Now available: “Legends of New Pulp Fiction”

Legends of New Pulp Fiction by Fred Adams Jr. Now here’s a bit of good news for the holiday season! After what seems like a long journey (but was, in fact, an amazing sprint), Airship 27 has just released its benefit mega-anthology, Legends of New Pulp Fiction!

With one hundred contributors (62 authors + 38 illustrators), this has to be the biggest, boldest slab of New Pulp ever produced, spanning the genre spectrum from action to horror to crime to sci-fi. And it’s all in honor of Tommy Hancock, Editor in Chief at Pro Se Press.

When word came down this summer that Tommy was facing a serious health issue, fellow publisher Ron Fortier stepped up to rally the community. The response, as you can see, was overwhelming (for the full story, see Ron's blog post). All proceeds will go to aid Tommy and his family through his recovery.

Many of the biggest names in New Pulp added contributions, and I’m proud to be in such esteemed company. My story, “Came a Demon,” re-introduces the occult detective character Bartholomew Sylvaine in an episode from 1901. I had a blast writing it and will definitely spend some more time exploring Sylvaine’s strange career in the coming year.

But for now, I can’t wait to read this thing myself! 62 stories! 776 pages! Woo-hoo! It's a merry Christmas indeed.

Recently posted on the Evernote Blog

Every writer has been there: the words are inside you, trying to get out, but life is in the way. Maybe you can’t find any time in your busy schedule. Or you can’t stay focused when you sit down to write. Or you have a great writing session one day, and then your work in progress sits neglected for weeks.

Whether you’re writing a novel, maintaining a blog, or keeping a journal, the answers to these problems are mostly the same. Writing is like exercise: adopt a sensible training regimen, apply it consistently, and you’ll grow stronger. But it’s also like meditation: open your inner doors, let go of distractions, and you’ll become more centered. In both cases, the keys are discipline and focus.

With that in mind, here are ten simple techniques you can use to keep yourself in the writing zone…
