Job hopping was once all the rage, but the days of big salary increases from switching careers might be over
Just a few years ago, Gen Zers were scoring $50,000 payday boosts by jumping from job to job. Today, they’re holding onto their positions for dear life.
This month, the global organizational consultancy firm Korn Ferry declared that we’ve entered a nationwide era of “job hugging,” a term to describe the trend of workers increasingly holding onto their positions for dear life amid economic uncertainty, layoffs, and AI disruption.

Quiet firing is spreading, but there are business risks to tactics to push workers out
Businesses looking to cut jobs don’t want to do it through layoffs, but stricter RTO rules and other tactics are pushing workers out.

Data now suggests employer use of that indirect quiet-firing manner of reducing head count is far more widespread than previously suspected — and often involves tactics that go beyond ordering people back to their desks.
Smarter AI is supercharging battery innovation
How ‘physics-informed’ AI is changing the game.
The global race for better batteries has never been more intense. Electric vehicles, drones, and next-generation aircraft all depend on high-performance energy storage—yet the traditional approach to battery R&D is struggling to keep pace with demand.
How ‘good cause’ eviction laws aim to protect renters from eviction
From Maryland to California, the growing movement requires landlords to base eviction notices on more than just a whim.

One month he accidentally left his rent check on his refrigerator and left. He called the property manager, who told him it wouldn’t be a problem as long as he gave her the check when he returned and paid a $25 late fee, all of which he did.

Pick up an August 2025 issue of Vogue, and you’ll come across an advertisement for the brand Guess featuring a stunning model. Yet tucked away in small print is a startling admission: She isn’t real. She was generated entirely by AI.
Why your brand needs an enemy
The companies that break through today aren’t the ones avoiding conflict. They’re the ones brave enough to pick a side and fight for it.
Most business advice tells you to avoid making enemies. I’m here to tell you the opposite: if your brand doesn’t have an enemy, you’re doing it wrong.
This underused strategy can help with well-being
You’ve heard plenty of solutions for stress from meditation to yoga, the list is long. But according to a sociologist, this one rarely makes the list and it should.
You’ve heard plenty of solutions for stress. From meditation and nature walks to cold therapy and yoga, the list is long. But a less well-known strategy can deliver some powerful results: storytelling. In fact, there is evidence that storytelling is good for your mental health and well-being for multiple reasons.
