Spectacular cheer competition!

Happy Sunday, peeps!

As I'm laid up on my couch with what I refer to as a "cheer hangover" I thought I'd share some pics and video from yesterday's very exciting, but very loooong competition.

Overall, the gym did very well, bringing home four first place trophies out of seven teams. We're so proud!
And, it just so happens that each of my girls are on one of the winning teams. As I'm sure you can imagine, they were all smiles yesterday!

Here are a few pics :)

Here are a few of the performances :)First up is Youth Gold. They took home first!

Next up is Sr Blue (This is Kendall's crossover team) They took home first place along with an award for best choreography! My baby is in the middle :)

Hope you're all having a wonderful weekend!  Stay tuned for Meet An Author Monday tomorrow. We'll be sharing pics of our work space. Guess I better clean mine up, lol!!

Lookin' For Love Web Hunt!

Wow! Two posts in one day! What is this world coming to? Lol!

All joking aside, I'm so excited to be participating in Omnific Publishing's Lookin' For Love Web Hunt February 1-14th.

To celebrate a year of fabulous releases Omnific is sponsoring a contest that recognizes all of its talented authors.

To participate you will need to:

Visit the author's websites between Feb 1-14th
Find the "hidden" candy heart (one on each author's website)
Match the candy sayings to the correct author site using the form on Omnific's website

Pretty darn easy!

Click the banner above to find out more details on Omnific's website.
Good luck, everyone!!!!

Meet an author Monday and a chat about heroes

Happy Monday, peeps!

Song of the day-Higher by Taio Cruz and Travie McCoy

The weekend is over. It's back to the daily grind for most of us, so I thought, why not give everyone a little something yummy to think about? We're gonna talk about heroes today. Woot! What is it about a hero that draws us in, makes us think about them days after we've finished a book?

I'm a fantasy girl. I don't know about the rest of you, but the amount of "reality" I get stuffed down my throat in my daily life would choke a horse. Maybe two, lol!  When I sit down to read I want to escape, become absorbed in another world, another time, another reality. I want to be swept away by the hero and heroines love story, become lost in a fantasy.

Somehow that fantasy just doesn't seem the same when the hero turns out to be an insurance agent out of Tulsa with a receding hairline and a paunch.

Don't get me wrong. I'm sure there are plenty of readers who prefer a realistic hero, and that's totally fine.   Diversity is what makes the world go round. However, speaking for myself, I prefer a leading man who's larger than life, alpha all the way, and one that's not always the nice guy.

I don't know about you, but for me, there's nothing quite a sexy as the tortured hero. He's suffered, experienced loss so great it would break lesser men. He's been beaten, mind-fucked and walks a fine line between good and evil. Yep...I'm all about the hero that needs to be redeemed. You know the type I'm talking about:  The ruthless warrior who cares about no one but himself, or the bloodthirsty mercenary driven by money and greed. Sigh...there's nothing quite as sweet as when those bad boys cross paths with their heroine and realize there's something more important to live for...love.

I'm such a sap!

Yes, yes, I'd be a liar if I said I wasn't drawn to the typical gorgeous, muscled up hero. You know...the kind with perfect hair, the perfect tan, the perfect everything.

However, I've been known to fall in love with a hero with busted teeth, scars riddling their faces and Elvis hair of all things. Probably my favorite hero of all time is Butch O'Neal from J.R. Ward's BDB series. He's got a busted tooth, a Scotch pot and a serious lack of self worth. Then of course there's Zsadist (Lord, I can't help myself!)  with his scarred face and perpetual sneer. Recently, I fell in love with  Terrible, the hero from Stacia Kane's fabulous Downside Ghost series. Bad boy sports an Elvis do and a set of mutton chops. He's not sexy in your typical hero kind of way, not by any stretch of the imagination, but I fell in love with him anyway.

Why?

For me, the answer is simple. I fell in love with their heart, their desire to be better than they are. I see them struggle, battle with their inner demons, self consciousness and terrible self worth and my heart goes out to them. The thing that really tips the scale in these heroes favor for me is the way they treat their women. Doesn't matter if they've just come back from battling demons, bad guys or robbing a bank to pad their pockets, each of these guys treats his woman with a staggering amount of tenderness and care. They can take a beating from the biggest and the baddest around, but one harsh word from their woman knocks them into oblivion. And for as much as they believe themselves to be undeserving of love, they often have the biggest heart and the most potential for great love. They just need the right woman to redeem them.

Okay, enough of my yammering. What about you? What type of hero do you like and why? Weigh in with a comment.

On to the hop!

We got a makeover!

Happy Thursday, peeps!

Song of the day- I Feel Pretty by Julie Andrews (Hahahaha!)

What can I say? I'm a fickle girl, and my blog was long overdue for some maintenance work. I like this more simple design and hope you do too.

Almost all the widgets are the same and still here. Everything is now located on the right hand side of the screen for a less "cluttered" look.

I'm sure I'll still tweak a few things here and there, but for the most part, this is Cali Cheer Mom's new look for a while.

Have a great day, peeps! Mwah!
