I’m really happy to have a story up today at Ben Tanzer’s This Zine Will Change Your Life.
Read it here.
Everything Ben puts his effort into can change your life, especially his own writing. So he agreed to publish this quirky little story of mine, and I couldn’t be more grateful. To see more of what Ben’s doing to change the world, visit his home base This Blog Will Change Your Life. He has a lot of good going on.

New review of Brown Bottle at Prick of the Spindle
[image error]
To less regard and acclaim than I would have liked, my novel Brown Bottle was published earlier this year. Some of that falls on me, for sure. I battled some fairly intense issues concerning my alcoholism right around that period of time and wasn’t “here” as much as I should have been. I still owe a big apology to my publisher in that regard. However, there have been a handful of reviews filter out since that time and I’m happy to say another can now be added to that small list.
Critic Andrew T. Powers reviewed the book today at Prick of the Spindle and I’m most grateful for what he has to say and, as always, eternally grateful to editor-in-chief Cynthia Reeser for her ongoing support of my writing.

“Straw” published today at Spelk Fiction
[image error]
I’m grateful to Spelk Fiction editor Gary Duncan for publishing my short story “Straw” at Spelk today. I’ve long wanted to have my work appear there and can finally check that one off the list. If you’ve not read Spelk or haven’t had the chance to read a great deal of the journal, I can’t recommend it highly enough. Gary is always publishing flash fiction of the highest quality. Read my story here.

A short story called “Poor Road Trip” I co-wrote with my friend and poet extraordinaire Peter Schwartz was published at Nailed Magazine today. “The Wolf and Two Rabbits” published at Fair Folk
I’m pleased to have a new short story published at the journal Fair Folk. New and Forthcoming Stories, The Revenge
I have new work in the December issue of Gravel. Of course I know what the story is themed around, but I’m not going to say outright because a lot of people who have read it have seen it in a lot of different ways. It’s called “Yara on the Night of Her Tenth Wedding Anniversary” and I hope you visit and read it. Also, check out the rest of the issue. It’s really very full of short stories, poetry, creative nonfiction, reviews, and more.
Here are some other stories that are forthcoming from journals I really love and a new one that will surely be often read:
“Poor Road Trip” @ Nailed – This is a story I co-wrote with my friend poet Peter Schwartz.
“Straw” @ Spelk
“Cloud to Ground” @ Unbroken Journal
“The Wolf and Two Rabbits” @ Fair Folk

My Journey to Planet Write: Schizo (See Also: Writer)
Gay Degani has a segment at her website Words in Place that’s called Journey to Planet Write. It lets writers focus on the thing writers love to focus on most: writing. She invited me to write an installment and I was happy to oblige. There’s a picture of my baby dog Peen reading my novel. Thanks Gay for being cool with that, by the way. Also there’s a picture of me with dirty blue jean knees and mushroom 70s hair from 1982. It’s all pretty golden, to be honest. Follow the link below to have a look.

New story “The Fittest” published today at Five:2:One Magazine
I can’t overstate how pleased I am to have my story “The Fittest” appear today in Five:2:One Magazine. I’ve long been a fan of the magazine and am seriously honored to now have my work published there. And editor-in-chief Nathan Alan Schwartz even prompted me to send a video recording of myself reading the story. Should you like to watch the video please do understand two things 1) I have a heavy accent and 2) Having a heavy accent makes me nervous. Please do be kind.
