My March #Uppercase box arrived
thanks to the generosity of Lynn Postlewait, and it looks fun! I love getting a signed hardcover YA novel in the mail and book goodies! This shipment included Rayne & Delilah’s Midnight Matinee by Jeff Zentner that is recommended by Rainbow Rowell, an Obstinate Headstrong Girl necklace, and bookish, writerly nail wraps that look like they are on lined paper which I think is adorable. Bookish fun! I read the first page and it pulled me in, always a good sign.

I am so excited: I signed with literary agent Jennifer Wills at the Seymour Agency! (beaming)
I am not just excited about getting an agent, I am excited about getting to work with HER!
Getting the right agent for you is important, and I really clicked with Jennifer. I felt so comfortable with and good about her. She loves and is excited about my new manuscript (and my other books), is warm, smart, and funny. She’s also kind, honest, and responsive, gives editorial feedback, likes dark and edgy books like mine, and loves diversity including #LGBTQIA characters. I really connected with her and am so excited to work with her!
I know many of you are waiting for a new book of mine to come out, and this is one step closer to that happening. A literary agent can get a writer’s book into publishers that a writer can’t get into on their own. But the publishing industry is slow, and the next step is for Jennifer to give me editorial feedback, then I edit and give it back to her, then we’ll see if there are more edits to do, and that’s all before she even sends the manuscript out to editors at publishing houses. So it may be a while. But know that I am working on it, and if you love SCARS I think you are going to love this new book.

I’m reading CROWN OF FEATHERS by Nicki Pau Preto which I am still LOVING so much,
with my little Petal who is such a snugglebug. Strong, smart girl characters, magic and animal telepathy, a queer romance, cultural diversity – and beautifully, engagingly written.
Peta has pancreatitis again – it seems to becoming chronic – so any positive energy for her is welcomed.
