Soda vs. Pop: What Do You Call It?
Linguistics have always fascinated me. Why does the phrase "ya'll" roll off of my friend from Atlanta's tongue, but forced and awkward coming from mine? I just can't get away with it, and instead opt for the more formal, drawn out "you all" like most of my other New York counterparts. Similarly, why do I refer to a long sandwich as a sub when my friends just an hour or two south say hoagie or grinder?

2 Tests to See if Your Sports Bra Needs to Be Replaced
Sports bras do not last forever. Here’s how to tell if the ones in your drawer need to be replaced: The Stretch Test: If you pull on the straps or the bottom band and there’s no pull back or stretch, it’s time to invest in a new one. The Size Test: Stack two sports bras on top of each other—preferably one [...]

Floating House via Dwell.com
How could I resist sharing this post from our friends at Dwell.com. This one of a kind floating house is owned by Doug and Becca Worple and located on Lake Huron. It’s actually connected to an island by it’s very own footbridge, and, of course, guests can only arrive by boat to the lower level of the home. Check out the full slideshow here—you will not be disappointed! [...]

A *Good* Story About an Airline
It seems like most of the news (not to mention tweets and facebook status updates) about airlines these days is negative. So, I was happy to read this story about an airline that held a plane for a passenger on his way to see his ill mother before she passed away. The passenger’s first flight was delayed and he would [...]

Do You Do Your Own Taxes?
This weekend I’ve blocked off Sunday to finally get my taxes DONE. I’m embarrassed to admit that this is only the second year that I’ve prepared my own taxes. In the past my family’s accountant graciously tacked on my paperwork for a small fee. But last year I was cut off. For those of you considering doing your own the [...]

Vote for Your Favorite Jewelry Designs
Crowd-sourced jewelry may sound a little confusing, but it’s the genius idea behind the website Shopbevel.com, which helps emerging jewelry designers find a place to sell, and provides a wide selection for shoppers at very reasonable prices. Designers (or anyone, for that matter) can submit original designs to the site, which are then posted and voted on by the community [...]

New Use for Empty Wine Bottles
I love the look of this simple glass planter made from an empty wine bottle. The best part is that it’s incredibly simple to make. All you need to do is remove the label and cut the bottle in half. For instructions on how to do that, visit HomeMade Modern (they even have a video showing you how to do [...]

Wednesday Trivia: It’s National Peanut Butter Month!
In honor of National Peanut Butter Month (happening all March long), chew on this fun trivia about the sticky sandwich filling. Americans got stuck on Peanut Butter in the year 1904. That year, a concessionaire named C.H. Sumner made $705 hawking a batch at the St. Louis World’s fair, and the brand Beech Nut began stocking the product in stores [...]
