Y’all know I love cowboys. Every shape, size, nice chest and six-pack to go with it, so I guess I’ll post a little about my coming release. I don’t have a buy link yet, but I do have a HAWT cover!

ss

It will be available in the next couple of weeks. So be on the look out for the buy link coming soon!

Mesa Arraguso writes about hot cowboys for a living. Being a romance writer has it perks and its drawbacks. She spends a lot of time alone in front of her computer, but she gets to fantasize about incredibly hot men wearing cowboy boots and Stetsons. While visiting San Antonio, Texas for a writer’s conference, she finds herself stranded on the back roads of Bandera only to be rescued by one of the most gorgeous men she’s ever encountered, be it fantasy or for real.

Joel Young is a cowboy. From the top of his Stetson to the tip of his dirty cowboy boots, he’s cowboy through and through. Along with rescuing women when they do silly things like running out of gas miles from town on a dirt road, he spends his days herding cattle, fixing fences and breaking horses.

Can one handsome cowboy and a city-girl from LA find common ground is the Hill Country long enough to see beyond a quick fling?

As the water began rising rapidly she realized she needed to get the hell out of her car before it was washed away. In the distance she could make out several larger rocks. “If I can get on top of them, I should be safe from the rush. Of course, that means I’ll be out in the rain getting soaked.” Fear rose, threatening to choke her with the lump in her throat. She rubbed her arms trying to calm the chills while deciding what to do. She really didn’t have much choice. Water ran in rivulets down the windshield. Lightning continued to flash and thunder rolled over the area. She sucked in a large breath as she bit her lip.

A moment later a tap, tap, tap on her window startled her out of her thoughts. She jumped and screamed as a face appeared near her door. Blue eyes with long lashes stared back beneath a black cowboy hat. Black hair ruffled slightly with the wind.

“Ma’am? Are you all right?”

“I’m fine.”

“You need to get this car out of the water. You’ll be washed away. It’s rising fast.”

“I can’t. I’m out of gas.”

“Open the door.”

“Hell, no. Do I look crazy to you?” she asked, her voice shrill with terror.

“Trust me. If I were a serial killer, I wouldn’t be out in this shit trying to find women to abduct. I’m going to help you, but you need to get out of the car first before we’re both swept away.”

Mesa bit her lip. Should she trust him?

“Ma’am?”

“All right.” She eased open the door to find the water almost reached the bottom of the car. The cowboy pulled the door the rest of the way as she grabbed her purse.

“We have to hurry,” he said, offering her a hand to help her from the car. “Let me help you. This water is rushing pretty fast.”

A red horse stood patiently several feet away with its head down, riding out the storm the only way horses knew how. A cowboy on a real horse out here in the middle of nowhere? Surely, it’s safe. I mean serial killers don’t ride horses, right?

Excerpt

He winced as she dabbed again. It had to hurt, she knew but all she could think about was kissing those full lips. She wanted to see his eyes dark with desire. Feel his hands on her bare flesh. Have those lips on other places of her body like her breasts, her nipples, or her clit.

“You okay?” he whispered, glancing up through those impossibly long eyelashes.

“Yeah.” Her heart pounded behind her ribcage.

“Your pulse is fluttering.”

“I know.”

“Why?” His voice continued in a soft, coaxing tone reminding her of how he spoke to the horse while she gave birth to her colt.

“It’s nothing, Joel.”

“Do you want me to kiss you?”

She closed her eyes and licked her lips. God, do I ever want you to kiss me. More than my next breath. More than a winning lottery ticket. More than…

The next thing she knew, he had twisted her around so she lay flat on the bed with him hovering over her. He bent down and brushed his lips against hers so softly she wasn’t sure if he’d actually kissed her.

“You shouldn’t be doing this.”

“I know.”

He kissed her again, this time with his tongue softly brushing her lips as if to ask for permission to deepen it. Her lips parted of their own accord without her even thinking beyond how his lips felt against hers. The dip of his tongue tore a moan from her mouth. She tangled her hands in the front of his western shirt, wanting nothing more than to remove the barrier between his skin and hers.

The fire burning in her gut prompted her to return kiss for kiss, touch for touch.

I hope you enjoyed the blurb and excerpt. This book is scheduled to be out the end of this month. Keep your eyes open to www.secretcravingspublishing.com for release information.

Just thinking out loud about my new Filofax-o-Mania…

This year, I’ve found myself a little overwhelmed with work and the old ways of scheduling things just isn’t working for me anymore (I think, because I’m bored with them!). I still need my big picture spread sheet that shows me what’s coming up for the next year. This is just a glimpse of part of it.

Capture1

But the daily part isn’t cutting it. I’ve always kept something that looks like this for scheduling work. Note the five projects on the right. Yeah, sometimes I’m touching that many stories in any given week. Crazy, right?

Capture2

But the spreadsheet isn’t inspiring me anymore, so I’m going to make a change in the way I keep my crazy-busy life ordered.

I’ve entered Filofax-o-mania! I used to keep a DayPlanner. Had one for years when I worked in IT, but the thought of something that stale and boring to accompany my creative writing life didn’t tempt me back. Not until I was roaming through Pinterest and saw all the wildly imaginative ways folks are using their Filofaxes to organize their lives. If you head to this page in my Pinterest, you can see what I’m talking about.

Last week, while I was house-sitting and not getting any work done because my ass missed my office chair, I began a shopping spree. I bought a Filofax for myself, then one for my daughter so she can’t make fun of my new addiction, and here’s what I bought:

My Purple Malden

My Purple Malden

My dd's Purple Saffiano

My dd’s Purple Saffiano

But I didn’t stop there. I bought stickers, pretty dividers, post-it flags, post-it notes, colored pens, all sorts of inserts, etc. I even bought a caddy to hold all the crap I’ll be using to decorate my Filo-friend. See the obsession? I’m even naming my craziness!

Which gets to the crux of this blog…. What should I name my Filo-friend? Do you have any ideas? And hey! If any of you have planner fetishes and want to share photos here, send them!

[I'm also thinking about fun charms/dangles I can make to hang from the bottom ring! Hmmm... I can see new pics of Filo-charms entering my Pinterest board soon!]

Guest Blogger: Candi Wall

As if the question ‘Wanna pitch to an agent or editor’ isn’t enough.

Hello! A huge thanks to all my wonderful hosts as I run all over cyberspace talking about Agent/Editor Shop at the Musetracks blog.

In this crazy world of easy access to information, it’s also easy to miss huge opportunities, or forget! Because I get so many comments that writers either forgot, or didn’t know Musetracks did pitch sessions, I asked a bunch of fellow writers, bloggers and readers to help me spread the word.

For those of you who don’t me, I’m Candi Wall, one of the authors who co-contribute to the Musetracks blog. Jennifer Bray-Weber, Marie-Claude Bourque, and Stacey Purcell are my super smart co-contributors and goodness knows where I’d be without them!

I’ve been hosting acquiring Agents at Musetracks for almost two years, and only recently, we decided to add editors as our guest. We’ve been lucky to have agents like Melissa Jeglinski, Jessica Alvarez, Mollie Glick, Becky Vinter, Kevan Lyon, Scott Eagan, Lois Winston, Jill Marsal, Michelle Grajkowski, Kimberley Cameron, Emmanuella Alspaugh (now Morgan), Laura Bradford, Jenny Bent, Sara Crowe, Weronika Janczuk and Stan Soper.

Our guest editors thus far have been Rhonda Penders w/ The Wild Rose Press, Jennifer Miller w/ Samhain Publishing, Debby Gilbert w/ Soul Mate Publishing, Beth Walker w/ Secret Cravings Publishing, and the editors at Books To Go Now have booked three dates in the future!

What we offer is a ‘Pitch Day’. I only take 30 pitches, and only the first thirty VIABLE pitches that come in on pitch day will be seen by the agent or editor. And I will warn you, I’m a stickler for following guidelines. If you don’t include exactly what is in the rules… I delete without prejudice. And I delete quite a few. (And yes, I receive plenty of hate mail.)

You can find us here:

Musetracks and there is a sidebar with Agent/Editor Shop dates and attending professionals

You can find the rules for pitching here:

Musetracks Agent/Editor Shop rules Please read them carefully!

I’ve also created a Yahoo group so writers can sign up to receive Agent/Editor Shop updates. I only send messages with agent/editor attendance updates, reminders of pitch dates, and any information about the contests we run on pitch day. Usually a giveaway or a chance to comment for the Top Pitch Slot. You can request to join here:

Editor/Agent Shop Newsletter Group

Easy as pie! We welcome every stage of writer and at Musetracks, we strive to help other writers, the way we were all helped when we first started out, and the way we are supported today.

Hope to see you all at a pitch day, and if not, feel free to pass the word along to others.

Happy reading and writing!

~Candi

* * * * *

Ooops! I’m late getting this up. Had dogs to walk, cats to feed, a litter box to clean, and an 8-year-old to feed. It’s my last day of house-sitting and I can’t wait to get back to my writer’s cave! I can’t write as well or fast anywhere else. I want to sit in my padded leather executive chair—the one shaped to the contours of my butt. TMI? Probably, but I’ve been thinking about that chair all week!

So today, I’m posting an excerpt from my Lone Star Lovers series. There are 6 books in the series. If you haven’t read them, the books are all set around one town, but they are “2-fers”—every two books is closely connected. I did that purposely in case someone wanted to try a book, but didn’t want to read the entire series to understand how everyone interrelates. I’m thinking I need a closure for the series. Whether it’s one story or two, I’m not sure. Those of you who have read some of the stories, do you want to see more? Although, I do have an idea for a new series centered around a family of mixed-breed Comanches with a love for “sharing”…. You tell me which you want more!

I took a break from the Lone Star cowboys to write about the brothers on the Triple Horn Ranch. The last book in that three-part series will release sometime in July. And I’ll be writing some paranormal stories, too… So cowboys, demons, and witches—that’s what you can expect to see from my Samhain novellas in the coming months.

If you post a comment today, you’ll be entered to win

a free download of this book!

Breaking Leather

“…Put into the mix three sexy brothers who happen to be cowboys and who are hot for one lucky female? You have a sexual, erotic masterpiece!” ~5 Stars and Top Pick!, The Romance Reviews

“…Delilah Devlin just makes this type of story such an adventure as well as a hot ride… You will never go wrong with a Delilah Devlin story and you will never be disappointed.” ~5 Cherries, Whipped Cream Reviews

“Cleverly written, Breaking Leather breaks the mold when it comes to ménage stories… Highly recommend.” ~Sizzling, 4 1/2 Stars, Sensual Reads

“…The characters themselves are fantastic. All three men are alike and yet very unique. Chrissi is a strong woman and her character is flawless. Add in some wonderful support characters and you’ve got one robust set of characters and one outstanding story that shouldn’t be missed.” ~5 Hearts, The Romance Studio

One for remembrance…one for healing…and one to seal her heart forever.

Chrissi Page has tried to find one man who heats her bed the way the Kinzie brothers did one shameful night years ago. She’s failed miserably, leaving her with no choice but to bank that inner fire—and keep a lid on her inner bad girl.

She’d been weak, unable to choose between three men who appealed to her in different ways. And when they’d confronted her as a tease, anger had boiled over into a passion so wild, she’s still trying to live it down.

Since that night, Ezra, Cade and Joshua have individually sown their wild oats with pretty much the entire available female population of Two Mule, Texas. Yet nothing erases the attraction they still feel for Chrissi. And when she ends up stranded on the road near their ranch, it’s their last chance to turn their mutual obsession into an unusual proposition.

One weekend, three on one. If she can’t stand the heat, they’ll let her go on with her life. And try to find a way to live with the hole she’ll leave behind in theirs.

Warning: A girl who thinks she can’t have it all, and three brothers who set out to prove otherwise. One on one, two on one, and three on one; bondage in the wild; a bit of riding crop action. And a pickup truck load of emotion.

Chrissi Page raised her cell phone in the air, staring at the screen. No bars. Not even a hint of one skinny, green nub. “Oh, come on,” she moaned as her radiator hissed behind her. “Damn, damn, damn.”

She’d been tempted to ignore the check engine light when it first appeared, wanting to take the chance she could limp back into Two Mule. However, the steam seeping from under the hood had pretty much killed that hope.

Today was not the day for her car to break down. Not so far from town. Not so close to their ranch. Any minute now one of the Kinzie brothers might happen by.

They’d stop because they’d never leave a woman stranded.

They might not let her go because of their shared past.

And she didn’t know if she had the strength anymore to fight fate or her own inexplicable needs.

Macy Pettigrew, her best friend and boss, had sent her to the Dunstan house to make sure the owners had followed her suggestions to increase the house’s curb appeal. Never mind that there wasn’t a curb. Not really even a road—more of a caliche-covered goat trail that meandered up a steep hillside, rutted from runoff during recent summer storms.

Something must have happened to her car on the run up that hill. She’d heard the rocks pinging against her undercarriage but had been too busy thinking about Ms. Dunstan’s handsome neighbors. She’d been afraid she’d pass them or that they might stop in to see old Lettie Dunstan, the widow selling off her roughhewn, century-old home.

Chrissi had forced a smile on her face, looked at the potted plants the old woman had placed in pretty window boxes and admired the paint she’d used to spruce up the weathered door and window frames. The junk the old woman’s husband had accumulated, and that she hadn’t had the heart to part with after his passing, was gone from the front lawn. And lo and behold, grass was beginning to grow to fill in the brown patches where engines and tires had lain.

Macy would be pleased. They had a potential buyer. One who’d relayed an offer via email, which had checked out with the mortgage lender. Details Macy had been eager to handle herself, leaving the showings to Chrissi.

Chrissi heard a powerful engine rev. She slowly lowered her arm and glanced nervously over her shoulder. A metallic sage pickup truck pulled off the road behind her, and her stomach dropped to her toes. She’d known the moment her check engine light had shone that this was going to happen.

And good Lord, it had to be Ezra Kinzie. His dark gaze narrowed on her through the windshield, the intensity of it feeling like the hissing heat of a brand against her skin.

He opened his door and stepped down, slamming it with a decisive shove. Everything Ezra did was deliberate. He never wavered once a decision was made.

Long ago, he’d decided he wasn’t going to fight his brothers for her. If she wasn’t going to decide among them, then she’d have to take them all.

And, Lord help her, she had.

She’d never gotten over that night, had never been able to push it to the farthest corner of her mind when she lay down to sleep. Just the memory of it made her hot, cold, wet

And horribly ashamed. Anyone could have seen them beneath the bleachers at the homecoming game. Gossip hadn’t followed, but that didn’t make her any less self-conscious when she strode down the sidewalk on Main Street.

Someone might know. Someone might tell. The thought of that sordid night being revealed left her feeling nauseated. Her life had been circumspect ever since, her love life nonexistent.

They’d left her scarred. Unable to move on.

Not because they’d harmed her physically, but because she hadn’t been able to shake off the terrible attraction that tempted her every single day since that fateful night.

Boots crunched on the gravel at the side of the road. The brim of Ezra’s straw cowboy hat left his ice-blue eyes in shadow.

She straightened away from her car and squared her shoulders.

“Havin’ trouble, Chrissi?”

“It just showed up,” she said under her breath, determined not to let him see how flustered she felt.

One side of his mouth quirked up. He glanced up at the sky, squinting against the bright Texas sun before leveling that devastating stare on her again.

Her belly clenched, and she fought hard not to give him any clues about how he still affected her. Just the rumble of his deep voice always made her think of crisp, cool sheets and hot, slick skin.

Her glance flicked over his body-hugging dark tee, noted his well-developed chest, the bulge of his biceps, his taut abdomen. She started to sweat. “Will you call a tow truck for me when you get home?”

A frown dug a deep crease between his dark brows. “Get in my truck, Chrissi. I’m not leavin’ you on the side of the road.”

“I’m not goin’ anywhere with you, Ezra Kinzie,” she said tightly.

A muscle rippled alongside his jaw. “I’m just offerin’ you a place to wait out of the sun. And a cool drink. Nothin’ more.”

His features were stern, his jaw rigid, but the heat blazing from his eyes mesmerized her, made her want to sway toward him. The intensity of that unblinking stare made her wish he’d take the decision right out of her hands. She’d never willingly take that first step. Her days of following his commands were over.

Chrissi swallowed hard and broke from his glance, looking down the road and praying someone else would appear over the crest of the hill. She needed rescuing from the deep emotions roiling inside her—from the temptation his large, hard frame embodied. However, only the shimmer of heat waves rose off the black tar.

A trickle of moisture dripped between her breasts, gliding along one curve—and just like that, her imagination replaced the slide of that hot little bead with the tip of his tongue. She turned away from him and dragged in a couple of deep breaths, trying to stiffen her resolve, but the only things hardening were the tips of her breasts. She crossed her arms over her chest and lifted her chin, then turned to aim a glare at the one man who had the power to make her knees quiver.

So many memories swamped her as she stared into his handsome, rugged face. So many regrets sat like soured milk in her gut. He’d been “the one” until she’d succumbed to a dark sensual greed.

Too bad she couldn’t turn back the clock about seven years. She’d make damn sure she’d never let him take her hand and pull her into the shadows.

Guest Blogger: Denise Golinowski (Contest)

Thank you Delilah for letting me guest blog today, because today’s a very special day for me. It’s Release Day for COLLECTOR’S ITEM, my new paranormal romance from The Wild Rose Press.

CollectorsItem_7523_300

To find her missing aunt, a headstrong shapeshifter joins forces with a cynical Alpha to investigate an illegal hunt club, but when their plan backfires can she escape a trap of her own making?

To celebrate this special day, I’m sharing a little about the development of my shapeshifter story. Also, I’m inviting everyone to enter my COLLECTOR’S ITEM Release Week Contest, running now through May 23rd. See details below!

Paranormal stories are often about hiding the reality of being dual-natured from the rest of the world. I chose to have shapeshifters living openly in the population, but they haven’t been “out of the closet” for long. In my world, the emergence of shapeshifters was motivated by a threat to their survival–the Collectors. The Collectors is a secret society of human hunters. Their goal: to capture, hunt, and kill shapeshifters–the Ultimate Big Game. The Collectors have been so successful, shapeshifters are forced to seek legal rights and protections or become an “endangered species.”

When creating COLLECTOR’S ITEM, I decided that I wanted to use a feline shapeshifter instead of a werewolf. Nothing against werewolves, but I’ve always been a cat person. Also, by not choosing to do werewolves, my shapeshifters would not be tied to the moon’s cycles, giving them more autonomy. However, the biggest difference in my shapeshifters is that I gave the animal side of my shapeshifters their own names and distinct personalities.

The heroine, KT (Katarina Teresa) Marant, shares her consciousness with Andi (Andromeda). The hero, Peyton Allers shares his consciousness with Max (Maximilian). The animal personalities fulfill the role of “side-kick,” and provide a bit of comic relief as well.

The story of COLLECTOR’S ITEM begins when a member of KT Marant’s family disappears and KT Marant immediately suspects the Collectors. As the trained, but inexperienced Female Alpha of the Marant Clan, KT has the skills but lacks the knowledge to follow through on her suspicion. Enter Peyton Allers, an undercover Alliance Protector and Alpha in his own right.

EXCERPT:

Peyton Allers struggled to contain his temper as he faced the “princess” of the Marant clan, AKA Katarina Teresa Marant. Because a high-blood princess had slipped her leash and made herself a target for the Collectors, his cover and his operation were blown. No simple “chip & tip” would do for this Collector’s Item, damn it!

Added to the inevitable hysterics and demands for protection, he’d be elbow deep in politics. God, he hated politics. Bowing and scraping while maneuvering to find the best location to stick in the knife.

Not with this one, his jag, Max asserted.

The princess stood behind the couch, hands on hips, a tiny crease between her eyebrows while she looked from Massey on the rug to him and back. No hysterics in sight, Peyton noted with relief. Points for restraint.

Alpha, said Max.

Princess, Peyton countered. Even they had their moments of intelligence, but he knew better than to expect more.

To see how this all works out, I invite you to read COLLECTOR’S ITEM, now available from The Wild Rose Press.

Thank you for having me here, Delilah.

When I hear a someone say they don’t like romance novels I stare at them as if they’ve told me they’ve committed a horrendous crime in which case they kind of have, because a life without romance novels is criminal. I love characters that sparkle and stories that leave you thinking about them for weeks to come. I’m a huge fan of the genre (if you hadn’t guessed already  ). Romance novels have a way of pulling you in, holding you tight and never letting go.

I’ve always loved writing stories but I never had the discipline or patience to commit myself to a story for longer than ten minutes. It wasn’t until I became a romance novel addict that these incredible stories and writers inspired me to write a novel. I used to write short horror stories but since becoming a romance addict there was nothing else for me to write but romance.

When my novel Scarlet Kisses was just an idea in a notebook it was originally going to be a story about three sisters finding love but the moment I wrote the scene where Robert (the hero) is with his three best friends I fell in love with every man present and knew I had to write their stories and find them a woman to love.

In the first novel of my passions unveiled series my heroine Alyssum is discovering love and passion for the first time and Robert is discovering his one time childhood friend is a woman grown and whose he’s finding very attractive.

Each day I wrote this novel the characters dragged me where they wanted to go and it was nothing but an adventure. I wrote it in three great months and finished that last sentence with a smile.

ScarletKisses300

Alyssum Rosewood has just come to a shocking realization. Her life is boring. Visions of spinsterhood dancing in her head, she dons a dramatic red gown and sneaks out to attend Lady Brook’s infamous masquerade ball, where a gentleman sweeps her into his arms and steals a kiss that reveals a passion she never dreamed existed. But then she learns his identity—the reckless and improper Viscount Lambert, her overprotective brother’s best friend.

Robert Lambert finds the lady in red captivating. Her kiss quickens his heart and her innocent yet wicked touch sets his body on fire. But she slips from his grasp and flees before he can remove her mask. Come hell or high scandal, he will find his fiery little temptress.

Certain Robert will be horrified to learn she is the woman whose shocking behavior aroused his lust, Alyssum desperately tries to hide the truth deep in her heart. But with every look, every touch, every kiss, she comes ever closer to throwing caution to the wind…

Warning: This book contains a hidden love, a possessive brother, scoundrels and fistfights. A scarlet gown, ladies sneaking into taverns and a heroine who has just been awakened into the world of pleasure.

Alyssum exhaled loudly and looked up. “You said I could pass.”

“You took too long to leave. Now we have another dilemma.” His smile was gone.

“What is it now?”

“I don’t want you to leave.”

Deep breaths. “People will start looking for me,” she said quietly. “Do you want Harry to find me like this?”

“What, speaking to me? That is what we’re doing, isn’t it?” He took a step towards her and she took a step back. They slowly moved farther into the gazebo.

“You’re standing too close to me,” Alyssum whispered.

“This isn’t close,” he spoke quietly while his eyes bore into hers. “This is.” He took a quick step towards her which made her jump backwards. Her back pressed into the frame of the gazebo and Robert pressed into her front. She gasped, unable to control her reaction to feeling him again. She slowly lifted her gaze back to his. “What are you doing?” she asked breathlessly.

“Standing too close to you.”

A Winner, A New Contest, and a Question…

A Winner!

IMG_3937I forgot all about this! So sorry! For my defense, I have been a little busy. Still am. If you saw yesterday’s post, you have an inkling why. :)

Anyway, I used a random number generator to pick the day and the winner’s name. The lucky winner gets one handmade (by me!) “Night Crow” pendant with black leather cord necklace. I painted and inked it, then threw in some crumbles of silver leaf. It’s very pretty and dark.

From Tuesday, April 23rd, the winner is…Teresa Hughes! Teresa, congratulations!! Send me an email with your snail mail address, and I will get your pendant into the mail!

A Brand New Contest

Let’s make this super easy. Since I have so many books coming out in June, I’ll help one reader with her book budget!

What can you win? An Amazon gift card worth $20!

Amazon Gift Card

What do you have to do to win? Simple. Comment on my blog—on any posting, from now thru May 30th! I’ll choose a winner at random from among all the comments. Good luck!

A Question

My DVR is filled to bursting with shows I’ve taped and hope to have time to watch soon. Last night I watched the season finales for NCIS (love the very special Tony DiNozzo!) and NCIS: Los Angeles (you thought I’d love on LL, right? Oh he’s still  hot, but Marty Deeks is stealin’ my heart!).

Of course, both shows left us with maddening cliffhangers. What both shows also gave us were two long-time-coming kisses. Tony finally kissed Ziva—on the freakin’ forehead! Dang-it! But did you see Marty kiss Kensi? I wanted to see him grin afterwards, but I’m guessing he’ll be regretting the impulse in the new season when she puts him firmly back in “partner” status.

What about you? Are there any shows that are just killing you? Will Juliette ever fall back in love with her Grimm? Will Patrick Jane ever catch Red John? Have we really seen the last of Lena and H.G. in Warehouse 13?

Notes for Readers & Writers

I’m still not recovered from the RT Convention in Kansas City. Can’t seem to make myself sit and write. Maybe moving immediately to another house to house sit while my dd is in DC has something to do with it. I like my writer’s cave. Like the fact I don’t have interruptions. Who knew 4 dogs and 4 cats would be so needy?! :???:

In the meantime, there are some things I thought you all might like to know about. First, for you readers…

Two scintillating full-length volumes of erotica are currently on sale for just $.99 each! So what if you don’t read lesbian erotica! Readers have loved taking the walk on the wild side for these stories. If you thought you knew everything there was to know about vampires or shapeshifters, think again! These are very original, very unique, award-winning stories. And for such a great price, don’t you think you owe it to yourself to see what all the fuss is about? Click on the covers to head straight to Amazon!

Girls Who Bite She Shifters

And then there are the June books up for pre-order now!

cm  TwiceTheBang_600 Lost Souls

Crescent Moon begins releasing June 4th! What do I mean by that? It’s a serialized full-length book. Montlake, an arm of Amazon, will release a new installment every two weeks. You pay one price, $1.99, and get the new installments shipped automatically to your Kindle every time they release! Fun, right? And the story? Well, think mummies and demons and cops…

Twice the Bang? It releases June 18th! You know what to expect there if you’ve been reading the Delta Heat books. It’s book #4 in the series. I plan 5 stories total for my horny Memphis cops!

Lost Souls is the sequel to Shattered Souls, the next Caitlyn O’Connell PI story, and there are more spooky happenings in Memphis! It releases June 25th!

I promised something for you writers… How about a big ol’ nag! I need stories for Hot Highlanders and Wild Knights! If you’ve ever thought you’d like to give writing a medieval romance a go, now’s the time! The stories are due to me by June 1st, so there’s still time. You can write a short story in a weekend, promise! See the details regarding the call here:  Hot Highlanders and Wild Knights

Guest Blogger: MJ Fredrick

657 My first firefighter crush was on John Gage (Randolph Mantooth) on the TV show Emergency! I was in elementary school. Ever since, I’ve had to check out TV shows with firefighters.

One of my favorites was Third Watch, especially in the wake of 9-11, where the characters would head to the rubble of the WTC after their shift. That was really intense and heart-breaking, but so cathartic to watch.

Then came Rescue Me, which my husband loved but I loathed. I didn’t find one character I could root for. Not one of them was heroic, which my husband said was the point–they were just regular guys doing a hard job. But they spoiled my ideal of the firefighter, which I am convinced is more the truth than that show would have me believe.

Now I’m loving Chicago Fire. That show has its share of firefighters making bad decisions (CRUZ!) but there are redeeming moments and characters you can root for, and a hottie or two. I love the overarching storylines, like Casey’s problems with the cop. My favorite character is Christopher, the down-on-his-luck firefighter who has so many money problems. He makes the show for me.

I love my fictionalized firefighters, because they remind me of the dangers these brave men and women face every day.

What about you? Do you have a favorite TV or movie firefighter? What about in books? How flawed can a character be before you can no longer root for him?

BIO: MJ Fredrick’s first two books were about firefighters: Where There’s Smoke is about a city firefighter who falls for his best friend, and Hot Shot is about a wildfire fighter who falls for the reporter who wants to make him out to be a hero when he sees himself as anything but.
