Gardening – Saving Seeds

It is moving into Fall/Autumn in my part of the universe and it is time for some intense seed saving.

I like to save seeds as early as possible in the season because then I’m assured I’ll have seeds for next year and can relax a bit. But some plants like butternut squash can take all season for their seeds to ripen.

And we wish to ripen those seeds on the plant for as long as possible. That increases the probability those seeds will be viable as the plant has put maximum energy into creating them.

I save my seeds in cleaned-out plastic condiment containers, the type we get with take-out orders. I then put those condiments in old metal cookie/biscuit tins and store them in the cooler basement.

I usually have a gazillion seeds. So I usually plant extra in the Spring because…I can and because that ensures at least some of them will be viable.

Skjolden, Norway

Skjolden, Norway is a lovely little town in Northern Norway.

It is situated at the end of the worlds longest and deepest fjord. The sail in was gorgeous.

And the scenery was amazing.

The Dear Wonderful Hubby and I trekked to one of the larger waterfalls and went for a walk in the countryside, looking at nature and some of the farms.

Dollar Store Books And Giving Back

The Dear Wonderful Hubby purchased a bunch of children’s books at a nearby Dollar Store and I’ve been restocking the neighborhood Little Free Library with them.

You might be thinking,

‘The books cost $1. People can buy those books for themselves.’

First thing, the Dollar Store is now the One Dollar And Twenty-Five Cents Store.

(grins)

Inflation is a kicker.

And, when I was a kid, my Awesome Mom couldn’t spare $1 for awesome things like books. We didn’t always eat. That $1 was much needed for food and other life essentials.

So yes, Dollar Store books freely given to people DO make a difference. They’ll give people joy.

And isn’t it amazing that we can make others happy with $1.25?

Would You Boink An Alien?

(grins)

Cathy and Danielle, the human heroines of Lust By Moonbeam and Ravished By Moonbeam, have sexy times with their alien heroes fairly soon after meeting them.

(These are love at first sight romances.)

They both suspect, prior to meeting their love interests, that aliens exist. They have an adventurous approach to sex. And, between you and me, haven’t we ALL met human guys we’ve thought could very well be aliens here on Earth?

(laughs)

I saw a guy last week who had INTENTIONALLY dyed himself purple. (According to the hand-written message on his t-shirt, it was done as part of a university initiation.)

Would you boink an alien?

Moonbeam: Two Alien Romances From The Vault

Moonbeam includes two sizzling alien romances from Cynthia Sax’s vault.

Lust By Moonbeam

Cathy arrives at Moonbeam, the Roswell of the North, with one goal—to prove the mysterious dead tree circles are not caused by UFOs. Meeting a devastatingly handsome lumberjack with unusual blue and green eyes is a bonus.

He thinks he’s an alien.

That doesn’t bother Cathy. She can tolerate a little strangeness in a one-night stand, especially since Rellec claims her body as no sane man ever has—with the hungry touch of forever.

Rellec arrives at Moonbeam with one goal—to retrieve his destined mate, ensuring the continuation of his species. Having trained long and hard for his passion-filled mission, he is determined to claim his tiny human.

Failure is not an option.

Ravished By Moonbeam

When Officer Danielle smacks a hunky alien with her police cruiser, she suspects her black-and-green perp is up to no good.

She shoots him. He grins.

She hunts him down. He captures her, seducing her on a bed of pine needles.

And she’s never felt so alive.

Krol is Sila’s best warrior. He’s rough and tough and he knows a fragile human female can’t handle his true nature.

To win his mate and ensure the continuation of his species, he attempts to be the gentle male he believes she needs.

Then his Danielle tries to terminate him, and he discovers Earth women aren’t as dainty as they appear.

In Ravished By Moonbeam, the heroine harbors VERY dark suspicions regarding the hero.

Throwback Thursday – Seizing Power

Seizing Power is a true enemies-to-lovers romance.

Power, the cyborg hero, and Eirene Ours, the cyborg heroine, are seeking to…maybe not kill each other but at the very least severely damage the other being.

It is also…sort of…a redemption story. Because Power has been a bit of an a$$helmet in almost every cyborg story thus far. He has a reason for being that way. We uncover that in this story.

I really love Seizing Power. And I hope you will love it also.

(smiles)

Seizing Power

This cyborg believes he’s in control.

Power is the self-appointed leader of the cyborg council. Other members might debate situations. He makes the ultimate decisions.

When a threat to Homeland is revealed, he takes command of a fleet and ventures to the edge of cyborg-controlled space to investigate. He finds a rebellion led by a mysterious upstart he calls Cadet.

The plan Power derives is simple—he’ll quickly quash the uprising and teach its leader a lesson the warrior will never forget.

NO ONE challenges his authority.

Eirene Ours might be called a cadet by Power but she is NOT his subordinate. She is the arrogant E Model’s genetic match.

For much of her mature lifespan, she has desired the male, yearning for his dark-eyed gaze, craving his sure hands, longing for his respect.

That esteem was never granted. And Eirene Ours can no longer wait to earn it. There’s an external threat to their kind, a danger that might destroy them all.

Having lured Power to her home terrain, she now plans to use everything within her means — her fists, her daggers, her ship-destroying missiles — to pound that truth into her stubborn warrior’s thick metal skull.

The future of every cyborg is at stake. She can’t fail them.

Power will believe her. Or he will die.

***

Seizing Power is an enemies-to-lovers Cyborg SciFi Romance set in a dark, gritty, sometimes-violent universe.

It features an epic battle between two equally strong cyborg leaders, plans that go terribly yet passionately wrong, and a love that will shake the entire universe.

Many Different Pollinators

This summer, we’ve had SO many bees, hornets and yellowjackets in our little part of the universe.

Every morning, flowers were absolutely covered with them. There were SO many different kinds of bees, ranging from the barely visible to the big ol’ bumblebees.

They were drawn to different types of flowers. And they were all working hard (when they weren’t taken naps), collecting pollen, ensuring seeds were rendered viable and fruit was set.

The bees were flourishing. As is our garden.

(smiles)

Ironically, I have only seen about one or two honeybees this year. If the Dear Wonderful Hubby and I had focused on only attracting them to our gardens, we and our plants would have been out of luck. The other bees saved our harvests.

Attract as many pollinators as you can. You never know who will show up!

Isafjordur Culture House i.e. Public Library, Iceland

The Dear Wonderful Hubby and I drop in on public libraries wherever we travel and one of the prettiest in the world is the Isafjordur Culture House i.e. Public Library in Iceland.

Each room is different and designed for readers. There are window reading nooks, comfy cushioned wingback chairs, lovely displays and a couple beautiful meeting spaces.

The Isafjordur Culture House was built in 1924-1925 and served as a hospital until 1989. There’s a wonderful little display of older hospital equipment and supplies (a must-visit for lovers of the Mills & Boon Medical series).

It is, of course, free to enter. And the staff were friendly. (smiles)

Muse Food – Icelandic Horses And The Creatures We Domesticate

Why did humans domesticate

horses and not moose

honeybees and not yellowjackets

bunnies and not rats?

The species beings choose to domesticate, to bring into or bring close to their homes, say a lot about those beings – what they value, what they are hoping to gain from the other species, their relationship with the rest of the world and more.

Which species have the characters in your worlds domesticated? Why were THOSE species chosen?

Cynthia Sax Weekly Update – August 31

Moonbeam, the first collection of two previously published alien romances set in the very real town of Moonbeam, Ontario, has released! Woot! I love these stories. That’s why I rereleased them. And I hope you’ll love them also, my friends!

I continue to have massive amounts of fun with my special writing project.

(smiles)

I’m almost done the first novella in it.

But I plan to delay publishing until I have at least four novellas done.

That will give me more flexibility with the plot and with the character development. And it will allow me to set a fairly rapid release schedule.

I like that.

(grins)

Have a wonderful week, my friends. (big hugs) If you can, do things at a speed YOU feel comfortable with. Your life will be much more relaxed and happy. And you deserve happiness. (more hugs)

Fragile. Stubborn. His.

Ghost, a C Model cyborg, has disconnected his machine from his human side. Severely damaged, he knows two things—the curvy human female on his ship belongs to him and he must keep her safe. He’ll stop at nothing to protect her, claim her, make her his.

Primitive. Damaged. Hers.

Lethe has seen the savage side of beings. The courageous Rebel captain has never met a male like Ghost. Overpoweringly dominant, he appeals to her on a primal level, filling her mind with thoughts of sweet surrender, hard kisses, and body-heating encounters against the warship’s walls.

They are two broken beings, one determined to protect, the other intent on flying into danger. Can love heal them both before they face their common enemy?

Ghost Of A Machine is Book 9 in the Cyborg Sizzle series and is a STAND-ALONE story.
It is also a BBW Cyborg SciFi Romance.

Moonbeam – Fictional Stories, A Very Real Town

All of the Moonbeam stories are partially set in the very real town of Moonbeam, Ontario.

I grew up near this wonderful small town.

The O-Rings or dead tree circles in the forests are very real. There have been many UFO sightings in the areas. The Flying Saucer is a very real landmark for the town.

(smiles)

It is a wonderful place to visit, especially for alien romance lovers.
