Dutch Treat
Here's another seasonal sales offering for my readers overseas -- this time for my fans in the Netherlands, or anyone who reads Dutch.
I have a few extra copies of the two-volume Dutch hardcover of A STORM OF SWORDS, published by Luitingh. They're big books and take up a lot of room on the shelf, so I'm selling.
Collectors take note: these are NOT the first Dutch editions of STORM. Those were trade paperbacks. (I have a couple extra sets of those as well, and yes, I'll part with them. If you're prefer the paperback to the hardcover, inquire, and I'll quote you a price.).
I've been offering the set on my website for $55, but now, while the supply lasts, I will slash that to $42 for the two volumes. The supply won't last long, though. As always, I'd be glad to sign and inscribe the books. As always, it's first come, first served.
The special price includes book rate/ media mail shipping within the US. Order via PayPal to direwolf@georgerrmartin.com.
Priority mail and overseas shipping will be extra; inquire of my assistant Ty at grrmbooks@gmail.com for a quote on that. (Depends on where you live). These are big, heavy books, so be advised that airmail shipping to Europe will not be cheap.

Tuf Selling
In my continuing effort to clear my shelves of some of the extra author's copies that have piled up over the years, here's another special.
This week I am offering the Meisha Merlin trade hardcover of TUF VOYAGING.
Collectors should note: this is not a first edition. TUF VOYAGING was originally published back in 1985 by Baen Books, and that hardcover is the first. But this is definitelly a nicer edition. Published in 2003, the Meisha Merlin hardcover features a gorgeous cover by Michael Komarck, and interior art by Janet Aulisio, THE definitive Tuf artist, who illustrated many of the Tuf stories when they were first published in ANALOG. Eight of Janet's original ANALOG interiors are reprinted herein, along with 28 new drawings commissioned specially for this volume.
Meisha Merlin originally sold their trade hardcover of TUF VOYAGING at $30. I have been offering copies at $29 on my website. But FOR ONE WEEK ONLY, I'll cut that price to $24.
As always, I'd be glad to sign and inscribe the book. As always, it's first come, first served.
The special $24 price includes book rate/ media mail shipping within the US. Order via PayPal to direwolf@georgerrmartin.com.
Priority mail and overseas shipping will be extra; inquire of my assistant Ty at grrmbooks@gmail.com for a quote on that. (Depends on where you live).

Hot Young Writers of 1977
In my continuing effort to clear my shelves of some of the extra author's copies that have piled up over the years, here's another special.
This week I am offering the trade paperback of THE JOHN W. CAPMBELL AWARDS, VOLUME 5, the last published volume in my "New Voices" series of original anthologies featuring work by the finalists for the John W. Campbell Award, honoring the best new writers in the field. If you're ever wondered who were regarded as the best new SF and fantasy writers of 1977, well, here they are: Jack Chalker, C.J. Cherryh, M.A. Foster, and Carter Scholz. Cherryh (the winner) contributes a novella, the other nominees original novelettes. There's also a preface by me, an introduction by Poul Anderson, a list of finalists and winners for the first ten years of the award, and a gorgeous Richard Powers cover.
JWC5 was published in January, 1984 by Bluejay Books. There was another volume, THE JOHN W. CAMPBELL AWARDS, VOLUME 6, but it exists only in bound galleys, since Bluejay folded before it was published. So this is the last 'New Voices' book. It was originally published at $7.95. I have been offering these at $13. For this special, I'll slash that to $9.99, so long as the (very limited) supply lasts.
As always, I'd be glad to sign and inscribe the book. As always, it's first come, first served. I have only eight (8) copies for sale.
The $9.99 price includes book rate/ media mail shipping within the US. Order via PayPal to direwolf@georgerrmartin.com.

Swords for Korea
I am drowning in books here. Even with two houses (one with a library tower) and two storage lockers, I've run out of places to put all the various copies of all the various editions of all my various titles that have accumulated over the years... and new ones are arriving all the time, demanding shelf space. So between now and the end of the year, I am going to slash some prices and offer some specials on many of my older books, to make room for the new ones.
Thusfar I've run sales on FEVRE DREAM, NIGHTFLYERS, and TUF VOYAGING. All of them older, English-language editions. Time to offer some of my non-English-speaking readers a book. I'll start with Korea... and offer the two-volume Korean hardcover edition of A STORM OF SWORDS.
This edition was published in 2005 by UnHangNaMu Publishing. They are truly massive hardcover bug-squashers, nicely made, with sewn-in ribbon bookmarks. Some of the dustjackets show edge wear and small tears and frays, however, so they are not pristine.
Of course I'll be glad to sign and personally inscribe the books.
My price for the two-volume set has been $45. To clear some shelf space, I'll now offer them at $39, for as long as the supply lasts. Which won't be long. I only have about six or seven extra sets of these remaining.
The special $39 price includes book rate/ media mail shipping within the US. Order via PayPal to direwolf@georgerrmartin.com.
Priority mail and overseas shipping will be extra; inquire of my assistant Ty at grrmbooks@gmail.com for a quote on that. (Depends on where you live).
(I also have a few copies of A FEAST FOR CROWS as a hardcover set, and three sets of A CLASH OF KINGS as a four-volume trade paperback. Alas, no extra copies of the Korean GAME OF THRONES in either format).
As usual, it will be first come, first served for these.

Whew!
The Giants win another one... but just barely, by the skin of their teeth, and against the lowly winless Dolphins (sorry, Janice, but your new owner was a fool to let the Tuna go).
Winning these close games certainly beats losing these close games, but just once I'd like to see the G-Men blow out one of these supposedly "weaker" teams, so I don't have to gnaw my knuckles in the final minute of the game, as the clock winds down. Parris keeps threatening to buy one of those home defibrollators. Maybe she should. One of these weeks the Giants or Jets are going to kill me, I swear.
Anyway, Eli looked great this week, as did his WRs. Good games from Manningham and Nicks, and this new tight end, Ballard, is making me forget all about Kevin Boss. And Victor Cruz... that kid's a keeper. Great catch and run today for the winning score.
On the other hand, the running game looked awful, especially when Ahmed Bradshaw went out. I know Brandon Jacobs is just coming off an injury, but boy, did he look bad out there today. I breathed a huge sigh of relief when Ahmed came back in. The defense sputtered badly in the first half, letting the Fins convert one third and long after another, but they stepped it up second half, shutting down the Miami O. And once the G-Men finally took the lead they turned into the Big Blue defense I remember. Great play by Corey Webster as CB, and of course the pass rush remains outstanding.
So now the Giants are 5-2, solidly in the lead in the NFC East. I wish I could say I feel optimistic about their chances going forward, but I don't. They've been winning, but not nearly as convincingly as I'd like, just barely squeaking by against one weak team after another (and LOSING to the Seahawks!) And Miami was the last soft spot on their schedule. Next week they enter their midseason meatgrinder. If they want to keep winning, they are really going to need to step it up... not just one notch, but three or four.

All Hallows Sale

So between now and the end of the year, I am going to slash some prices and offer some specials on many of my older books, to make room for the new ones.
I sold off my stock of the old Poseidon Press remainders of FEVRE DREAM in my first offering, and the Bluejay trade paperbacks of my collection NIGHTFLYERS in my second. Third time around, I'm going upscale, and offering copies of the Meisha Merlin signed, numbered limited edition of my Haviland Tuf collection, TUF VOYAGING.
Collectors should note: this is not a first edition. TUF VOYAGING was originally published back in 1985 by Baen Books, and that hardcover is the first. But this is definitely the nicest edition. Published in 2003, the Meisha Merlin hardcover was limited to 52 lettered and 448 numbered copies. The lettered copies were sold out on publication; these are numbered copies that I'm offering.
They feature a gorgeous cover by Michael Komarck, and interior art by Janet Aulisio, THE definitive Tuf artist, who illustrated many of the Tuf stories when they were first published in ANALOG. Eight of Janet's original ANALOG interiors are reprinted herein, along with 28 new drawings commissioned specially for this volume. Janet Aulisio's ANALOG cover painting for "Manna from Heaven" is also included, as a full color frontiespiece.
The book comes in a classy slipcase, and includes autographs from both artists, Komarck and Aulisio, as well as yours truly. And of course I'll be glad to add a personal inscription upon request.
I've been selling these limited TUFs for $140 for my website. As a Halloween special, I'm reducing that price to $110, from now through the witching hour of All Hallows. On All Saints Day, the carriage turns back into a pumpkin and the price goes back to $140... if I have any copies left. As with FEVRE DREAM and NIGHTFLYERS, my supply is limited.
The special $110 price includes book rate/ media mail shipping within the US. Orde rvia PayPal to direwolf@georgerrmartin.com.

Wild Cards Optioned for Film
Great news for Wild Cards fans! We have just closed a deal with SyFy Films, a brand new joint venture of Universal Pictures and the SyFy Channel, for film and television rights to the Wild Cards series of mosaic novels and shared world anthologies.
You can read all the details in THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER, here:
http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/game-of-thrones-george-rr-martin-wild-cards-254382
The plan is to begin with a Wild Cards feature film, for theatrical release. If that's successful, more features and a television series may follow.
Melinda Snodgrass will write the screenplay. Part of the series since the very start, Melinda has been my assistant editor on most volumes of Wild Cards, and is the creator of many of the series most popular and iconic characters, including Dr. Tachyon and Double Helix. Snod will also serve as an executive producer on the film, as will I.
Further details will need to wait until we're a little further along in development, but I think I speak for all the writers in the Wild Cards Consortium, both new and old, when I say that we're jazzed. We look forward to working with Gregory Noveck and his great team at SyFy Films, and to bringing some of your favorite Wild Cards characters to the screen.

Autographs for Texas
Just returned from a quick two-day trip to Dallas, where I flew in to address a national conference of managers from the Hastings bookstore chain. Great fun. The Hastings folks were wonderful hosts, and have done a terrific job of selling my books. A whole bunch of them told me that the midnight launches of A DANCE WITH DRAGONS back in July were a huge success.
No public appearances were on my calendar this trip, but since I don't get to Texas very often these days, I did make sure I did some stock signings for my neglected Dallas readers. So if you're looking for a copy defaced with my illegible scrawl, you will find some at the Barnes & Noble stores at Preston Royal, Lincoln Park, and Los Colinas... for as long as the supply lasts.
I did not, alas, make it to the B&N in Denton, where back in 1996 I had my traumatic encounter with Clifford, the Big Red Dog.
