today is international asexuality day!
on this day, we celebrate those that are under the ace umbrella, including demisexual, gray-asexual, and all kinds of other ace identities.
asexuality is the lack of sexual attraction to others, or low or absent interest in or desire for sexual activity.
asexuality is valid. asexuality exists.
if you are an allosexual person, check in with your friends that are in the ace spectrum today! let them know you are with them every step of the way. and educate those who do not know what asexuality is.
and for us in the spectrum, let’s use this day to celebrate our identity! we are in this together, let’s not lose the community spirit. we have enough love for everyone.

LOCKDOWN
or,
The Ballad Of Con Air
-at the start of the Lockdown last year I took part, briefly, in an writers group-
-one of the first prompts was to write something short that was a personal response to the pandemic-
-I produced this, and pretty much gave up-
-I have not seen this film in, I dunno, twenty years?-
-this poem is dedicated to Nic, John and all the gang-
-please get out of my head-
Cyrus the virus was a very bad man but a very bad man with a plan.
He wanted to escape and do it as a jape so he made a deal with a drug running-clan
He boarded a plane all loaded down with chain with a dozen other inmates and some bulls
They flew into the sky but a hijacking was nigh and next thing it all goes to hell.
The undercover guy gets done cause Colm gave him a gun and Nic goes looking for a rabbit
There’s a fight in the hold, with muscles well-oiled and it looks like it’s going to be a habit
The have a inconvenient dead guy so they drop him from the sky like the airplane is just springing leaks
He splats on the roof of an angry old goof played by the Major from Twin Peaks
The plane lands in a desert where the weather’s always clement and the convicts are a happy clappy crew
But of course there’s double crosses since you can’t trust drug dealing bosses and that shiny jet won’t hold more than one or two
So naturally there’s shooting and some kicking and some booting and the drug guys take a lot of flack
Then Cyrus sets the jet to blow while they walk off in slow-mo with the coolest of them never looking back
Dirty angel Nic tries to do good with his kicks and the wind blowing through his lustrous mane
Cyrus thinks he’s foxy because he shows off lots of moxy but how long can he play the double game?
Things start to come a cropper while they’re shooting at a chopper and Swamp Things says they’ll have to hit the tar
The nearest place that’s safest is apparently Las Vegas and a street that’s full of lights and cars
The red lights all start flashing there’s screaming and there’s crashing and a not insignificant amount of collateral damage
Now there’s lots of shooting and probably some looting and everybody’s running round the wreckage
Be sure to thank your pilot who couldn’t fly a toilet but who crashes just in time for the film’s ending
But hold on, hang on tight, there’s room for one more fight only this time on the back of a fire engine.
In the chaos and the smoke John and Colm share a joke because this stupid mess is mostly all their doing
Nic’s going home to his daughter, with the convicts caught or slaughtered except that creepy little serial-murder goon
So in these days of the nasty virus let’s all remember Cyrus who violently refused to isolate
He’d be out there still infected if Nic hadn’t interjected and also flying’s very adverse for the climate.
