A number of teen readers have messaged me lately in distress, feeling that they don’t matter, that their lives don’t matter. I know that feeling well – but please remember that you matter, that your life has worth, and that things will get better. It may not feel like it right now, but it will. But you have to be here to see it get better.<br /><br />If you are feeling suicidal or like hurting yourself, please reach out to crisis lines, and please read my Reasons Not To Kill Yourself. I have been there so many times because of the trauma from the torture and abuse. But despair and depression can pass, and the effects of trauma can lessen, and things get better. I am grateful that I am here now, and you can be, too. She is such a sweetie.<br /><br />And yes, I framed the positive message greeting card because it makes me feel so good to see, and is such a good reminder – every time I see it I’m taking in the message. I hope you have reminders like that, too. I think they help.
