GOOD, GOOD FATHER

TODAY’S PROPHETIC THOUGHT

I Am the Father you are My sons and daughters. I have adopted you into My family and My blessings. By instructing, leading and influencing, you also will have spiritual children.

WHO’S YOUR DADDY?

Most everybody has kids. Now, before you say, “But Pastor Troy, I’ve never been married,” let me tell you this: sons and daughters are not just biological. Sons and daughters are how you influence people. Hallelujah.

That’s part of your supernatural heritage – your bloodline. Your bloodline is not just natural. Your bloodline is also supernatural. Check out what brother Paul says about this:

“To Timothy, a true son in the faith.” – 1 Timothy 1:2

Paul saw Timothy as his son though he did not biologically father him. Somehow, Paul left his supernatural DNA on that boy’s thinking and Timothy was something else!

For you, maybe it’s that coworker or the young couple next door. Is there someone in your life who looks to you for spiritual advice? Maybe they look to you as an example? Sometimes, it may even be someone we had no idea was watching us that closely.

It could be you are not the ‘parent’ but the child. Is there a more mature believer in your church who you look up to spiritually? We all have spiritual children and spiritual parents. The only blood relation is the blood of Christ. Jesus even said,

“For whoever does the will of My Father in heaven is My brother and sister and mother.” – Matthew 12:59

Christ also instructed to pray, “Our’Father.” So, it really is a family affair. If you are a believer in Christ, we are family and of the same bloodline. We share the same spiritual DNA so you know the answer to this question: Who’s your daddy?

ARE YOU WILLING TO SAY “AMEN?”

TODAY’S PROPHETIC THOUGHT

Before you were born, I spoke a purpose into your life. Do you see it? When you seek, you will find. When you knock, I’ll open the door to all I have for you and tell you, “Yes.” Are you willing to say, “Amen”?

SAY, “AMEN!”

Your life is really a big deal and it needs to be lived well. God is trusting you to live a life that He has paid for you to live so don’t squander that gift.

There’s a big difference between an epic life and a nominal life. Epic means “heroic, majestic, impressively great.” Nominal means “existing in name only, very small.” What’s real is, it’s up to you if your walk with Jesus is epic or if it is nominal.

It’s up to you – not anybody else – if you have the kind of walk with Jesus that provokes people to jealousy. They should see your blessed life and say, “What do they have that I don’t?”

On the flip side, you can also be the kind of Christian that causes people to hate Christianity. It’s up to you, that’s not up to anybody else.

“Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.” – Luke 6:38

This verse says that it’s not up to God, it’s up to you to determine how much of the kingdom you get into your life. God has already said, “Yes,” and your job is to say, “Amen.” The Bible says that the promises of God are “yes and amen.”

Amen means “let it be established” or “make this thing happen!” It’s a big deal to tell the Lord “Amen” and it comes with all kinds of blessing and upgrade that are, well, epic. Are you ready to shake the nominal? AMEN!

ARE YOU SEEKING AFTER JESUS?

TODAY’S PROPHETIC THOUGHT

When I came the first time, the priests and Pharisees were offended. I was not what they thought. I did not act how they assumed and I did not shower them with praise and attention they thought they deserved. They missed my salvation and my blessings. Will you?

JESUS, BARS AND BROTHELS

Seeking means “to pursue until you see.” That means you don’t give up. You know what causes you to give up? Offense.

“But Pastor Troy, you don’t understand! I did this, and God didn’t do that in return so I quit seeking Him.”

Oh, I understand perfectly. True seekers qualify for finding because the only way you can continue to seek is if you can get past your offense.

“But, PT, Jesus wouldn’t offend me.” Oh, yes. Yes, He will.

What is all that about? It’s all about a method. What if Jesus shows up in a different way than you thought He was going to? Can you deal with the offense of that? Because He will.

Jesus Christ will show up in your life and lead you to a place you were not expecting to go. He’ll show up in a way you did not expect Him to show up and He will do something you didn’t even know Jesus does. You have to be able to deal with the offense of that.

My friends, we have a tendency to put God in a box and say, “God would never….” or “Jesus always…” That’s ludicrous! Jesus goes into prisons, bars and brothels.

When He doesn’t jump through your hoops, fit the mold or meet your holier than thou criteria, are you going to get offended, stop seeking and walk away? Many do. But that’s not you. You are a seeker and you will find. You will know and the door will be opened.

The discretion of a man makes him slow to anger, and his glory is to overlook an offense. – Proverbs 19:11

THE WORD BECAME FLESH

TODAY’S PROPHETIC THOUGHT

Though the natural children of Abraham are a stiff-necked people, they are My people. Just like a headstrong child, I love them and see their great potential. Just like that, I see your purpose for the Kingdom. Testify to Me to Jew and Gentile.

THE WORD BECAME FLESH

I love that before He took on flesh and became the Son of God, Jesus’ name in heaven was “The Word” as in “the Word became flesh and dwelt among us.” That Word spoke time, space and matter into existence and is also testified to by the Word – the Bible.

“Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life; and they are they which testify of me.” – John 5:39

Jesus is telling His disciples and you to get to know the Bible, not because there’s life in the Bible but because “the Bible testifies of Me and there’s life in Me.”

The guy who started the whole Bible is a guy by the name of Moses. We look at Moses very differently than our Jewish brothers and sisters do. Because of this, I want to just encourage you as a gentile, which I am, to look into the Jewish customs and perspective.

Why? Because so many Jewish things are not just Jewish things – they’re Kingdom things.

Well, how come the Jews don’t get it that Jesus is the Messiah they’ve been waiting for? Because they’re the only nation in the world that obeys the Lord, that’s why. They do it with such fervor and conviction that they were busy living the letter of the law instead of looking for the Lord.

So, don’t be mad at them. By the way, as a Christian, you are also a child of Abraham. You and I rotten old bacon-eating Gentiles are his supernatural seed – the “stars of the sky.” The Jews are his natural children or the “sands of the seashore.”

My friends, pray for your Jewish brothers and sisters, that they would recognize their long-awaited Messiah, King Jesus. Pray for the peace of Jerusalem. I don’t mean the absence of conflict. I’m talking about the presence of the Prince of Peace ruling and reigning in the hearts of the Jews.

Pray that the scriptures testify of Jesus to His covenant people today and every day.

DOES JESUS OFFEND YOU?

TODAY’S PROPHETIC THOUGHT

I always speak in love and I always speak in truth. When you read My word and are offended, look at yourself first. There is no wicked way in Me. Is there any in you?

JESUS IS OFFENSIVE

I don’t know if we’ve ever lived in a day where people get so offended so fast over things that really don’t matter as we live in today.

Well, let me tell you, they would have been extremely offended by Jesus. As a matter of fact, He still offends them today because He calls their behavior sin. Because He tells them to repent and live a different way. People don’t like that.

“Pastor Troy, I love me some Jesus and He would never offend me.” You may think that now, but wait until Jesus doesn’t show up when or how you expect Him to. Wait until He tells you to go somewhere that isn’t pretty to help somebody that you don’t think deserves it. Oh, Jesus will offend you.

He will tell you to love people whom it is offensive to love just like He did to Jonah. Why does God do that? Because He loves them and wants you to meet Him in that place of loving the unlovable. If you are highly opinionated on the matter, you’re going to stop seeking.

You and I get offended and we stop seeking Him. We either think He wants too much out of us or we fall back on the classic, “I tried that Jesus thing once and it didn’t work for me.”

I want to just tell you, there’s a very offensive side of Jesus. It’s just outright offensive how He’ll show up and tell you to be a giver when you’re broke or tell you that you’re called to the nations, but you barely have the means to catch the bus to Shreveport.

It’s outright offensive that He’ll wake you up at three in the morning and tell you to seek Him. My friend, if you can’t get past the offense, just go back to sleep and miss the most important upgrades of your life.

Do you see yourself here? If you do, repent! Grow a thick skin and say, “Jesus, you can show up when you want, how you want and send me anywhere you want to anyone you want. I don’t deserve your love and mercy but you’ve given it to me because of who you are – not because of what I’ve done.”

Become un-offendable and see where Jesus will take you. It’ll be the adventure of a lifetime, I promise you that.

A brother offended is harder to win than a strong city, And contentions are like the bars of a castle. – Proverbs 18:19

WHO ARE YOU?

TODAY’S PROPHETIC THOUGHT

The love between the Son and I is the greatest love in the universe. We have offered it to you. Stand in-between us and experience what it is to see yourself as full, complete, perfect and whole.

A PRETTY GREAT PLACE TO BE

We love everybody and we don’t judge or condemn. In a place like that, it’s very easy to slip into the doors and not have your lifestyle upgraded. Jesus wants to upgrade your lifestyle, He doesn’t want you to live in bondage. We’re not pointing fingers, it’s an invitation to walk into a greater upgrade.

“I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.” – Galatians 2:20

How can a sinner just all of a sudden stop all the things that they’ve done? Simple. They died. What?!?

They finally died to sin. They believe what they read here in Galatians 2:20. They have died and Christ is now living through them. That’s First Love.

First Love is discovering who you really are – your true identity. You cannot uncover who you are until you walk in that position between the Father and the Son. It’s the place where they begin to tell you who you are.

If you try to figure out who you are in your own wisdom, you’ll get it all backward and upside down. You need to be able to hear the Father’s heart as He speaks into you. Go to Jesus to find out who you are in Him. Look at His character and know the Father sees you through the lens of Jesus. That’s a pretty great place to be

JESUS IS THE BREAD OF LIFE

TODAY’S PROPHETIC THOUGHT

From the beginning, I Am. I will be until the end of your time and I will continue to be in eternity where I always have been. I know the end from the beginning. Trust My prophesies. I speak to My people and I reveal My ways. Are you listening?

LEAVEN OR BREAD?

Most babies do not have any control over the circumstances of their birth – when they’re born, who they’re born to, the real estate they’re born on. They don’t know the condition of the world they’re born into. But Jesus was no normal baby. He was God Almighty in flesh form.

Today, I want to talk about the prophecy of where the Messiah would be born. The book of Micah makes some things pretty clear.

“But you Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of you shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting.” – Micah 5:2

This prophecy, written about 700 years before Jesus’ birth, eliminates all other cities and towns where the Messiah would be born. That means if anyone rose up and said they were the Messiah but weren’t born in Bethlehem, they were disqualified.

My friends, Bethlehem literally means “House of Bread.” Jesus calls Himself the “Bread of Life” in John 6:35 and promises all who believe in Him shall never hunger or thirst. In contrast to that, we are to beware the “bread” the enemy offers.

Then Jesus said unto them, “Take heed and beware the leaven of the Pharisees.” – Matthew 16:6

He’s saying that the bread the High Priests and religious leaders of the day offer – manmade rules – leads to death. That’s still true today!

Remember in the Exodus story how the children of Israel were told to eat unleavened bread during the first Passover? Still to this day, the Jews rid their house of any leaven during the Feast of passover because it is synonymous with the sin of lying.

See the connection? Even during the time of Moses, God was prophesying about the place Jesus would be born and the times He would live in. My friends, Jesus is the “Bread of Life” born in the “House of Bread.”

This speaks of our day as well. Beware the leaven of religion that wants to replace life with death and freedom with manmade rules. Feast on the Word of Jesus – your daily bread – and have abundant life.

CHOOSE TO BREAK THE CHAIN

TODAY’S PROPHETIC THOUGHT

I Am a loving God but I will not force you to love Me. I have given you the ability to choose for yourself. You do not become a part of My kingdom because your parents were. It’s personal. Come and sit. Let’s talk a while.

CHOOSE TO BREAK THE CHAIN

The choices between life or death that we make in covenant with God do not just affect us. They also affect our children and our grandchildren.

“I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live.” – Deuteronomy 30:19

Walking with God is about the collateral blessing. Look, we all know about collateral damage and we all know about generational curses. Generational curses are real and you need to learn how to throw a wrench into that mess.

Know this: You do not have to be subject to the curse passed down to you. This whole thing of people saying, “I was born this way,” or, “I was born that way,” is baloney. You don’t have to be a slave to that thing.

What’s real is Jesus Christ paid an amazing price for you to tap into His bloodline and His bloodline is clean and holy. It gives you an identity that says, “You are clean and you are holy.”

As adults, we are in a small way the product of how we were raised. Parents or other adults trained us how to think and what to believe. But there comes a time, my friend, when you need to evaluate your belief system and decide for yourself what you believe and why.

Statistically, those raised in a Christian home are more likely to have a relationship with God. Kids who grew up seeing their father pray with the family as well as alone have more a chance of doing it themselves.

On the flip side, if alcoholism runs in your family or dad had several lady friends, it’s likely you were never taught that was wrong and ‘poof’ – you’re living with a generational curse. To say, “That’s just how I was raised” is a cop-out!

Grow up. Find out what you believe. What kind of legacy will you hand down to your children and grandchildren? Choose to break the chain with the blood of Jesus.

BEWARE BLIND GUIDES

TODAY’S PROPHETIC THOUGHT

Beware the leaven of the Pharisees. One offense taken up and planted in your heart will produce a huge harvest of weeds. Seek first My Kingdom and My righteousness for I Am Truth and I will never chain you through offense.

BEWARE BLIND GUIDES

People who are offended want you to be offended too. They do. I see it all the time. Misery loves company so those with an ax to grind don’t want to grind it all alone.

Why? Because they need to justify their bad behavior. If they can get you to join the mob they’re forming, they can point to you and say, “See! They are on my side so I must be right.” That fuels their fire to continue forming a bigger mob.

Jesus is never in the mob.

And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. – John 8:32

People get offended over all kinds of things. Before you jump on their bandwagon, start picketing or campaigning against someone on social media, ask yourself, “Do I know this is the truth or am I just taking up someone else’s offense?”

Remember, it’s not the truth that sets you free from being used for someone else’s retribution. It’s knowing the truth that will keep you from taking sides with what the Bible calls “blind guides” – people who cannot see the truth because they are blinded by offense.

“Every plant that My Heavenly Father has not planted will be pulled up by the roots. Leave them; they are blind guides. If a blind man leads a blind man, both will fall into the pit.” – Matthew 15:13

A blind guide is a dangerous ally. Avoid them. Don’t get on their bandwagon. Don’t let their offense become your offense. Seek out the truth and be free from those who don’t want to end up in the pit all alone.

A brother offended is harder to win than a strong city, And contentions are like the bars of a castle. – Proverbs 18:19

BLESSINGS OR CURSES?

TODAY’S PROPHETIC THOUGHT

I Am not a man that could lie. I Am true to My Word. In the Old Testament, curses were passed down because there was no redemption. When My beloved Son came, that changed. He purchased redemption for all of you. Come to Me and be set free.

BLESSINGS OR CURSES?

Make no mistake, many curses come from your bloodline. Where there’s a curse in your family history, I guarantee it’s because there is no redemption. Redemption removes the curse. Here are some examples:

“…you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me…” – Exodus 20:5

Iniquities are generational curse passed down because of a word spoken against someone or an inner vow being made – akin to saying, “I will never,” “I cannot,” “I won’t.” When you say things like this, you’re taking the future out of God’s hands. Now, He can’t use you in that situation because you refuse to be used.

Now, here’s an understanding of a blessing that is generational because there is redemption,

“…but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments.” – Exodus 20:6

This is a curse where there is no redemption:

“Our fathers sinned and are no more, but we bear their iniquities.” – Lamentation 5:7

Here’s an example of where it’s right and there is redemption:

“You show lovingkindness to thousands, and repay the iniquity of the fathers into the bosom of their children after them—the Great, the Mighty God, whose name is the Lord of hosts.” – Jeremiah 32:18

What’s real is, both of these things are happening at the same time. There is a curse being passed down and there is also a blessing depending upon which side of the Cross you live on. You and I need to be determined, right here, right now, that we’re going to live on the Promised Land side of the Cross and not the Egyptian side of the Cross. Amen.

That as Christians, you and I get to live out something that blesses us and blesses everything behind us. Christ purchased redemption for all on the cross. Break the chains that bind so you too can be free.
