BEHOLD Clash of the Geeks - The Wheaton / Scalzi Fan Fiction Chapbook

A long time ago, on an Internet far, far away, John Scalzi's brain unleashed the most epic and awesome and WTF image ever known in the history of all the tribes: The Unicorn Pegasus Kitten.

But a Unicorn Pegasus Kitten alone wasn't enough, and so I was placed astride it, wearing the Infamous Clown Sweater. And I, riding a Unicorn Pegasus Kitten while wearing a Clown Sweater (and short shorts), though certainly enough for some mortals, wasn't enough for us, so a Scalzorc was added. And while...

Wesley Crusher's Sweet-Ass Motherfucking Bouffant

When I was a teenager pretending to fly a spaceship, I got to do a lot of really cool things with a lot of really cool people. The price of admission to this wonderful world, though, was the most annoying hairdo I've ever experienced in my life. I called it Wesley's Helmet Hair, because it did not move at all once the hair department shellacked it, and I really, really hated it.

There was some decree that hair was perfect in the future, so before every take, one of the hairdressers would...

even more twitter funtimes, the super mario bros birthday edition

I don't think this really needs additional context or commentary. All you need to know is that Super Mario Bros. turned 25 yesterday.

etherlad: Happy 25th anniversary, Mario. We're sorry, but your cake is in another castle.
wilw: Happy 25th birthday, Super Mario Bros! Your cake is in another castle.
etherlad: @wilw DAMNIT WIL I JUST SAID THAT
wilw: @etherlad I'm fairly confident that you and I are not the only exceptionally clever people who will come up with this joke today.
etherlad...

garage discoveries

I spent a little time in the garage today, and was rewarded with a bunch of nifty discoveries, so I thought I'd share pictures of a few of them. All of these images can be clicked to embiggen them at Flickr, where you can learn more about them:

in which wil goes HULK SMASH

Last night, I was supposed to perform in the Thrilling Adventure Hour at Largo with a bunch of my friends, and a bunch of people who I really admire. Unfortunately, the sinus infection I was fighting all week had other plans, so I stayed home and rested on the couch with a screening of Repo Man.

I ended up sort of live-tweeting the thing, with silly pictures and quotes from the movie, which I did with Forbidden Zone awhile back. I'm not sure if it was as amusing to Twitter as it was to me...

i'm mister laughypants

Sinus-related happy funtimes* have temporarily halted my plans to finish my PAX after action report. I hope to get to it by the weekend, but until I do, please enjoy this silly video my friend Greg shot, which I'm kind of in:

Also, this picture taken by Heath while we played D&D. It captures everything I love about playing D&D with my friends:

Acquisitions Inc Panel 19

(Click the image to embiggen at Flickr, and maybe say something nice to Heath for taking this picture, and sharing it with the rest of the...

bumper stickers for proud gamermoms and gamerdads

I wonder if the current generation of about-to-be-born geeklings will appreciate how awesome it is to have geekmoms and geekdads?

Zero Lives says:

My son Dean is going to be out of beta in just over 3 months and I've
got some preparing to do. I've never understood why parent stick the
crap bumper stickers about their six year olds making the honor list in a
grade where bladder control is part of the curriculum. So I decided to
make some stickers that I would be proud to brag about to the...

Seattle! You can see Marian Call with Molly Lewis and Jason Finn on Thursday! GO GO GO!

One of the great joys of w00tstock 2.4 in San Diego was finally getting to see and hear Marian Call in person; she is brilliant, and totally One Of Us.

I was talking with Marian this morning, and she told me that she has a show coming up in Seattle:

Well, we're having a sort of mini-w00tstock 2.4 reunion up here, with me, Molly, and Finn this Thursday night. I am very very very excited as I get to have a full band and strings and such for the show, which my usual gypsy-ing about prohibits. ...
