The fuck you in all this self-promotion and affirmation is silent, but there’s a lot of fuck yous being passed around.

"That one has me fooled," Smith said. "There's no way he does that with a piece of thread."

“This is why I hate you fuckers,” he said. “All you do is beg that we make a movie, then you complain about everything that’s made.”

"At its most utopian, the digital revolution opens up a new dematerialized, deauthored, and unmarketable reality of collective culture,” she writes. “At its worst, it signals the impending obsolescence of visual art itself.”

High-speed chases look like fun because they are.

Kimberly

The other day I began playing with Photoshop Touch for iPad, and was thoroughly impressed with how much you can do with the $10 app. It's almost as good as full photoshop, and I don't mean that pejoratively. If things like numbers aren't your thing and you just want to mess with photos in fun ways, there's not much it can't do.

There was a kick ass photo I reblogged on Tumblr a few days ago, and I couldn't help but use it as inspiration. Kim can be found on Twitter here and thankfully she seemed pretty cool with me manipulating the shot. Here are a few of my results, using just the one app:

Windows Phone Connector Bug

If you've got a Windows Phone and a Mac (hello all 3 of you!), and you've been having troubles lately, I think I figured out why.

About two weeks ago, I found my Windows Phone Connector freezing up, failing syncing, and other issues. Uninstalling and reinstalling failed to do the trick, so I did a little A/B testing with the preferences and found a weak point.

First up, if you're having issues, you have to uninstall. However, you have to thoroughly uninstall, preferences and all, which means you'll need Appcleaner, a free app that kills off all related files when you uninstall. Drag the WPC app into Appcleaner, and it'll look like this:

Appcleaner is awesome

Reinstall, and it should work okay. But it's important you don't click something in settings. Leave "Sync music information from the Zune service" turned OFF, and you shouldn't have any other problems.

The downside here is that the Zune information made the Music and Videos app a lot more colourful, filling up backgrounds with band photos, links, and other fun stuff. But, hey, a spartan look beats total crashing any day.

iPod Shuffle Review (4th gen, 2011 version, purchased from a Source for a little bit less money than the new one)

3rd gen on the left, 4th on the right

I bought the one that's available today because my old one stopped working (Yes, I realize my complaints about the 3rd gen iPod don't work with the new headphones. But literally a day after writing the article it started giving me the five-orange-blinks-of-doom, and that was that).

The new (well, current model, about to be replaced by the exact same thing just with different colours) iPod shuffle has half the storage capacity of the third gen, uses a wider form factor, and has 6 more buttons on it. To top it off, the buttons on the iPod headphones don't work with it (it's possible mine just don't work. I looked online and found very few people complaining). The headphones that came with it are a solid 6 inches shorter than the last set.

With the 3rd-gen Shuffle, if you wanted to listen to podcasts, you maneuvered the menu to "podcasts", and they would play in order. Tap twice, and it would go from one podcast episode to another. With the new shuffle, each podcast acts as its own playlist, so once one is done, it just repeats until you pick another. Terrific.

On the plus side, I can use whatever headphones I want. Also, genius mixes. I guess that's cool? Whatever. I already like it less.

We bought Kate Beaton a drink after her kick ass show

Kate then drew us a sketch. We loved it. Here it is:
