Beyond the Mirror now available!
In addition to Poisoned Pearls being 35% off today at Kobobooks, I have other NEWS.
Beyond the Mirror, Volume 3: Alternate Worlds is now available!
The Blurb:
Come with us as we explore Alternate Worlds, places where Science and Fiction intersect. See how the past could have changed, how the present might be greater than you imagine, or how different futures could unfold. Return to the dieselpunk pulp era to adventure against the fascists. Go to war with the Red Army heavy tanks. Hide in the shadows of the Gods. Travel across the stars and the future, to uncover lost secrets from the distant past.
From the author:
One and Two were pure fantasy. In this volume, I wanted to branch out and do other things. As I grow in my craft, I have other stories that need telling, other places I have visited, other dreams to dream.
Speculative (read: Science) Fiction lets you go almost anywhere and explore how the worlds might be different. Here I wanted to do the same. The results were dieselpunk, time travel, lots of alternate history, literary fiction, and space opera. I like them. I hope you will as well.
All of the stories in Beyond the Mirror, Volume 3: Alternate Worlds are also available for sale, individually.
I know, I know. Generally books are published on Tuesdays. But since this is Cyber Monday, we thought we’d make an exception.

New short stories available and WOW
If you go over to the Knotted Road Press new releases page, you’ll see FOUR authors there.
Four.
Myself.
Blaze Ward.
Nancy Kasmar.
Terry Brodbeck Ward.
And now, there’s about to be a fifth.
Rose Leighton, a writer who specializes in literary erotica, has joined KRP. She has three stories now available.
The Festival of Sands–I never thought High Priestess Udyati would chose me to be her stand in for the Festival of Sands. But I could never be as motionless as she desired. What further training, punishment and rewards, could she give me to inspire my complete obedience?
Fetish Turtle–Mark wants to please his girlfriend. He finds an odd turtle at a craft fair that he plans on gifting her with. But things aren’t always as they seem.
The Perfect Shot–Horace loves the finer things: espresso ristretto, good chocolate, expensive wine. But Horace lives also alone. When Horace’s brother arranges a “date” for Horace’s birthday, Horace has to decide if he’s going to take this one perfect shot at companionship or not.
Find them at your favorite retailer or at Knotted Road Press.
FYI – Knotted Road Press has signed a sixth writer, and has sent contracts to a seventh.
So many new great things are coming in 2015.
I can’t wait.

Past Crime now available!
The Fiction River anthology series is starting off its second year with Past Crime.
And I have a story in it!
New World Gambles is historic mystery that takes place in 1830 or so, in Victoria, BC, during the building of the Canadian Pacific Railroad.
Here’s the description of the anthology:
Laws change from culture to culture, decade to decade. Strange laws make criminals of ordinary citizens. Like the Massachusetts woman whose brother asks her for help, slave hunters at his heels. Or the Chinese immigrant who finds himself in the middle of a crooked game of Fan Tan. Or the Native American detective searching New York’s Stonewall Bar for a ratfink on the night of a world-changing riot. These stories and more prove that once again, Fiction River’s crime volumes have, in the words of Ellery Queen Mystery Magazine, “high quality throughout.”
(My story is one of those mentioned in the blurb, about Fan Tan. And my name is listed on the cover. Can I just say SQUEEEE????)
If you really like historic crime stories, there’s also a special Kobo edition that contains even more stories!
I’m really excited to be part of these anthologies. The stories in them are outstanding.

Streak!
No, I’m not advocating taking off all your clothing and running around like a crazy thing. (Though I’m not saying don’t do it either, if that’s your kind of thing…)
I’ve started keeping track of a writing streak.
I started counting Tuesday October 14th. So a little over a month, now.
I’ve written at least 250 words every day since then. I’ve been to a workshop and a con and I still wrote. I’ve been tired. My kitty was sick. I still wrote.
It wasn’t 1000 words a day. That would have set me up for failure. But 250 I can manage.
Every day.
I plan on continuing this streak for years. Decades, if possible.
How about you?

The Changeling Troll is now available!
I’m so excited! My next novel is available! Wheee!
Here’s the blurb:
A different kind of ugly duckling story.
Christine works at her dream job in the archives at a university library, loses sleep most every night to reading, lives mostly in her dreams. But can’t find what she’s really looking for.
After losing a bet with her brother, Christine forces herself to go to a bar. Listen to some live music.
Live a little.
When she meets the impossible–her exact twin–her world starts falling apart until all Hell breaks loose.
Literally.
Available for $4.99 as an ebook, $12.95 as a trade paperback from Createspace.

Growing Up on the Carnival now available!
Knotted Road Press, my publishing company, is proud to announce a new author joining the press, Terry Brodbeck Ward.
Terry’s debut book is an autobiography.
“When I was growing up, I thought all children spent their childhood living on a carnival. It wasn’t until I was taking an English class in college that I realized my early years were unique.”
This charming narrative recounts a time in American history that we’ve lost—when traveling carnivals were a small town’s primary form of entertainment, and one girl’s memories as a third generation of a family carnival company.
Available from your favorite retailers.
