This is a poignant and heartbreaking rendering of the ancient Good Friday Hymn 'Stabat Mater Dolorosa', which describes the sword of grief piercing the heart of the Virgin Mary as she watches the death of her Son at the hands of a mob and of a cowardly state, and the apparent utter defeat of truth and goodness in the world.
