Ark Exhibit Coming
Visitors to the Creation Museum have been asking about the large structure they see under construction at the side of the Creation Museum.
This structure is a full-scale model of one bay in Noah’s Ark, like the one we will be building in Williamstown, Kentucky. Various exhibits will be placed in these bays as people walk through the Ark. This structure is only one bay of one floor (it has a mezzanine level).
Imagine two more bays stacked on this one and about 40 of these for each floor—you’ll realize how big the Ark structure will be and how much room we will have for exhibits to teach the truth of God’s Word and the gospel. There will be a total of over 130 bays in the Ark.
Here is a photo of the structure under construction at the Creation Museum.
When it is finished in a couple of weeks, there will be a number of signs installed to help people understand the size of this one bay in relation to the size of the whole Ark. Yes, Noah’s Ark was huge! Find out more about our Ark project at ArkEncounter.com.
Make sure you come and visit the Creation Museum soon and take a look at this Ark bay!

Creationism Is Absolutely Appropriate for Children!
As many of you know, Bill Nye the “Science Guy” (of PBS TV) recently posted a video on YouTube entitled “Creationism is not appropriate for children.” This video received over 4.7 million views. AiG responded with YouTube videos, blog posts, and an article. But really, one of the best ways to counter Bill Nye is to reach as many children as we can personally, with the truth of God’s Word—and that’s what we continue to do.
As part of our AiG conferences held around the country, we run special school K-12 assemblies. Over a typical year, we reach thousands upon thousands of children and teens.
Yesterday, in Lawrenceville, Georgia, we were thrilled to see hundreds of kids (1,500) pouring into North Metro Baptist church for our school assemblies. I just love teaching the children the truth about dinosaurs—that they were made on the sixth day of creation alongside Adam and Eve. I love to teach them how to think correctly about origins based on Job 38:4. I.e., when someone says “millions of years,” these children will now know to ask politely, “Were you there?” Oh, the secularists hate me teaching children the correct way of thinking. They go ballistic, knowing kids are being taught think in the right way concerning the truth about origins.
I made sure all these young people understand that God created the universe in six literal days about six thousand years ago and that most of the fossils came from the Flood about 4,300 years ago. Yes, thousands upon thousands of children are learning the truth, and we are making sure that we can reach as many children and young people as we can, including at our Creation Museum. Bill Nye, who is really the “Humanist guy,” is out to get kids and brainwash them into secularism and atheism. We need to do all we can to capture these kids for the Lord Jesus Christ.
Here are just a few photos of the children as they began streaming into the auditorium yesterday—busloads of them.
There was tremendous interest in the books and DVDs. Lots of kids will now have resources to teach them the truth about God’s Word.
Here is a group of children from a homeschool group that just love AiG. They made a special sign to hold up.
Yes, Bill Nye has inspired me to be even more fervent in teaching children God’s Word. I made sure all the kids I taught yesterday understood the meaning of the word fiction. I had them call out that the word fiction means “not true.” I gave the children a talk about the seven ages of dinosaurs based on the Bible. And the seventh age (the one we now live in) is called fiction. At the end of the session, I was able to ask students to name some things that are fiction—meaning “not true.” They called out the following:
Millions of years
Evolution
Ape-like creatures turning into humans
Yes, they know now these things are fiction.
Pray for all these children as they are so bombarded by the world’s fiction all around, as the Enemy attempts to capture their hearts and souls for secularism! Pray the Lord will protect these young minds and raise them up as powerful defenders of the Christian faith.

From the Trenches
The last few days I have been speaking at various places in South Carolina and Georgia. It’s hard work out in the “trenches,” but it is very rewarding to hear testimonies from so many people in regard to how AiG has impacted their lives as God has blessed.
Here is a photograph of the morning service I spoke at yesterday at North Metro First Baptist Church in Lawrenceville, Georgia (near Atlanta):
At times I wish our supporters could be with me at the various meetings to hear the testimonies I receive from so many people. Here are just a few over the past few days.
A biologist from a South American country told me it was AiG resources that kept her safe from evolutionary indoctrination. She said she never thought she would ever get to meet me personally to thank me for the AiG resources, which have had such a profound impact on her life.
A man told me he was brought up in a church home, but never given the answers to the issues of evolution/millions of years that caused him to doubt the Bible. He drifted away from the church. He said it was AiG resources that the Lord used in his life to cause him to have a “180 degree turnaround.”
I had a number of different testimonies from people telling me their church is now using the AiG Sunday school program, Answers Bible Curriculum. One lady told me that the kids just love the ABC curriculum because they learn so much. She said some of the teachers were surprised at how much information is taught through the curriculum as they are used to very shallow curricula they have used for years.
On lady told me that their church began using AiG’s Vacation Bible School program a few years ago. She said they would never go back to what they used before as the AiG VBS curriculum really reaches the kids in ways they have not seen before!
One person told me their hearing-impaired children were greatly impacted as young kids by our book “A is for Adam.” She couldn’t thank me enough for the way the Lord used this book in her children’s lives.
A number of people in different locations said to me, “The ministry of AiG changed my life—thank you.”
Well, the above is just a sampling. Praise the Lord. We are so encouraged by the way God uses AiG to impact lives.

Helping Special Needs Children
Over the years I have been amazed—but thrilled—at the number of parents who have told us that our books and also the music of Buddy Davis have had such a positive impact on autistic children. Buddy received another such testimony this past week:
[A family] are very thankful for Buddy’s music. [They have] a 12 year old son, Paul, who is severely autistic … they play Buddy’s music almost constantly throughout the day because Paul loves it so much & it helps to calm him down.
Trip “Is Paying Off”
Recently, the organizers of a Christian school group that traveled 14 hours from New Hampshire to get to our Creation Museum near Cincinnati sent this email:
We were certain [our son] was really questioning his faith and was not in a “good place”. [We] had a phenomenal conversation with him at bedtime this evening and was surprised by his position on a couple things. He is definitely much more grounded than when he left! Second, this boy hates reading, but bought a book on this trip because of hearing Ken Ham’s message. He’s very much thinking about his relationship with God! Thank you. Just wanted to share with you one way this IS paying off. – Grateful Parent

A Buzz at BJU!
Last night I spoke to hundreds of students at Bob Jones University who packed into Stratton Hall on the campus of this Christian university in South Carolina. It was so thrilling to experience the “buzz” at the end of my presentation.
AiG has had a long relationship with several leaders and professors at this Christian institution—a school that takes an ardent stand on a literal Genesis, young earth, six literal days, etc.
When I speak at Christian colleges, our publisher (Master Books) works with us to provide a number of our powerful apologetics materials at super prices so the students can afford them. This is a special ministry for us as we understand the vital importance of equipping the coming generations with apologetics resources to enable them to be equipped to do battle in the spiritual war going on around us.
AiG board member (and retired professor from BJU) Dan Wooster introduced me to the students:
I do count it a real privilege and special opportunity to be entrusted to influence the lives of these young people:
After I spoke, students stood in long lines to obtain the resources:
You can find out more about Bob Jones University at: www.bju.edu
Yesterday morning, I had the opportunity to speak for three hours to writers at Bob Jones University Press. These are the people who write the unique BJU Press Christian and home school textbooks.
The Lord certainly opens special doors for us so we can partner with others who are like minded, as we do our best to reach young adults with the truth of God’s Word and the gospel.

What Is a Secularist?
(Thanks to AiG researcher Steve Golden for the research for this blog.)
Do I have an agenda to “demonize” secularists and confuse words? In a recent article, a Salon.com author claims that many Christians make the confusion. The article made the claim that some groups of Christians are purposely mixing the terms atheist and secularist in order to “demonize” secularism.
Well, I thought it would be important to give the definitions of these and other terms and to explain how we use them at AiG. Our goal is to preach the gospel—not intentionally confuse people. So we want to be clear with our terminology.
Below are the Merriam-Webster’s Dictionary definitions of four commonly used terms at AiG. You’ll notice there is some overlap between them.
Atheism
1 archaic: Ungodliness, Wickedness
2a: a disbelief in the existence of deity
2b: the doctrine that there is no deity
Naturalism
1: action, inclination, or thought based only on natural desires and instincts
2: a theory denying that an event or object has a supernatural significance; specifically: the doctrine that scientific laws are adequate to account for all phenomena
Secularism: indifference to or rejection or exclusion of religion and religious considerations
Secular humanism: humanistic philosophy viewed as a nontheistic religion antagonistic to traditional religion
Now, we don’t have an agenda to “demonize” secularists. But it is interesting to note that even the so-called New Atheists have conflated some of these terms. The author of the article I mentioned above writes that Sam Harris and Richard Dawkins attribute religious violence around the world to “scriptural literalism” and “religious moderates.”
The author responds to Harris and Dawkins, “Surely a school of thought that can’t distinguish between a member of the Taliban beheading a journalist and a Methodist running a soup kitchen in Cincinnati is not poised to make the sound policy decisions that accrue to the good of secularism.” The New Atheists have conflated Bible-believing Christianity with other secular religions.
We at Answers in Genesis want to point out the inconsistency and irrationality of any worldview that is not based on the authority of the Bible. It’s important to remember that the opposite of a Christian is not a secularist, an atheist, a naturalist, or a secular humanist. No, the opposite of a Christian is a non-Christian.
Christ tells us that there is no neutral ground when it comes to our relationship with Him. “He who is not with Me is against Me, and he who does not gather with Me scatters abroad” (Matthew 12:30). As I often point out in my talks to various groups, we’re either racing toward Christ, or we’re racing away into darkness. There is no in-between.
Many times when we use the word secularist in our articles and talks, we aren’t always referencing the strict dictionary definition of the word. We’re typically referring to the philosophy of secular humanism. But that does not necessarily mean that the secularist is an atheist.
Really, a secularist may very well believe in a god or gods—he may even say he believes in the God of the Bible—but does he believe that salvation is received by faith alone in Christ alone? If the answer is no, then it does not matter whether he is a secularist, an atheist, a naturalist, or a secular humanist—he is not a Christian.
We recognize that it’s important to carefully define terms. Now, we have many authors at Answers in Genesis and they may occasionally use different terms in slightly different ways to argue the same points. However, contrary to the claims of the Salon.com author that Christians want to “demonize” secularists, that is not done by AiG, and we do not intend to deceive anyone. The argument that Christians want to intentionally confuse the terms secularist and atheist is unfounded at least on AiG’s part and for the many Christian leaders I know.
Lastly, I would urge professing Christians to abandon concepts of neutrality. When we are speaking with non-Christians, it doesn’t matter whether they are atheists or secularists. If they aren’t Christians, then they need to hear the gospel! And that’s what we at Answers in Genesis want to reach the world with—Christ’s death, burial, and Resurrection that has made salvation available to all who receive it by faith in Christ alone (1 Corinthians 15:1–4).

One Way to Counter the Genesis Deniers
I have written numerous blog posts and Facebook comments recently about the attack on Genesis from the secular world, from Bill Nye to Lawrence Krauss. Coming from the Christian world, there have also been attacks on the Bible’s first book, from theistic evolutionists like Peter Enns and Karl Giberson.
With many secularists, they virtually accuse creationists of forms of child abuse for teaching young people about a literal, historic view of Creation as given in Genesis. And with many Christian academics, they want to convince parents and children to accept evolution. Today more than ever, parents and children need to be more discerning about education.
As parents and students look for higher education opportunities, where can these young people attend and be sure that the professors won’t try to undermine God’s Word with man’s fallible evolutionary thinking?
In just over a month, we will be hosting our second College Expo here at the Creation Museum, near Cincinnati, November 16–17. We will have 21 colleges and universities represented where students, parents, and college representatives can meet one-on-one. These are schools that have signed our Statement of Faith and uphold a young-earth view of Creation. And some of our speakers will give special presentations on Christian education (I will be one of them).
The following schools have already registered to participate:
Appalachian Bible College
Arrowhead Bible College
Bob Jones University
Calvary Bible College & Theological Seminary
Cedarville University
Clearwater Christian College
Crown College
Dayspring Bible College & Seminary
Fairhaven Baptist College
Kentucky Mountain Bible College
Liberty University
Maranatha Baptist Bible College
Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary
Montana Bible College
Northland International University
Ohio Christian University
Patrick Henry College
Pensacola Christian College
The Master’s College
Verity InstituteWelch College
Word of Life Bible Institute
At the Expo, there will be multiple special teaching sessions from Dr. Georgia Purdom, Mike Riddle, Steve Ham, and me. The College Expo is free and includes complimentary Creation Museum admission for all prospective students who will be attending. It also includes special museum pricing for parents accompanying their high school students.
To better plan and make sure we have enough student guides on hand, we request that students register for the Expo. For the complete schedule and to register, visit www.creationcollexpo.org.

My Challenge to Bill Nye
An Associated Press article on Bill Nye “The Science Guy” of TV and his anti-creationist video has been making the rounds in secular and Christian media across the country.
Here is an example of this syndicated AP article, which featured excerpts of an interview with Nye, as it appeared in the media.
The reporter wrote his article as a follow up to the YouTube video of Bill Nye titled, “Creationism is not appropriate for children,” that received millions of views.
(See my YouTube replies, Ken Ham Responds to Bill Nye “The Humanist Guy” and Ken Ham Responds to Intolerant Bill Nye Defenders.)
The AP reporter called me to obtain quotes for this article. One of the points I made to the reporter (which did not make it into the article) is a challenge I have for Bill Nye.
First, the AP article quotes Nye as saying the following:
If we raise a generation of students who don’t believe in the process of science, who think everything that we’ve come to know about nature and the universe can be dismissed by a few sentences translated into English from some ancient text, you’re not going to continue to innovate.
So, here is my challenge (one that I gave to the reporter a few times). I want Bill Nye to name one invention—one piece of technology—that would not have been able to be invented without the inventor believing in evolution. Just name one!
Usually, when I have challenged an evolutionist to come up with one example of something invented for mankind that would not be possible without accepting evolution, I get the following response: “Understanding resistance in bacteria and thus being able to invent drugs.”
But as we have written on our website many times before, antibiotic resistance has nothing to do with molecules-to-man evolution. Whether one is an evolutionist or a creationist, a researcher can observe the resistance and even understand issues of mutations and other things that can cause the resistance. Such research is dealing with observational science.
Sometimes evolutionists have claimed we wouldn’t understand diseases (like the flu virus) and development of vaccines without evolution! But it has nothing to do with molecules-to-man evolution! Both creationists and evolutionists can do the same research as this involves observational science. For instance, here are a few links to articles dealing with bird flu.
Layman article—“Bird Flu—Has it evolved?”
Technical article—“Genetic Variance of Influenza Type A– Avian Virus and its Evolutionary Implications”
I challenge Bill Nye—to name one thing, one invention that would not be possible without believing in molecules-to-man evolution. Tell me one way a belief in evolution has contributed to innovation and developed our technology. Did the Apple company use evolutionary beliefs in developing its software and computers? (Though some people may think so with the latest iPhone operating system and its problems. )
It’s interesting to note that I’ve heard secularists bemoan the bad science scores among students in America—and they blame creationists! Yet, creation has by and large been thrown out of the public school system, while molecules-to-man evolution has been taught as fact.
Why should he be worried at all about current and future generations being able to come up with innovation in technology? After all, he says evolution is the foundation for it all to happen.
Well, millions of public school students, for generations now, have been taught evolution as fact through their education system. By and large they aren’t even allowed to hear about creation. These students have been taught molecules-to-man evolution as fact!
So, from what Bill Nye has claimed about the importance of evolution to innovation and inventions, we should be seeing these students producing new inventions with incredible innovation and on an increasing scale. Nye shouldn’t have to worry about innovation in the future, because evolution has been and is being taught as fact to generations of students in America.
But Bill—where is all this evolution-based innovation? Show me! Why are you even worried? You shouldn’t be worried at all, for evolution is being taught as you want. You should be able to sit back and enjoy all the new innovation!
So again, name an invention—name just one that would not be possible if a scientist didn’t believe in molecules-to-man evolution! And as I said, don’t come up with something that has to do with observational science conducted in the present that we can all agree on—evolutionist or creationist—as we observe it.

Missionary Endeavors Down Under
A personal friend and AiG supporter, John Cook, recently donated an airplane he had for 36 years to be used for missionary work in my homeland of Australia. He said the following:
I was an AOPA member all those years of being a pilot. I dropped my membership when I gave the plane to JAARS [formerly known as “Jungle Aviation and Radio Service”]. Membership was expensive, plus I sort of hated to read about flying if I wasn’t going to be flying anymore. Giving away my airplane and admitting I was no longer going to fly was one of the hardest things I’ve had to do. But knowing it was going to the Lord’s work eased the pain.
The project has been fully funded now, except for some incidentals. The pilot is preparing to move to Australia, and is in training for his new ministry, and in supplemental training for the particular airplane. The airplane will be based in Darwin. Missionary Aviation Fellowship (MAF) is partnering with JAARS to allow them to reassemble the plane at their facility at Gove Airport a short distance from Nhulunbuy in East Arnhem Land, Northern Territory, Australia by JAARS mechanics who will fly over to do the work. That’s also one of the areas the missionary will be flying to and from Darwin.
The plane is being shipped to Cairns—the Aussie town where I was born.
Notice the irony. This plane—owned by a creationist—is heading off to a town named after Charles Darwin!
We praise the Lord for the way he uses different people at different times in various ways to proclaim the gospel around the world.
John, we pray the Lord will use this airplane to reach many for him.
John Elliott Visits AiG
AiG staff recently really enjoyed a visit by well-known Christian musician John Elliott. John led the staff in a time of praise through his music. John has been one of the featured musicians at a number of AiG conferences, and he has become a special friend of our ministry.
Here are some photos of John as he ministered to the staff in Legacy Hall. He played our donated grand piano.
You can find out more about the music of John Elliott at his website.

Peter Enns Responds with “Ken Ham Clubs Baby Seals”
Recently I wrote a blog post in response to a blog post by Peter Enns.
In his blog post he made it clear that Genesis 1–11 should be read as a legend—just like the legends such as the Sumerian “Epic of Gilgamesh.”
His emphasis was on having an “adult” reading of Genesis. He implied that if children read Genesis and believe it, they later will have a crisis of faith when they are told it is just another legend and not literal history. Enns contends that the church and Christian institutions need to be ready to deal with this so they can help these young people get rid of their childish ways understanding of Genesis.
I therefore made the heading to my blog response “Peter Enns Wants Children to Reject Genesis.” I stand by my heading. Keep in mind that Peter Enns has published articles and books and given presentations available on video making it very clear he rejects a literal Adam, Eve, and a literal Fall. He proposes that “Adam” is a metaphor for Israel.
Enns certainly does not want your children to believe in a literal Genesis—in fact he doesn’t want anyone to believe in a literal Genesis. I and others at AiG have previously written items about Peter Enns and his biblically destructive teaching. Here are links to just three of them:
The Enns Justifies the Means?
Did Jesus Tell a Lie?
Was Jesus Wrong? Peter Enns Says, “Yes”
Well, Peter Enns certainly took objection to my most recent response to his continuing attack on the clarity and authority of the Word of God in Genesis. Here are some excerpts from the response he wrote, which is titled “‘Ken Ham Clubs Baby Seals’ (or, it may be time for him to rethink his ministry strategy).”
He states the following:
For Ham, the gospel hangs in the balance, and any disagreement with him is de facto a disagreement with the Bible and God himself. You are, therefore, “the enemy.” Gray is not a color on his rhetorical palette.
Given his well-publicized track record, I think it is fair to ask whether in Ham’s universe it is possible, (1) to be Christian, and (2) disagree with him on Genesis. Sadly, I suspect not.
But if in Ham’s mind is it actually possible to be a follower of Jesus AND disagree with him on Genesis, I would suggest that his engagement of his Christian opponents be more shaped by his acknowledgment of their shared Christians bond.
Enns doesn’t understand (or if he does, he is evading) that the issue is one of authority! His is the typical, “let’s get on with each other in a shared Christian bond—and agree to disagree” approach. No, we need to understand that, even if he thinks he has good intentions, what Enns is doing is destructive to Christianity because he is deliberately undermining the clear teaching of the Word of God and thereby undermining its authority.
As I was researching the internet to write this blog post, I came across a secular site that posted a link to the blog post by Peter Enns with this comment (interesting how the secularists love to use such posts like this one of Peter Enns against us).
It sums up what I’ve been saying about Ken Ham for a long, long time. He cannot accept that other people have different opinions to him and is a bully boy. Sadly, many like the simple, hardline message he sends out. “I’m right, everyone else is wrong.”
I find that there are many others in the church that react the same way. Think about it. If I were to write that one must believe in the literal physical Resurrection of Jesus Christ and the Virgin Birth, many in the church would agree and stand with me. They would not allow others to say that Christians should permit differing opinions—such as that the Resurrection might not have been a real physical one, or that the Incarnation was not a true virgin birth. But as soon as people like those of us at AiG take a similar stand on a literal Genesis, we are condemned for being opinionated, hardline, and bullying, and we are exhorted that we need to change and allow other opinions. I suspect Peter Enns would not react the same way he has over our ardent stand on a literal Resurrection and Virgin Birth as he has done over our stand on Genesis. Why is this? It is because in this era of history, a person is considered by most scientists to be antiacademic, anti-intellectual, and antiscience if he takes a stand on a literal Genesis believing in a young earth, six literal days, a literal Adam and Eve, and literal Fall.
Peter Enns wants me to consider his view of Genesis a possible valid one! But it is not! And of course he won’t accept what I teach concerning a literal Adam and Eve and a literal Fall. If I said it is a possibility there could be a literal Adam and Eve and a literal Fall but Peter Enns has an interesting position that could be right, he would relish that. But I would never say such a thing as I will never knowingly compromise God’s Word! That doesn’t mean I believe I am 100 percent perfect in my understanding of everything in the Bible—no one is! But in this case, the situation is very clear. Enns does not get his view from Scripture but from outside of Scripture, and he is deliberately forcing ideas on to God’s Word and deliberately changing God’s Word to fit.
Enns states the following in his book The Evolution of Adam (published by an arm of Baker Book House):
Evolution demands that the special creation of the first Adam as described in the Bible is not literally historical.
On the contrary, the Bible (God’s holy, pure Word) demands that evolution is not true! Enns put his faith and trust in the fallible beliefs of finite, fallible, sinful humans instead of the Word of the infinite, infallible, sinless Creator God! And he reinterprets God’s Word to fit man’s fallible words instead of judging man’s words by God’s inerrant Word.
Enns also implies something to misrepresent our views at Answers in Genesis—we have repeatedly said that a person can be saved while holding an unbiblical view of Genesis, yet Enns is really misleading his readers on this point.
And he can say what he wants about me, but God has put that fire in my bones to call such people like Enns away from this shocking compromise he is trying to infiltrate the church with and challenge him to get back to taking God at His Word.
In some ways, academics like Enns remind me of the Gnostics. Please don’t misunderstand me; I am not calling him a Gnostic, but like the Gnostics, he has this “special knowledge” so to speak. And all those nonacademics (and academics) in the church need to trust him with this “special knowledge” he has to share about not taking Genesis as history and not believing in a literal Adam and Eve and a literal Fall. He has this innovative idea of Adam being a metaphor for Israel. “Trust me, I’m an academic,” he is saying, “I know more than you—I have this special knowledge to share.” It is clear academic pride. He does need to humble himself as a child and repent of this before a holy God.
Jesus spoke of religious leaders of His day when he said, “for they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God” (John 12:43).
He goes on,
One need only read the title of his recent post to see the problem, “Peter Enns Wants Children to Reject Genesis.” What I say in my post is that adults should not read Genesis like children do. That, I think, is a rather different point, not a subtle difference. But Ham’s “Enns wants to harm your children as he clubs baby seals.”
But what does Enns want to do? He wants your children to grow up and realize they can’t believe Genesis as a child would—taking it as a real historic account. So he does want your children to reject Genesis—he wants them to become “adult,” as he calls it, by reading Genesis as a myth. He recognizes this will be a crisis for them at some stage, but they will have to come to grips with it. Enns does not believe in a literal Adam and Eve and does not believe in a literal Fall—and that is what he is teaching—so he does want your children to believe (or really disbelieve Genesis) as he does!
And why do I respond the way I do to such shocking biblical undermining articles as those Enns writes? Because Scripture commands all believers, and especially Christian leaders:
“Beloved, while I was very diligent to write to you concerning our common salvation, I found it necessary to write to you exhorting you to contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints.” (Jude 1:3)
“holding fast the faithful word as he has been taught, that he may be able, by sound doctrine, both to exhort and convict those who contradict.” (Titus 1:9)
“Hold fast the pattern of sound words which you have heard from me, in faith and love which are in Christ Jesus” (2 Timothy 1:13)
“These were more fair-minded than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness, and searched the Scriptures daily to find out whether these things were so.” (Acts 17:11)
“‘Woe to the shepherds who destroy and scatter the sheep of My pasture!’ says the Lord.” (Jeremiah 23:1)
“My brethren, let not many of you become teachers, knowing that we shall receive a stricter judgment.” (James 3:1)
“For there must also be factions among you, that those who are approved may be recognized among you.” (1 Corinthians 11:19)
“Every word of God is pure; He is a shield to those who put their trust in Him.” (Proverbs 30:5)
“Do not add to His words, Lest He rebuke you, and you be found a liar.” (Proverbs 30:6)
“It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man.” (Psalm 118:8)
And what about the headline Enns used: “Ken Ham Clubs Baby Seals”?
Enns may think I have made an outrageous accusation against him, so he satirically makes one against me. However, the title seems to imply that I am heartless and angry! Well, I do admit a particular type of anger—the same sort of anger Nehemiah had when he saw the injustices being committed and that people weren’t obeying God’s Word as they should. It was a righteous anger to do something about the situation to challenge people to do what is right according to the Word of the Lord.
“And I became very angry when I heard their outcry and these words” (Nehemiah 5:6). I pray we will all rise up with the righteous anger of Nehemiah in response to the way God’s Word is being shockingly treated today (as it is by people like Peter Enns). Certainly we should never have a heartless anger as implied by the heading of Enns regarding baby seals—but a righteous anger to turn people away from compromise back to the “pure words” of our Lord.
And I do have a sincere heart for our “baby seals” (our children). The Bible gives dire warnings about leading children astray. I also think about the apostle John in his old age writing in 1 John, where he calls Christians “little children.” I don’t want to see “little children” have a crisis of faith because of the false teachings of people like Peter Enns.
And we are warned over and over again in the Bible that there will be people within the church who will bring false teaching to drag us away from the truth. Both Peter Enns and I will stand before the Lord one day to give account of what we taught the “little children.” I pray I will have been found faithful to the Word of God in what I taught, given the enormous responsibility and therefore accountability of a teacher, as James 3:1 says: “My brethren, let not many of you become teachers, knowing that we shall receive a stricter judgment.”
You can read this new response from Peter Enns at this link.
Thanks for stopping by and thanks for praying,
Ken
