1. Has Anyone Checked to See if Glenn Beck is Still on the Air?

In light of the Keith Olbermann news (that he's out at MSNBC), we might want to check to see if Glenn Beck is still on Fox News. After all, the lefties had a boycott of him going to try to get him canned.

Oh.

What's that you say?

Glenn Beck is still on the schedule?

Oh. Okay. Thanks for letting me know.

As far as Olbermann goes, we should note that he was not actually fired. It was a mutual decision. We should also note that for all the "climate of hate rhetoric" out there, Olbermann was on MSNBC for eight years. Glenn Beck has only been on Fox since 2008 and even Olbermann's own compatriot Rachel Maddow says Beck wasn't as the left claims he is until he went to Fox.

2. How To Repeal ObamaCare

To listen to the liberal media, you would think conservatives had won the first and only battle on ObamaCare repeal –- but already lost the war.

The Washington Post, echoing the almost universal media theme (including Fox), called the vote "largely symbolic." Over and over again, we have been told that ObamaCare will never be repealed and we are wasting our time to even think about it.

And, incidentally, the stupid Republicans reinforce this theme when they concede at the beginning of each interview that they are too flaccid and ineffectual to prevail. Compare this to the "We will win!" mantra Obama used to pass ObamaCare in the first place.

Ironically, we are probably only about four Senate votes short of sending the repeal bill to Obama's desk in the 112TH Congress. And, if Republicans have the courage to tack repeal onto the debt limit or continuing resolution, even without those four votes, the House will have the capacity to present Obama with a choice:

sign the ObamaCare repeal; or
shut down the administration's rulemaking powers for the next two years.

3. People's Republic of China Mocks the President (and Us)

The PRC had one of their pet pianists play an anti-American, Korean War-inspired ditty (did you know that we're jackals? Did you also know that Marxists are incompetent buffoons who can't feed themselves, or the countries that they manage to control?) at the White House state dinner without the administration twigging to that fact. And it wasn't really an accident, either. Supposedly, everybody in the PRC with a television set (under different circumstances I could have written that out as 'everybody in Taiwan,' but then Taiwan is a First World nation, while the PRC is a Third World one with nukes) was tipped the wink to watch ahead of time. Got to love the professionals running the US Government these days, huh?

4. The Assassination Attempt You Have Not Heard Of

The American Thinker brings us word of an attempted assassination you probably have never heard of.

It happened in September of 2010 in Missouri. A 22 year old named Casey Brezik, wearing a bullet proof vest, charged toward Missouri's Democratic Governor Jay Nixon with a knife and attempted to slash his throat.

In light of the media's race to talk about the right's climate of hateful rhetoric, you have probably guessed by now that Casey Brezik was an anti-Christian, anti-capitalist leftist who participated in a number of leftwing protests. He was also a diagnosed paranoid schizophrenic.

Luckily for all involved, Brezik was high on pot at the time and got confused. Instead of slashing the Governor's throat, he slashed the throat of a community college dean he took for the Governor.

5. The Oil Spill Commissioner's Anti-Oil Bias

Former Democratic Senator Bob Graham of Florida is co-chair of the President's Oil Spill Commission. The Commission, stacked with environmentalists and Harvard lawyers and notably absent any working industry expertise, delivered its report to the President earlier this month. Its contents were predictable, calling for more regulation and more government.

6. Democrats Quickly Pivot to 2012, SEIU-Obama Aide Moves to DNC to Oversee OfA

Having written about the SEIU's other man in the White House, Patrick Gaspard, on numerous occasions, this news comes as no surprise.

Following the November election, the Democrats are moving quickly to ensure that a repeat "shellacking" doesn't happen in 2012. In so doing, the DNC is tapping Gaspard, the former political director of New York's powerful SEIU 1199, to go help the DNC prepare the Democrats' strategy.

In Clarifying His Remarks, Steve Cohen Compares Mike Pence to "Goebbels"

Steve Cohen went on MSNBC to get praise from Ed Schultz for calling the GOP Nazis or some such thing. But there's a bit of the interview, seen here that has largely gone unnoticed.

At the end of the interview, Cohen says this:

"I think Mike Pence said he often wants to be concise, careful, and consistent. Well that's someone who I'll never mention again who lived in the previous century who worked for bad people. That's what he did."

Ed Schultz, naturally, agrees.

Jeffrey Immelt to Lead a 'Jobs Committee'?

The President of the United States is doing what liberals do best — creating a committee to figure out why his liberal policies aren't creating jobs.

Who is he putting in charge? Jeffrey Immelt, the CEO of GE, also known as Keith Olbermann's boss.

Since Mr. Immelt took over GE, we've seen its financial business bailed out by the federal government, its total number of workers decline, and its stock underperform the Dow and S&P 500 by 60%.

In other words, Mr. Obama wants to put in charge of job creation a man who has done his level best to contribute to high unemployment of the middle class, while subsidizing failed leftwing pundits at MSNBC.

For specifics, by the way, Immelt has reduced GE's employment by 20% over nine years and, most hysterically, he's sold off lots of its union run pieces. Can't blame him for that!

4. Kermit Gosnell and Roe v. Wade: Something Evil This Way Came

5. Progressives Love, Love, LOVE Unions… (For Everyone But Themselves)

1. No Republican Should Sit Next to Rep. Steve Cohen

In 2009 we were entering into a post-partisan world filled with the promise of ending the bickering and getting down to the business of running the world's greatest economy.

Unfortunately, it turned out that the new President's idea of the country's "business" was a government takeover of healthcare, suing sovereign states for wanting to be sovereign, circumventing the Congress to appoint powerful czars in charge of entire industries, and weakening our national defense, among many other things that threw the new era of post-partisanship in peril.

To say that the dialogue went downhill would be an understatement of astronomical proportions.

Please click here for the rest of the post.

2. Glenn Beck Did Not Tell His Audience To Shoot Anybody

Patterico notes a meme being rapidly spread by left-wing bloggers: that Glenn Beck told his viewers to shoot Democratic Members of Congress in the head. This is, sadly, the kind of thing the left-blogs try to put over on their readers, hoping it will stick quickly before the facts can come out. But I would not advise doing that while the likes of Patterico are on the case.

Here's the actual transcript that Patterico links to, and as you can see, you'd need to be illiterate to fall for the spin being put on this. After a lengthy diatribe about the growing danger to Democrats posed by hard-core radicals and Communists in their own coalition, Beck conclude . . .

Please click here for the rest of the post.

3. Santorum Analogy is No Gaffe

The most remarkable thing about Rick Santorum's comparison of abortion and slavery is the mainstream media's initial reaction treating it as a gaffe. That reaction reflects the intellectual smugness that has made "mainstream media" a bad word in much of America.

The analogy between the slavery debate in the 19th century and the abortion debate in modern times is a solid one because both centered on 1) who to include in the definition of "human," and 2) whether the ultimate moral decision should be legislated or left to individuals. Despite the similarities, well-meaning people are free to reject the abortion-slavery analogy given that there is no longer any disagreement that slavery was a moral outrage.

However, to refuse to see the similarities and, instead, view the analogy as ignorant is to contemptuously dismiss the half of America that considers abortion to be the taking of a human life and a moral outrage. You don't have to share the moral judgment of pro-life Americans, but to dismiss their values as unworthy of serious consideration is the very definition of smugness.

Please click here for the rest of the post.

4. Kermit Gosnell and Roe v. Wade: Something Evil This Way Came

Yesterday it was reported that Kermit Gosnell, an abortionist, was arrested and charged with eight counts of murder. He was charged with the murder of babies who were fully delivered; he induced labor, delivered the babies and then stuck a scissors in the back of their necks and mercilessly killed them. Their first breath, was also their last. Lacking even the dignity of a human touch; no one holding their tiny, innocent hand coursing with life's blood, as that life left their tiny bodies. Eyes opening, trying to focus for the first time and trustingly seek out the security of the face belonging to the voice they'd heard for many months inside the womb. Struggling to survive, as the will to live is strong, even in the most tiny and vulnerable.

He was not charged with the murders of babies he killed the same way - earning $1.8 million in one year alone for doing so - only inside the womb.

5. Progressives Love, Love, LOVE Unions… (For Everyone But Themselves)

There is something untoward—almost indecent—in listening to liberal-speak*. To hear them talk, liberals progressives love, Love LOVE unions. In fact, if it weren't for unions out beating on doors and pounding the pavement every election cycle to get Democrats elected, most progressives would be relegated to the fringes of society to sit on street corners eating alfalfa sprouts and blogging about vegan pee.

However, when their Pavlovian unions-are-man's-best-friend rhetoric comes to pay a visit on their own fire hydrants, progressives come unhinged. You see, all too often, they feel unions are great for everyone else…just not them.

In the meantime, from the mailbag:

I watched your snarky yuck fest on CNn with Paul" forehead" Begala as you both attacked Sarah Palin. Interesting that you on the Right are so ready and willing to throw this woman under the bus.

This woman, who has more balls than most of the so-called Republican/Conservative men is VICIOUSLY atacked day after day and when she defends herself-they go after her AGAIN. Now the arrogant elitists on the Right have joined in.

What I saw on CNN with those two was sickening. Erickson is now not only irrelevent to me, but a PIG as well.

1. Repeal is Real

2. Paul Ryan slices and dices Obamacare.

3. Could Offshore Drilling Reduce the Deficit?

4. Marsha Blackburn declares war

5. The Return of the Lunch Bunch

———————————————————————-

1. Repeal is Real

As its first major act, the new Republican majority in the House of Representatives voted today on a bill promising the complete repeal of Obamacare. The bill passed with a unanimous Republican vote along with the support of 3 House Democrats, proving that the demand to repeal Obamacare is a real, bipartisan fight that will lead to a serious debate in the Senate.

While many have tried to downplay the vote as merely symbolic, it is far more important than that: repeal is real. I believe that repeal is achievable, and in fact likely, because the American people want and expect it. The new class of Republicans campaigned on repeal in this election, and we intend to hold each and every one of them accountable to their own promises.

From here, we need to keep in mind that while this is the first giant step in the right direction, this fight is far from over. From here we must continue to build momentum and push Harry Reid to bring it to a vote in the Senate. Ultimately, we will push forward until this is on the desk of President Obama.

Please click here for the rest of the post.

2. Paul Ryan slices and dices Obamacare.

You know, the Democratic party is probably really regretting not targeting Paul Ryan's seat last quarter. Not that it would have actually worked, but at least they could have told themselves that they tried to avert events like these.

Please click here for the rest of the post.

3. Could Offshore Drilling Reduce the Deficit?

Sen. David Vitter (R-La.) wants the Obama administration to provide Congress with data on the federal government's offshore drilling revenue — information that would show just how much President Obama's anti-drilling policies are impacting the budget.

Based on recent projections from the U.S. Energy Information Administration, production in the Gulf of Mexico is expected to drop this year by 220,000 barrels per day. With oil currently at $90 a barrel and the government's royalty rate at 18.75 percent, that equals $3.7 million in lost federal revenue each day.

Please click here for the rest of the post.

4. Marsha Blackburn declares war

Marsha Blackburn, Republican of Tennessee, has put out a two pronged announcement of what America needs conservatives to achieve when it comes to the the Internet, new technologies, and the regulation of them all. It's fun to watch just how strong she's come out on these critical issues.

First she had a very well-written piece in the Washington Times explaining how the Internet and related tech issues have gone from a "niche in public policy" to being essential "to keep America free and prosperous." She gives a great overview of the problems with the FCC and Net Neutrality, then goes on to explain how she, Fred Upton, and other Republicans can do something about it. It's worth a read, or a link, if you ever need a summary of where we stand today.

The big story though came the next day, when she gave the keynote address to the State of the Net conference held by the Congressional Internet Caucus advisory committee. That's where she drew the line, bright and clear.

Please click here for the rest of the post.

5. The Return of the Lunch Bunch

That didn't take long. Charlie Bass and other Republican "moderates" are already polluting the new House Republican majority.

In yesterday's Washington Post, Bass—the former head of the Republican Main Street Partnership, which is made up of typically economically and socially liberal Republicans—attempts to balance out the perception that the freshmen are all conservative. He guesses that up to 50 of them will attend Tuesday Group meetings. The Tuesday Group, or the "Lunch Bunch" as it used to be called, is the Congressional sister organization to the Main Street Partnership, and if Bass is correct about the attendance numbers, that is a horrifying sign of things to come.

Obama Hears A Hu — The Erick Erickson Show

It's 9:00 p.m. I encourage you to tune to WSB 750AM. If you can't pick it up there, go to http://wsbradio.com. At the top of the show at 9:06 p.m. we'll be going straight to Washington for coverage of "Kowtow to Chicoms 2011″ including a reading of "Obama Hears a Hu" written by our own Caleb Howe.

You won't want to miss that.

You can also call in at 1-800-WSB-TALK.

Consider this an open thread.

Edit: text of the "poem" below the fold. - Caleb

This afternoon, Erick asked if anyone wanted to try to come up with a parody of Horton Hears A Who for his radio show tonight. Below is what I came up with. (Be kind, it was very short notice.)

Obama Hears A Hu

On the nineteenth of Jan, in the swampy press pool

In the heat of DC, stood a donkey and tool.

There was flashing from cameras and much other noise

For the donkey, exactly the noise he enjoys.

First they talked and they talked, and it was quite a scene

And informative truth was the world keen to glean.

"Let me,' said the donkey, "be perfectly clear,"

And his grin crossed his face from his ear to his ear

He talked about partners, and cars and our debts

He spoke on our exports and even on threats.

"As we look to the future," he began to conclude,

then for seven more minutes he cooed and he cooed.

The donkey, Obama, sort of mentioned Tibet

(but not very strongly, or China would fret.)

Then he joked about weather, and wrapped up his speech,

And he turned to the tool, for they each had a speech.

And who was the tool but a Hu, goodness me!

A Hu who rules China! Oh fiddle dee dee!

The Hu wasn't zestful, but rather quite dull

And his speech, as for data, was practically null.

He said that Obama and he disagreed

(an obvious outcome I hope you'll concede)

He said a few things about China, "It's great!"

For reporters his words were a plate full of bait.

Then a time came for questions, up first: Human rights.

And the donkey, he answered, devoid of sound bytes.

The Hu, as a Hu will, ignored the whole thing

And looked for a question without as much sting.

In Beijing if you sting they may just wring your neck

But Americans, we tend to frown on Hu dreck.

They asked Hu again, about rights violations

Hu tried to escape it with verbal gyrations.

In the end much was asked, without many answers

The tool and the donkey, they're both quite good dancers.
