Scientist (Who Is a Creationist) Wins Prestigious Research Award

Dr. Andy McIntosh, professor of thermodynamic and combustion theory at the University of Leeds in England, has led a research team that investigated aspects of the Bombardier beetle, and he has won a prestigious award. So much for those secularists who continually claim that real scientists can't be creationists.

Actually, Dr. McIntosh has spoken for AiG many times in the UK on creation, plus his own speaking engagements all over the world. Andy is also a dear personal friend.

Here is how the BBC reported on the award:

The deadly defence system of a tiny African beetle has inspired award-winning research into a new generation of technology.

The 2cm (0.8in) long Bombardier beetle defends itself with toxic steam which it can blast up to 20cm (8in).

A team of scientists from the University of Leeds have developed a technology which is based on the beetle's spray mechanism.

They say it may lead to improvements in the automotive and health industries.

The team's work has received the outstanding contribution to innovation and technology title at the Times Higher Education awards in London.

The report goes on to say the following:

[This research] could inspire new types of nebulisers, needle-free injections, fire extinguishers and powerful fuel injection systems. . . .

The university's professor of thermodynamics and combustion theory, Andy McIntosh, who led the research team, said: "Nobody had studied the beetle from a physics and engineering perspective as we did, and we didn't appreciate how much we would learn from it."

You can read the entire news item on the BBC website.

I received this report from friends in the UK:

On Nov 25th Andy was amazed to win the Times Higher Educational 2010 Innovation and Technology award for work that has been done on the Bombardier Beetle Spray Technology – quite a prestigious event with 1200 at a banquet at the Dorchester in London hosted by Michael Portillo. . . . There were 18 sections in the competition and some pretty stiff opposition in the Innovation section with 5 other Universities shortlisted, including a clever space debris collection project from the University of Surrey.

The BBC has covered the Times Higher Education awards at the website, and there is some more detail at the University of Leeds website.

The Times Higher also has a brief description.

Andy says, "I believe there is much more of nature's secrets that we could learn from our great Creator if we looked with an eye to see design . . . it was such an experimental and entrepreneurial spirit that led Wilbur and Orville Wright 107 years ago this month, to successfully copy the wing control of birds and so fly a warp wing controlled flying machine to fly along Kitty Hawk beach, in North Carolina . . . the distance covered was approximately the length of a Boeing 747!"

Praise the Lord for Andy!

Thanks for stopping by and thanks for praying,

Ken

Great Encouragement

For all the negative things being said in the secular media about AiG, the Creation Museum, and the proposed Ark Encounter, it is good to be reminded of the majority of the kinds of positive responses AiG receives—like these two letters received this week that will really encourage you:

Dear Mr. Ham

I just wanted to thank you for all the work you and the team at Answers in Genesis and the Creation Museum have done.  After being out of school for 25 years, I recently went back to college to earn a degree in applied science.  This has required me to take biology and I have found the evolutionary aspects of the class to be quite exasperating.  It has been extremely refreshing and uplifting knowing that I can just go online [www.AnswersInGenesis.org] and find answers and resources that combat every single, unreasonable argument that I am being forced to learn.

In a way, it is disheartening to see how many young people are learning about evolution as if it is truth and not even questioning its validity.  I am trying to be salt and light, but it is not easy.

I was able to visit the Creation Museum a couple of years ago with my husband and young children and we just loved it!  It truly brought the truth of God's Word to life.  I don't understand how anyone could go there and not come out a believer, but I know from experience with my Biology Lab teacher (who also visited and called it "spooky") that it happens.  It just proves that God's Word is foolishness to those who don't believe.

I know it isn't much but I would like to give a gift to show my appreciation for the knowledge I have gained from all of your resources.  Please use it where you think it would be most prosperous.  Maybe towards the new Ark exhibit that is going to be built.  I can't wait to see it.

Thank you again.

Sincerely in Christ,

– J.A., OH

Here is the second letter:

Dear Mr. Ham,

I recently asked my children to make a list of what they wanted for Christmas.  I was touched when I read my 16 year old son's list and I thought, "I need to send this to Ken Ham!"  I hope it will encourage you.  While many teen boys might be hoping for video games and Ipods, my son … has a hunger to learn more about the Bible and apologetics.  God has used you and your ministry to play a large part in my son's life.  While [he] has had a love for the Lord from a young age, he has more recently developed a passion for understanding and sharing the relevance of Genesis and the authority of Scripture.

As a high school junior, [he] already feels the Lord leading him to Cedarville University.  Although he is yet undecided on which science he will major in, his long term goal is to obtain his Ph.D. and be a biblical apologist.  Of course, he also hopes to work with Answers in Genesis some day.

We will continue to pray for you, your family and your ministry. Thank you for all your hard work.  You are a blessing to many!

Sincerely in Christ,

– K.A., OH

Rebutting Misrepresentations

Money in State Budget Will Not Be Used to Build the Ark Encounter (AiG's Prepared Statement)

Critics of Answers in Genesis and the Creation Museum continue to misrepresent the nature of the funding for a full-size Noah's Ark and associated attractions in northern Kentucky. This project, the Ark Encounter, is owned by the Ark Encounter LLC of Springfield, Missouri, and AiG—with its expertise in running the successful Creation Museum—will operate the attraction. Contrary to many critics' assertions, no money will be taken out of the state budget either to fund the Ark's construction or to operate it when it opens (as we have stated publicly many times; e.g., see Feedback: Taxpayers Will Not Be Paying to Build the Ark Encounter).

Yet certain outlets (e.g., Ark Park Update: Ky. Gov. Says State Won't Allow Job Bias – But That's Not Enough and Tax breaks to build an ark? 'Noah' way, brother ) continue to make this false charge. Their writers have obviously not read the Tourism Development Act of Kentucky. So let us declare once again: if the application for incentives submitted by the LLC is approved by the state, the only people to pay any taxes related to the project will be the future Ark Encounter visitors. They will be the ones paying sales tax at the attraction, and the state will rebate a portion of the sales tax back to the Ark Encounter LLC based on the attraction meeting specific attendance-performance marks.

Ultimately, the Ark Encounter, projected to attract 1.6 million visitors in the first year, will add several million dollars to the state treasury each year and not take funds from it, as is often misreported. Furthermore, 14,000 people may be employed in associated jobs that are generated by the Ark project. (By the way, workers at the attraction and outside its gates, from upper management to service workers, will become taxpayers themselves.)

If you haven't read our previous article about misrepresentations regarding the Ark Encounter, I encourage you to do so.

By the way, I trust people have learned the lesson over the years (just as we saw—and continue to experience—with the Creation Museum): don't trust what you read in the secular (and some of the Christian) media—and certainly don't believe the secular bloggers who often have no regard for the truth.

Thanks for stopping by and thanks for praying,

Ken

Refreshing Article on the Ark Encounter

It is refreshing, amidst the onslaught of secularist propaganda articles full of falsehoods and personal attacks, to read an accurate article about the proposed Ark Encounter. This news article comes from the very popular WorldNetDaily news source. (It should be noted that the Kentucky tourism tax incentives for this project have yet to go through the normal processes and have not yet been officially approved.)

Here are excerpts from the article:

A company associated with the Christian apologetics ministry Answers in Genesis has announced plans to build a full-scale replica of Noah's ark in Grant County, Ky., southwest of Cincinnati.

The 500-foot ark will serve as the main attraction in a theme park to be constructed by Ark Encounter LLC, a partnership headed by AIG. . . ,

"We see increasingly in our nation a generation of kids who don't hear about the Bible anymore in the schools," said Ken Ham , founder of Answers in Genesis, the ministry that runs the Creation Museum in Petersburg, Ky, about 40 miles from the planned location of the ark.

"We believe that rebuilding Noah's ark out of wood according to the dimensions in the Bible would be a tremendous way to get people to think about the Bible and that particular story," Ham explained. . . .

Under an incentive program designed to bring more tourism revenue and jobs to the state, the Tourism Development Act, Kentucky is providing a rebate of 25 percent of tax revenues generated by the park for the first 10 years of operation.

Ham said the park plans to employ 900 people, and another 14,000 jobs will be created by hotels, restaurants and other businesses expected to spring up to cater to the massive number of visitors.

"People are making false claims" that the state is subsidizing the park, said Ham. He said Ky. Gov. Steve Beshear "looked very carefully at the plan to make sure there were no problems with church-state separation." . . .

"A lot of left-wing media and bloggers have reacted very negatively, writing a lot of false information. They only represent a minority of the people in this nation. The majority of people in this area and across the nation are supportive. The statistics show about 200 million people would want to come if the ark were rebuilt. Locally, the majority of people are really thrilled because it's family-friendly and it would bring hundreds of jobs to the region," said Ham.

"There is a growing anti-Christian element in this nation," Ham added. "This has opened people's eyes about how anti-Christian these people and some in the media have become."

You can read the entire article on the WorldNetDaily website.

Home School Conventions Beckon

It seems that more and more home school groups are tying into Answers in Genesis for help in science-related areas (and biblical history). Not only have we expanded our curricula resources to meet the growing needs of families in what can sometimes be a challenging area of study (science), but we're often asked to speak at state-wide home school conventions.

In 2011, I will be speaking at several home education conferences. In many instances, I will give five talks. Even if you are not home educating but live in one of the areas below, you are encouraged to attend and check out the latest in Christian-teaching materials from AiG. These conferences will also feature some dynamic speakers on the topic of Christian home education in America, apologetics-based teen tracks, a comedian (Tim Hawkins), kids programs, and more!  For more information, see the home page of Great Home School conventions at GreatHomeSchoolConventions.com

I will be keynoting the following home-school conferences:

March 3-5, 2011:  Home Educators Conference—Memphis, Tennessee

Special Holiday Workshop

The Creation Museum is offering a special holiday workshop three days this month. Our museum staff has told me that the workshop will "review the account of the first Christmas in an 'oh-so-different' way! Experience a fun, engaging, educational, action-packed hour that ends with time at the manger. A take-home craft solidifies the point that Jesus is the greatest gift of all."

This workshop for children ages 4–12 is called Christmas Town Kids and costs $3.50 (10% discount for museum members). Ruth Carter, a daughter of missionaries to Africa and with many years of experience as a children's teacher and curriculum writer, will present Christmas Town Kids tomorrow (Saturday) the 18th at 12:00 and 2:00; and on the 27th at 1:30.  Notice that these dates fall on some of the days that the Creation Museum is hosting its annual gift to the community called Christmas Town, so make plans to come for the workshop and then stay for the live Nativity, dramas, and the lights!

For further information go to the Creation Museum blog post.

Christmas Town Again—Next Two Nights

Last week, nearly 4,000 people attended the two special nights featuring Christmas Town—a live Nativity, dramas, incredible Creation Museum Garden light display, and other great features. Don't miss out if you live anywhere in our region (we're just west of the Cincinnati Airport, in northern Kentucky).

Here is a photo taken last week of our Mary and Joseph characters in the kataluma and our archaeologist actor who explains the Nativity:

Vision for Bulgaria

Recently, AiG speaker Dr. Terry Mortenson visited Bulgaria. Terry sent me this report about the ongoing effects of his recent ministry there, and he also shares about the vision for creation ministry (and the needs) in Bulgaria. Terry sent me this report:

In the last couple of weeks I've had two exciting emails from Darin in Bulgaria, reporting on further fruit from my time speaking on creation for him (and through him as my translator) in several cities in Bulgaria for a week in early October. He also shared more of his vision for his creation ministry. I thought you would be encouraged. In his email yesterday he reported:

Hope, and pray that all is well with you, my brother! I miss the time we had together in ministry recently. You are gone, but the fruits for the Lord from your visit keep ever multiplying. I get wonderful feedback from the presentations you had and from the distribution of the AiG materials all over Bulgaria. They are so many, so I will just share one very interesting.

At your presentation in the Medical College in Varna an old man who used to be a teacher attended. I don't know if you remember him. I also could not remember, but the CCC guys from Varna student ministry called me and asked me if I could make a presentation at a public school in the city of Silistra. The story behind this invitation is that the former teacher who attended your presentation was so deeply touched that he have shared he felt so bad for all the years that he have "lost" in his own words believing in evolution and teaching it to the kids. The man was so serious about God that he started attending every meeting of the student ministry even though they are only young people there. He begged them to help him arrange that the school where he used to be a teacher be reached with a speaker and a presentation. He said that he will arrange all with the school, but he wanted a lecturer. Here come I and the CCC calls me and we are working already to arrange this presentation for teachers and students to happen. Terry, you are putting me to work even when you are not here, did you realise that ?

Of course I rejoice over all this and am grateful to you and AiG. . . .

I have visited also the Academia Biblica in Bucharest [Romania] and Dr. John Ceuta. As you recall, we met him "by chance" at the airport when I was sending you back to US. I am laying the ground for a serious outreach for the future. I think sometime early next I will be invited to do presentations for young people in Bucharest. I will keep you updated on all.

Darin has a great vision for creation ministry in Bulgaria and beyond. He hopes to have the New Answers Book 1 available in early 2011. Next year he also wants to get 10–12 AiG DVDs translated and the New Answers Book 2 and 3 translated and published. In addition, he is burdened to translate materials into Turkish for the many Muslims in Bulgaria and neighboring Turkey, where he has a contact with the head of a Christian TV station that broadcasts via the internet to Muslim Turks inside and outside of Turkey.

Darin has placed a booklet/DVD rack with a TV/DVD player and headphones in the large regional library in Ruse (the large city where Darin lives). And he has to opportunity to put a creationist explanation sign next to the evolution explanation sign by the various fossils in the Ruse Natural History Museum. The president of Bulgaria recently visited the school where Darin's son David (age 14) attends. While standing in the crowd, Darin had the opportunity to give the president the AiG booklets and the Answers for Kids books, and the president said he would look at them. In the last 18 months, Darin has given away for free almost 5,000 DVDs and 20,000–30,000 AiG booklets, and he's been careful to donate in the best churches and other locations.

He is just starting to develop another creative ministry outreach. He has made contact with the doctors who are heads of departments in some major hospitals in Ruse and elsewhere. He has offered to supply free water machines with a steady supply of bottled drinking water, if they sign a contract that would allow him to also place creation DVD and literature resources around the water machine (see the attached pictures). He estimates that to place and maintain the water machines with the literature would cost about $425 per year to supply people in one department of a hospital with a drink of water and the truth that will set them free.

Most of the churches in Bulgaria would be young-earth creationist in their view of Genesis, but they have little or no knowledge of how to defend that position biblically and scientifically or how to use the scientific and biblical truth to reach lost people, especially the university-educated who have been thoroughly indoctrinated in evolution and millions of years. This is why Darin is so concerned to equip the church with resources for children and lay-people initially (like the Answers books for kids and adults) and then later, some more technical resources. Bulgaria is a poor country (with a small wealthy class), so Darin wants to get these resources out to the believers for free or for very little price, while the fields are so white for harvest. Already some churches in Bulgaria want to help him financially, but there is still a need for help from the West. A few years ago, Larry, a Christian teacher in Texas, found out about Darin's ministry, and God burdened him to set up a non-profit organization to help raise funds for Darin.

Please consider this exciting and strategic outreach in your Christmas, year-end giving. While there are many worthy causes to give to, this certainly is one of them and one that is strategic for the gospel and defense of the faith in southeastern Europe that so desperately needs the truth of God's Word.

If you would like to financially support Darin's creation ministry in Bulgaria in any way (translation and publication of books and DVDs in Bulgarian and Turkish, hospital water/resource dispensers, his traveling/speaking ministry, etc.), you can send a check by mail to the address at this link and say that the gift is for the Bulgarian ministry of Darin Ivanov (see below). I don't see any way that you can designate your giving if you do it online with PayPal. CWVO is a one-man organization in Texas that raises money to help creation evangelism ministries in several foreign countries, but his focus is Bulgaria and Ukraine. If you send a designated gift for Darin's ministry in Bulgaria, then you may want to follow up that gift with an email to Darin (Darin Ivanov, darin_bg[at]hotmail[dot]com) to let him know you sent it and also to ask him to occasionally send some news of what the Lord is doing there.

If you would like to help get DVDs into Bulgarian by transcribing (into a Microsoft Word document) the spoken words on the DVD in order to speed up Darin's process of translating (he can translate and dub one DVD for about $250, but for him to also transcribe the English costs a lot more time and money), then please contact me (not Darin) so that I can make sure that only one person is working on one DVD) and I will send you one of the DVDs that Darin has selected for translation. Such transcription work would not just help Darin in Bulgaria, but could be used for every other language in which some keen national Christian wants to translate that same DVD for his country. So this would be a very strategic ministry, if you have the time to listen to the DVD and transcribe what is said. Just email me at the following address:

tmortenson[at]answersingenesis[dot]org

Thanks for praying and, if the Lord leads, giving of your finances and/or time to help Darin. And thanks again for your partnership in this ministry. Terry

None of Them Ever Taught Me Any of This Stuff

Here's a testimony from my Facebook page that I wanted to share with all my blog readers:

. . . We just finished reading New Answers book 1 in our homeschool today. Thank you SO MUCH for your ministry! I'm 42 years old, and I've been a Christian since I was 4, and I've attended about a dozen different denominational churches, and non-denominational churches, and NONE OF THEM ever taught me ANY of this stuff! I so wish I would have had this knowledge 25 years ago when I was entering college. Maybe I would have made some better choices. Maybe I would have been a stronger witness.

I can't change the past, but what I CAN do is teach my children and prepare them for a better future, and I could never do it this effectively without the resources available through AIG. Thank you for the books, videos and resources that you make available to us. Your ministry is priceless. I wish I had the financial resources to support your ministry more. This is a treasure, and I want to see it reach the whole world. Thank you for your work. May the Lord God strengthen and inspire you. God bless you.

Thanks for stopping by and thanks for praying,

Ken

How Does Kentucky Line Up with the Rest of the States?

Yesterday on my blog, I commented on Jay Leno's mocking of the Ark Encounter project on his Tonight Show (twice last week), but at the same time, he mocked the state of Kentucky—even implying Kentucky was a backward state educationally. A number of news reporters and other evolutionists have recently mocked the state of Kentucky because of the announcement that the Ark Encounter project—a full-scale Ark, made out of wood, and constructed to the biblical dimensions—was to be built in the state.

So, I think it is time to give you a few facts about Kentucky and some of the notable things associated with the state that I've lived in for almost 17 years now:

Fort Knox—the U.S. gold depository and Army post—is in Kentucky.
The Corvette Museum and the factory that makes Corvettes sports cars are in Kentucky. Also, there is a huge complex of Toyota factories south of us where Camrys, Siennas, and Avalons are made; in fact, Toyota's manufacturing headquarters in the U.S. is just a few miles east of our Creation Museum (on the same interstate).
"The Colonel's" original Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) restaurant is in Kentucky.
Abraham Lincoln was born in this state. In fact, Lincoln favored Kentucky so much that in the Civil War era, he tried to get Kentucky to side with the North. Kentucky tried to remain neutral but ultimately sent troops to both the North (100,000) and the South (40,000) to fight and finally went with the South.  Interestingly, the only president of the Southern States (Confederacy) was also from Kentucky, Jefferson Davis. (http://www.kentuckytourism.com/explore/kyfacts/history.aspx)
Several movies, such as the recent films Seabiscuit and Elizabethtown have been set in Kentucky; one of staff member Renee Looy's favorite films, Coal Miner's Daughter, was set here as well. Portions of the first half of the Oscar-winning movie (Best Film of 1988), Rainman, with Tom Cruise and Dustin Hoffman, were filmed near our Creation Museum.
Kentucky calls itself "the horse capital of the world." Some beautiful, large horse farms are located just south of where our Ark Encounter will be built. And, of course, the Kentucky Derby, of which the Queen of England has come to see (only a few other states can say they have hosted that level of foreign royalty in recent years), happens in Kentucky
Kentucky was frontiersman Daniel Boone's old stomping ground, and Boonesborough, Kentucky was among the first settlements west of the Appalachians.
Muhammad Ali, the famous world champion boxer, is from Kentucky. And ABC-TV news anchor Diane Sawyer, who featured our Ark Encounter project last week on her evening newscast, is from the state.
Louisville Sluggers, the famous baseball bats, are made in Kentucky.
Believe it or not, bourbon was invented in Kentucky by a Baptist minister named Elijah Craig.
Oh, before I forget, the world-famous Creation Museum is in Kentucky.
As I listed above, the upcoming Ark Encounter, now receiving worldwide media attention, will be in Kentucky.
The large Cincinnati Airport is actually in Kentucky, not Ohio!
Actors such as George Clooney, Johnny Depp, and Billy Ray Cyrus (a singer as well) hail from Kentucky
Country and Bluegrass musicians such as The Judds, Crystal Gayle, Bill Monroe, Loretta Lynn, Patty Loveless, Ricky Skaggs, and Dwight Yoakum have their roots in Kentucky. (Dr. Tommy Mitchell of our staff would not forgive me if I don't include the fact that Bluegrass music was pioneered by Bill Monroe.)
James Bowie, the inventor of the Bowie knife and famous for the Alamo battle in Texas, was from Kentucky.
Christopher "Kit" Carson, who became a leading frontiersman out west, was born in Kentucky.
Christian musicians such as Steven Curtis Chapman and the band Bride are from Kentucky.
NASCAR champions Darrell Waltrip and Michael Waltrip are from Kentucky.
The largest cave system (yet found) is in our state: Mammoth Caves.
And . . . in regard to education? Someone better tell Jay Leno and Hollywood in California that according to statistics on education (i.e., which is the smartest state?), Kentucky ranked higher than these following states (and significantly higher than California where Jay Leno lives) based on 21 factors (see http://www.morganquitno.com/edrank.htm):

Kentucky
Arkansas
Washington
Ohio
Illinois
Oklahoma
West Virginia
Utah
Michigan
Oregon
Georgia
Hawaii
New Mexico
Louisiana
Alabama
Alaska
California
Mississippi
Nevada
Arizona

Here is a link to more interesting things about Kentucky: http://www.50states.com/facts/kentucky.htm

So, be near the Creation Museum and the coming Ark Encounter, and move to Kentucky!  :)

Ken

Jay Leno Mocks Kentucky and Ark Project Recently

Now I realize that comedian/TV host Jay Leno (from The Tonight Show) probably has all his "comedy" lines written for him. Also, he probably doesn't talk through the logic of his monologue with his writers, but two times last week he mocked the Ark Encounter project and the state of Kentucky (where it will be located). In fact, Kentucky residents should be highly offended that he twice implied Kentucky education is backward.

But it seems that one thing is lost on Jay Leno: He is mocking the education standard in Kentucky because the Ark Encounter project is to be built in that state, yet secularists are bemoaning the state of education in the whole of the USA compared to other countries. People like Leno try to make out that if something Christian (particularly creationist) is allowed in the state of Kentucky, then the standard of education will fall.

However, Christianity has all but been thrown out of public education across the nation. Evolution/millions of years is basically taught as fact throughout the public schools and secular colleges. And for all that, guess what has happened? The education standard has decreased! Yet Leno wouldn't want to associate the secularization of education with lowering standards, but that is precisely the association he needs to make—in a serious way (if he is able).

And of course Leno mocks those who believe dinosaurs and people lived at the same time, but I'm sure he wouldn't be able to defend his position. Like most people, he would hide behind his comedy lines and point to secular scientists. He most likely would have no idea how to actually defend his anti-Christian position except say something like, "Well, believe the secular scientists." Interestingly, there are many examples of plants and animals living today alongside humans that evolutionists would say lived with (and even before) dinosaurs, yet they claim (often very emotionally) that there is no way dinosaurs could have lived with humans.

You can watch Leno's segments (after you first have to view a short commercial) at these links:

Go to the segment that starts at 8:36: http://www.nbc.com/the-tonight-show/video/monday-december-6-2010/1263754/
Go to the segment that starts at 7:50: http://www.nbc.com/the-tonight-show/video/friday-december-10-2010/1264522/

There is a passage of Scripture that applies to Jay Leno and his writers:

. . . that scoffers will come in the last days, walking according to their own lusts, and saying, "Where is the promise of His coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of creation." For this they willfully forget: that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of water and in the water, by which the world that then existed perished, being flooded with water.  But the heavens and the earth which are now preserved by the same word, are reserved for fire until the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men. (2 Peter 3:3–7)

We have certainly had our scoffers to the announcement of the Ark Encounter project; although, this is to be expected in this world where "men loved darkness rather than light" (John 3:19).

I missed all the media excitement the past two weeks (as I've been in Australia) after Gov. Steve Beshear of Kentucky announced on December 1 that the Ark Encounter LLC and Answers in Genesis will be partnering to build a full-scale, all-wood Ark (plus other themed attractions located about 40 miles south of our Creation Museum). The worldwide media coverage was more substantial than we ever expected; you can see a list of many of the media reports on this site hosted by a creationist colleague: http://wiki.creationorg/Ark_Encounter_news

The current issue of Newsweek magazine has a short item about the Ark Encounter. Earlier in the week, there was a major article and a graphic of the Ark Encounter's rendering in the New York Times, and a news segment appeared on World News with Diane Sawyer (the ABC evening news program that airs nationwide across America).

In addition, newspapers in Hong Kong, Italy, India, Ireland, New Zealand, many outlets in my native Australia, and so on popped up.

A German reporter from a Berlin newspaper was here at the museum on Friday to do a story on the Ark Encounter, and he also visited the site of the land for the Ark project.

Now, and as expected, some media outlets and countless bloggers misrepresented the state's involvement in the Ark Encounter in terms of the incentives being offered to the Ark Encounter LLC. Read our web article (which was posted on Friday) that sets the record straight.

What's the saddest part of the misinformation? Well, it's the reports and commentaries written by Christians who wrongly suggest that the Ark Encounter is a frivolous "amusement" park. For the most part, it seems that their opposition has more to do with the fact that they don't care for our message that Christians need to believe the book of Genesis as a historical book.

Thanks for stopping by and thanks for praying,

Ken
