The bank-card hackers and their army of cashers
*Twenty-something guys from Tallin, Petersburg and Chisinau. I wonder if they ever met physically or even knew each other's real names.

"According to the indictment, Tsurikov conducted reconnaissance of the RBS network after Covelin provided him with information about vulnerabilities in the system. Pleshchuk and Covelin then worked on exploiting the vulnerabilities to obtain access on November 4. Pleschuk allegedly developed the method ...
Store your laptop gypsies in the Trampery
*There must be a lot of people doing this "co-working" schtick, but to see it worked out with all this British solemnity, and in London's "Silicon Roundabout" no less… Talk about "precarious labor." This takes the crumpet.
*On the other hand, I could probably use a place like this. I rather imagine a lot of people could. Do you see the thematic resemblance to the favela "half house" in the earlier post? The "squelette" and the "stuffed animal" — Gothic High-Tech and Favela Chic, not so...

"Elemental's contribution to the canon of social housing came from an almost impossible question. In 2003 Aravena was asked to house 100 families in Iquique, a city in northern Chile, with just $7,500 per family in government subsidies to buy the land and build the houses. "We tested ...
Analog circle-packing
*Kind of a Processing in-joke as interior decor, yet it looks eminently cheap and practical. Really packs the chic into Favela Chic. via @generatorx

Building new life forms at the iGEM Jamboree
*I hope these bio-geek Brits are this perky about it when the Martian terraforming bacteria escape and red goo eats the Earth.

With the dashboard's electronic clock marking 2am, the car careered through the Complexo da Coréia, one of the city's largest and most notorious slums, home to around 60,000 Brazilians and the HQ of one of the city's three main drug factions, the Pure Third Command.
What would happen if we ran into the police? "They would open ...
