Infographic: 20 Years Of Controversy Over Depictions Of The Prophet Muhammad

To put the Charlie Hebdo tragedy in historical context, Co.Design created an infographic depicting 20 years of Prophet controversies.

The massacre at the offices of French satirical newspaper Charlie Hebdo, which killed 12 people last week, was allegedly Al-Qaeda's response to cartoons the newspaper had published. The tragedy is only the most recent in a series of violent or controversial episodes surrounding depictions of the Prophet Muhammad in the past few decades.

As part of its successful attempt to win the United States Olympic Committee bid to host the 2024 Olympics, Boston has gotten itself a new logo. It's clean, inoffensive, and not much to write home about, except for one thing: the mysterious beacon symbol to the left of Boston 2024.

H.P. Lovecraft's Weird Fiction Has Inspired A Line Of Beer

The Rhode Island-based brewer tries to answer a simple question: what would Cthulhu drink?

Based out of Rhode Island, the Narragansett Brewing Company is perhaps most strongly associated with Jaws, thanks to its prominent placement in the 1975 classic. But now Narragansett is teaming up with a number of New England-based artists to design beer cans celebrating another underwater monster with strong links to Rhode Island: the tentacle-faced Elder God, Cthulhu. Or perhaps more accurately, Cthulhu's daddy—famed horror writer H.P. Lovecraft.
