The hashtag to use on all social media (such as twitter and instagram)
for the weekend is #Sasscon . This can be super useful on things like
twitter if you are trying to find the group or other people you might
not have their phone number or email. Do during the weekend check that
hashtag for updates and where the roving group is. This is the type of
event where we are going to move around the sights and museums a lot and
if you come later you will be able to find us.
We need you all
to work out what is the best hotel for you. You do not have to all stay
at the same place but it can make life easier and more fun. The New
Haven area has a ton of hotels at all different price ranges and do not
forget the towns around the city also have hotels and are a super fast
drive into the city thanks to the major highways. Use this event page to
sort out the hotel you will want to stay at and hopefully roomshare and
all that fun.
If you need someone to room with jump on the group https://www.facebook.com/groups/OuroborosCycleGroup/ and start talking to people about room shares and carpools.

Friday June 1, 2018
This is how you get around if you do not have a car or someone to carpool with https://www.cttransit.com/schedules
*2pm to 2:30pm: Meet up at the New Haven Green by the fountain https://www.nps.gov/places/new-haven-green.htm
*2:30pm to 4:00pm: Free tour of the https://artgallery.yale.edu/hours-and-directions Yale University Art Gallery

*6pm to 9:30pm: Dinner with G. D. Falksen At Sushi Palace 1473 Dixwell Ave, Hamden, CT http://www.sushipalace.us/menu/menu.htm
This place is amazing. It has all you can eat or you can order from the
menu meals and a la carte items. So you can eat tons of fresh great
sushi or have teriyaki steak. This is their regular menu. I highly
suggest carpooling to this as it’s not in New Haven but about a 10
minute drive into Hamden. But it is worth it and so good.
*10pm
to ?: Clothing swap and Shenanigans at the hotel. Have clothing you do
not want anymore? Bring it along for the swap. Rules for the clothing
swap. Bring clothing and put it down in the pile of other clothing.
However many pieces of clothing you brought for the swap is the number
you can pick up. People who brought stuff go first. Then once they have
their new stuff, everyone can grab from the pile. Give someone that
thing in the closet you’re not wearing and get something sweet.Saturday June 2, 2018
*12pm: Lunch at Louis’ Lunch http://louislunch.com/ This is the place that invented the hamburger. They
have not changes the way it has been made in over 100 years. The
hamburgers are amazing. It’s worth going to and getting one to
experience the history, and also get a great lunch. They always have a
line so I suggest showing up a littler early but really do try to get a
burger from here. It’s super good and you are getting to eat history.
1pm to 3:30pm: At 1pm meet at the Egyptian gates of THE GROVE STREET CEMETERY http://www.grovestreetcemetery.org/ This is one of the oldest cemeteries in the country https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grove_Street_Cemetery It is full of all sorts of famous dead people. It’s also right across from the skull and bones so we can see that after.
3:30pm to 4:30: Free Tour of the The Beinecke Rare Book & Manuscript Library http://beinecke.library.yale.edu/
*4:30pm to 6pm: Free Walking tour of the historic Yale campus https://www.yale.edu/ Bring a camera. It is super pretty and huge. Everything is an easy walk one after the other. We might not get to
everything, but this is the order. Do check the #Sasscon hash tag to
find us.
*Tattoo party. Talk about people wanting to get a
tattoo. Use this event page to set that up. Here is a list of the places
in New Haven. Talk with Nikki https://www.facebook.com/NikkiALyka?fref=ufi as she is setting this up. Most people are getting the logo of the book
series as a tattoo but you can get whatever you like if you would like
to get something. Nikki is the one setting the whole thing up.
Use the Twitter hashtag to find out where we are #Sasscon if you come later or want to pop in and out.
*8pm to ?: Dinner. Where we should all eat is still up in the air. People, make suggestions. https://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurants-g33851-New_Haven_Connecticut.html New Haven has a ton of great places to eat.

. Pack a picnic basket and lunch with everyone on the historic New
Haven Green. Bring along packaged tea to take part in the swap. Give
something to get something and acquire more loved tea if you wish.
2:pm to 4:30pm: Free tour of the Yale Center for British Art https://britishart.yale.edu/
5:pm to 7pm: Dinner at the Ivy Wok, 316 Elm St New Haven, CT 06511 https://www.yelp.com/biz/ivy-wok-new-haven This is a staple of New Haven eating. Good noodles at good prices.

This Medieval Italian Man Replaced His Amputated Hand With a Weapon
![]()
Archaeologists have found a fascinating puzzle in the shape of a man’s remains dating back to medieval Italy. It looks like this guy went through life with a knife attached to his arm, in place of his amputated hand.
The skeleton in question was found in a Longobard necropolis in the north of Italy, dating back to around the 6th to 8th centuries CE. Hundreds of skeletons were buried there, as well as a headless horse and several greyhounds, but this particular skeleton stood out.
He was an older male, aged between 40 and 50, and his right arm had been amputated around the mid-forearm.
The researchers, led by archaeologist Ileana Micarelli of Sapienza University in Rome, determined that the hand had been removed by blunt force trauma, but exactly how or why is impossible to tell. Read more.
