Sorry, Melanie, this is Goodbye. I finally Part Company with Melanie Phillips.
Long ago, I saw Melanie Phillips as an ally against many of the follies of the modern world. In the following years, we have grown apart especially over the Iraq war on which she seemed to me to have been gravely mistaken. I have had one or two other quarrels with her. But now it is the end.
Alas, though I may continue to agree with her on one or two specific subjects, I must declare a formal, irrevocable rift. In the greatest national controversy of our lives, she has taken the side of panic...
A note for Mr Baumgartner

Fraser Nelson described them thus: 'But Imperial also applied its UK assumptions to Sweden, warning that its rejection of lockdown was likely to leave the virus...

PETER HITCHENS: Were destroying the nations wealth and the health of millions
This is Peter Hitchens's Mail on Sunday column
Why do I bother? For six weeks now I have been saying that the Governments policy on Covid-19 is a mistake. Most people do not agree with me, and many are angry with me for saying so. Others, bafflingly, dont care about the greatest crisis I have seen in my lifetime, and regard the debate as a spectator sport.
Let me say it again: the coronavirus is not as dangerous as claimed. Other comparable epidemics have taken place with far less...

Dont be fooled by the sunshine there are only dark days ahead
This is Peter Hitchens Mail on Sunday column

I long to wake up to a filthy morning of dirty grey skies and miserable rain, like the one Tennyson described when he wrote ghastly, thro the drizzling rain, on the bald street, breaks the blank day. This is because I think the British people are lost in an unreal, sunshiny dreamtime of delusion, seeing the current crisis as a sort of holiday after which they...
