Too Attached @ Massey Hall
Tonight, two brown kids from Millwoods are playing at MASSEY HALL. Grateful to Tegan and Sara for making this dream I didn’t dare to dream come true. Grateful to Shamik for being my partner in music and in family. Grateful to all of my friends who have come to music shows over the past 14 years–back to the WEM foodcourt and Sugar Bowl–especially those who believed in my voice and the possibility of a music career, before I did. Grateful to still be making music in a country where making music as a brown, trans, queer artist, to quote my friend Casey Nicole Mecija, is “a difficult project.” Grateful to any of YOU who have purchased any of my albums–from Throat to Bronze. Forever grateful, especially tonight.
