I remember a mass consumer society pelted with television ads

*You digital-native kids, you whippersnappers wouldn't know anything about that.

*Incredible social transformation here. American TV going broke because nobody buys TV ads any more. It goes without saying that nobody watches them, but nobody *buys* them. It's like watching the Cold War ending.

Augmented Reality Flashlight

*Fraunhofer design-school work in Munchen.

*I've got a soft spot for projected augments. Why do augments have to stay stuck on your eyeballs or perched inside your hand? It's like using some yuppie iPod when you could irritate everybody with a screeching boombox.

The Information Visualization Manifesto

*It's the sign of a successful manifesto when somebody throws it over the transom and then everybody starts yelling.

*If you are in or near the infoviz scene, I suggest you have a look at this pronto.

"… the company will embed the tags into knee and hip replacements and use them to alert patients to any product-related concerns.

"Prior to shipping prosthetic parts, Implanet embeds an RFID tag with the device model, serial number and latest info enclosed. Prior to surgery, the hospital scans the tag and IBM's WebSphere Sensor Events software uploads the information to a server. Patients are then given the tag
